Danish Language Cafe
https://www.facebook.com/korsgadesprogcafe/
Come and join our cosy language cafe. We recommend that you already speak some Danish (maybe around module 3 on sprogskole) so you can join and understand the conversation. We are mostly two Danes joining, so we can make two groups: beginners and more advanced. We are having conversations while drinking tea. If you have an exam coming up, we can speak about your exam subjects some of the time.
Small donations (10-20 kroner) are appreciated, to support the rent of the place.
You find us in the basement of Korsgade 19. It is a door to the right of the main entrance.
Let's meet and talk books
Hi everyone! Thursday is the offical book meeting day, so let's gather and share our reading.
As usual, we will meet at the fourth floor of the Central Library as it has good facilities for book clubs and it is also free to use. No extra cafe money to spend.
Idea is to meet and connect over books. Each participant present 1-2 books they would like to recommend or just talk about, and then we'll see where conversation leads us. Again, there is no limitation to genre or type of book you are reading. The point is that we are free to read whatever we want and then share those reading experiences, so remember to be respectful to each other.
I hope to see as many of you as possible. :)

Discover what is happening in the next few days
Cozy social Saturday afternoon run/jog/walk
Come join us for an afternoon run/jog/walk.
It will be warmer than the week before and daylight longer.
We are not a typical running club, so please read about the concept in “about us”.
How it works: we don’t know in advance where the trail will go, but we know it will be fun! A member of the club, the 'hare', sets a trail, usually marked with flour. The rest of us, the 'pack', follows the hare's 'scent', i.e., the marks. There will be a 8-10 km trail for runners with shortcuts down to 5-6 km for walkers and those who need a slower pace. We have no set pace - run/walk as slow or as fast as you'd like. After the run we enjoy some refreshments and socialize.
All happens outside, so you need spare warm clothes for after the trail!
Come a few minutes before the start so that you can say hi and leave your bag in a designated bag car before we set off at 14:30.
Don’t worry if there are few registrations on Meetup. We have existed for 44 years, and a lot of our members (anywhere from 20 to 50 people) just show up.
Four-legged friends are welcome!
We never cancel.
See you there!
Solo travellers: casual hangout in Copenhagen (4pm)
**No pressure, no plan—just new friends** ✨
Whether you’re visiting Copenhagen for the first time, recently relocated, or simply love connecting with curious people, this weekly meetup is the perfect way to share stories, make friends, and go explore, as a group, the magic that Copenhagen has to offer 🇩🇰
**What to expect?**
• **Casual & hostless**: no formal host, no schedule: just show up, be yourself, meet fellow solo travellers & expats and decide as a group where you feel like going
• **Central meeting point**: it is surrounded by cultural landmarks, cafes, and restaurants, making it a convenient and safe starting point.
• **Open to everyone**: whether you are a local, an expat or just passing through for a few days, you are welcome to join. (English is the primary language, but feel free to switch of course)
**How to talk with strangers?**
(and create meaningful connections)
To help you get started, I curated a little game of **[ridiculously good questions](https://www.pierrebonvalot.com/theblog?p=285a9711d7df80d5ac25dd4ef8fe5394&pm=c)** you can ask to break the ice, shift the conversation from dull to intriguing and fun, and eventually create meaningful connection quickly. I hope this helps!
**The only things you need to do are…**
• Leave a message in the comment section to let the others know that you will actually be there (I don’t want you to end up alone there :)
• If you can’t make it anymore, no problem! But please update your RSVP to let the others know
• Please be gentle and patient with each other. We all want to make good friends here.
**Why join?**
• Meet open-minded travellers and locals who are keen to connect, learn and have fun together.
• Experience Copenhagen... as a group.
• Be part of a global community that celebrates solo travelling and meaningful connections between foreign and locals.
**How does it works?**
1\. Arrive at the meeting spot at the scheduled time\.
2\. Look for other joiners—friendly faces and curious explorers\.
3\. Introduce yourself\, connect with others\, and decide as a group where to go\.
**When & where?**
• Day: every Sunday
• Time: 4:00 PM (meetup sometimes displays a different time zone: but it’s always 4pm local time)
• Location: in front of the Søren Kierkegaard statue
**Hostless**: I am setting up the event for you all to meet, but I won't be there myself this time :)
**Hi my name is Pierre**
I created this Meetup group because I want to see more human connection happen in the real world. I feel many of us want this, but don't exactly know how to go about it. I hope this helps a little bit.
I also work as a transformational coach: I help people who feel stuck in their life to reconnect with themselves, create real change and ultimately live more fulfilling lives.

Board Games at Bastard Café
It is Sunday again! So it is time for us to gather at Bastard Cafe playing games, enjoying a good drink, and having fun in the lovely atmosphere of the Cafe. Everybody is welcome, whether you are new to board games or you are an experienced player. We play everything from Codenames, Ticket to Ride, Carcassonne, The Resistance, Secret Hitler to more medium-long games like Terraforming Mars, Pandemic, Power Grid, 7 Wonders and Catan. You are welcome to come and play for a few hours or even stay longer if you feel like it! So girls and guys, come and join us for fun and games at Bastard Cafe! :D
**FAQ**
**Q**: *How can I find you?*
**A**: Sometimes we got white flags saying 'Meetup' on the tables, and at other times we simply write the table number in the comment sections. But if you have any trouble finding us you are always welcome to write (chat or comment) and we will gently guide you to our table! :)
**Q**: *What language do you speak?*
**A**: Since our group is a mix of natives and internationals we primarily speak English.
**Q**: *What games do you play?*
**A**: All sorts of games! Social deduction games, strategy games, deckbuilding games, dice games, card games, dexterity games, you name it! If there is any game you want to play feel free to put a comment below, or bring it to the table to see if people are interested!
**Q**: *For how long do you play?*
**A**: As long as people want. We don't have a minimum or maximum time. The timer set from 1:30 pm to 8 pm are merely guiding times. Some leave after a few hours, others play until the cafe close...xD
**Q**: *I am going to be 15 minutes late, can I still show up?*
**A**: Of course! You are always welcome! Just be aware that people might have already started games if you show up a bit later.
**Q**: *What is the average age in the group?*
**A**: In general, we are a very mixed age-group but most people are probably in their 20's and 30's. Though by default, anyone no matter the age, gender, or otherwise, is welcome!
**Q**: How does visiting the cafe work?
**A**: A membership of the cafe cost 150 dkk a year and gives you access to all their games. Else you need a day ticket costing 30 dkk to play all games. There are also free games, but it is required you buy at least one drink from the bar to play them.

Hexenbrett, Karloff, Völva - because New Year
I just need something to shake of first week of this year!
"Black metal? Black 'n' roll? Hard rock with growls? Or a deranged giallo soundtrack from a parallel universe full of perverted metal fans? Hexenbrett are all of that and much more."
Sounds fun!

Meetup Attendance policy
We understand that life happens and things change, but please try and let us know if you’ve signed up to an event but won’t make it. Otherwise, we might spend the entire night worrying about you.
Serial offenders will be marked as non-attendees, just so that our hard-working hosts know not to spend too much time waiting for/contacting them.
Group rules
(TL;DR – Don’t provoke unnecessarily, but also don’t be a massive snowflake.)
This should be self-explanatory to anyone accustomed to conducting themselves in society, but let’s set it out in writing anyway.
Just be excellent to each other. Respect the diverse range of nationalities, personalities, and music tastes represented in the group.
Unacceptable behaviour includes, but is not limited to:
Racism, Sexism, Ageism, Classism, Ableism, Genreism, Homophobia, Xenophobia, Making people feel in any way uncomfortable, Trolling, Shameless advertising, Causing avoidable arguments, Not taking a joke.
NB. Swearing is allowed. Otherwise, we would have to kick ourselves out of the group, but swearing with the intent of causing offence is not ok.

Contra dance Jan 24 (First Unitarian Universalist Church) note new time!
# **Band: The Pegheads; Caller: Liz Burkhart**
Beginner lesson at 1:30, regular dancing begins at 2:00 pm
NOTE THAT WE ARE TEMPORARILY DANCING IN THE AFTERNOON INSTEAD OF EVENING. Dance with us in the afternoon then you can still go out in the evening!
**Sponsor: All Soles Contra and Square Dancing, First Unitarian Universalist Church, 93 W. Weisheimer Rd., Columbus OH 43214**
WHAT IS CONTRA DANCING? Picture the Grand Ball scenes like you’ve seen in period films such as “Pride and Prejudice”, where the dancers are lined up in long lines, across from each other. That’s English Country Dancing, the predecessor of contra dancing. Now, add moves like “swing your partner” and “do-si-do,” like you’ve seen in square dancing. Set it to fabulous, high energy, live music with fiddles, guitars, percussion and more, alá “Riverdance.” Finally, set the whole scene down in the middle of Woodstock, with a hip, groovy atmosphere, a bit of tie-dye, and hints of counter-culture attitude. THAT’s Contra Dancing!
Wear cool and comfortable clothes (you will get warm) and clean shoes that won't mark up our nice wood floor.
Be sure to come for the beginner's lesson from 1:30 - 2:00, followed by dancing 2:00 - 430. All dances are taught; we will help you learn! Beginners always welcome, no need to bring a partner.
Cost is $10.00 adults, $5.00 ages 12-26. Under 12 free. Free parking in church lot.
Please bring your own refillable water bottle.
Freestyle + 3rd Annual Great Chili Cook Off
**3rd Annual Great Chili Cook Off**: Calling All Cooks! This is your shot at dethroning our 2-time repeat Chili Champion and claim the 1st place Chef's Cap and Apron for yourself. Second and Third place winners will also receive a cap and apron.
This is often one of our more well-attended events so please RSVP early and come hungry.
Members will be given a ticket to vote for their favorite chili. No campaigning this year please. Let the chili speak for itself (no, not like that. I know what you are thinking. Stop that.)
**On Freestyle night** \- just bring a bottle to share\. There is NO formal wine tasting like on other weeks\. Door charge is $10 \(cash or Venmo only please\)\. We may have some left over wines to clear out\! Glasses are provided\. Take Care\. See you there\.
**Parking**: There are several public parking lots near the Alive614 hall. Please be careful to NOT park in private parking lots. They do tow. Check Google maps to scope out your space. Anyone who is early could easily find a parking space on the street nearby. I am told that the Chase parking lot is safe after hours.
**Glasses**: …will be provided. Please note that after the wine tasting, the EMPTY glasses need to be returned to the boxes at the service table. Please do not make me hunt down your empty glass. Please be gentle, our glasses are fragile. Uh, they are made of glass!
**Food**: You are welcome to bring a snack to share. It is not required. Most people do though. If no one brings anything, there will be nothing.
**Code of Conduct**: Though mostly understood, it’s still worth mentioning. We don’t have rules per se, but we highly discourage the following topics of discussion because they are likely to incite anti-social responses - Sex, Politics, Religion. Please don’t mistake this as an attempt to limit your free speech rights but rather a guide to a place and time for appropriate discussions.
**After the lights go out**: After the last sip of wine, when we clean up and turn the lights out, if you still haven’t had enough of us, it is typical for a group to get together and go to a local eatery for food and/or drinks or coffee.
Again, We look forward to meeting new members and reuniting with old friends.
Sincerely, ***Paul Uttermohlen***,

Freestyle + Games
**Games**: Bring your favorite game to play with others or join in with a game that someone else brought. Board games. Card games. Please, no axe throwing games or other blood sports. It's not that I'm opposed to such things, it's just that clean up could be a mess and my First Aid certification is long expired.
(POST here in the comments what game you are bringing. Let us know what you're good at and what you want to play...)
