Space Rock Symphony – Planetarium Night
We’re heading to **[Scienceworks Planetarium](https://maps.app.goo.gl/wdTpHjwSCiPtxjk78)** for a special **Planetarium Nights** session featuring **Space Rock Symphony** — a full-album, immersive space experience under the dome.
Before the planetarium show, we’ll grab dinner together at [Grazeland Melbourne](https://maps.app.goo.gl/7264PSLZ7gL6THcN7) nearby. It’s a relaxed way to settle in, eat at your own pace, and chat a bit before the lights go down.
The planetarium experience itself runs for about 50 minutes, with music playing start to finish while cosmic visuals unfold across the dome. Expect something atmospheric, reflective, and quietly mind-expanding rather than loud or high-energy.
This is a low-pressure Friday night plan — you’re welcome to join for just dinner, just the show, or both.

Filmonik Kino-Kabaret 2026 — A 72-hour filmmaking challenge
The Filmonik Kino-Kabaret is our yearly all-you-can-film buffet of spontaneous creativity, where participants collaborate on as many short films as they can, in a shared production hub called the Kinolab, at Balam Balam Place in Brunswick. This 72+hour jam-session of filmmaking is followed by the premiere screening party of all short films that have been produced. It's fun, it's epic, it's chaotic, it's challenging, you meet heaps of new people and get attached on-the-spot to many productions just by hanging out in the hub. We're fiercely non-competitive so it's a celebration of films of all styles and scope, not a competition with creative restrictions. No teams set are to be set in advance, and writers and directors come to the Friday production meeting with a script ready to go or can improvise all weekend with the other participants. The magic should happen with the cast and crew participating and present in the hub. Short films can get written, shot and edited all in and around the hub. It's not a requirement but it's how you can learn more, challenge yourself, get help when you need it, and hop on anyone else's project to try something new.

The Power of Observation
Join, Stephen Fiyalko, past President of the Melbourne Theosophical Society, Level 1, 234 Flinders Lane for our weekly meditation and discussion group on the Laws (principles not rules) of the Universe.
This week on Friday, 27 March at 5:30pm we will precede our discussion with Krishnamurti’s views as presented in the short video ‘The Art of Observation’.
We find that the clarity of our observations of every aspect of ourselves and the world or universe around us is shaped within the Laws of the Universe and specifically by the Law of Relativity .
The premise of the Laws of the Universe and these discussions are that there are no co-incidences in life. Their purpose is revealed by our experiences within the Law of Cause and Effect and all of the Laws in tandem which are designed to teach us about ourselves and foster growing awareness leading to spiritual transformation. Thus our lives, spiritual growth and consciousness carry us on a very purposeful, personal journey.
Participants are encouraged to share their own stories as part of the continuing discussion. We start each session with meditation and a brief energetic self attunement which draws on the power of the Laws to effect balance. This week a short audio-video will precede our open discussion.
Each session is free, but contributions are welcome.

Coastal Impressions: Black Rock & Half Moon Bay Sunset (weather dependent)
**WE WILL PROCEED WITH THIS EVENT. THE WEATHER WILL BE COLDER THAN USUAL SO PLEASE WEAR SOMETHING WARM.**
Join us for an immersive landscape photography session along one of Melbourne’s most dramatic stretches of coastline.
We will focus on three distinct elements: the fiery red sandstone textures of the cliffs, the geometric leading lines of the Black Rock Jetty, and the rusted silhouette of the HMVS Cerberus—a 19th-century breastwork monitor that has served as a breakwater since 1926.
**Note: This event is weather-dependent**. In the event of heavy rain or overcast skies that obscure the sunset, we will notify all attendees by Friday 27th March.

👉 **Carpool Driver information**
If you’ve got spare seats and don’t mind some company, offering a lift is one of the best ways to kick off the day 🚙💨. It makes the trip more fun, helps out fellow hikers who don’t have a car and is an easy way to make a few friends before we even hit the trail. Plus, fewer cars means less parking stress and a smoother start for everyone.
For passengers, it’s the easiest way to get to the trail, meet new people and enjoy the ride together instead of travelling alone. In our Social Hikes Australia community, many people are more than happy to help out those without cars it’s part of what makes these days feel so welcoming and connected.
✨ Best practice: Passengers should try to secure transportation before purchasing a ticket to avoid any last-minute stress.
**Important Carpooling Note**
Drivers and passengers should stick with the arrangements they make. We **do not recommend swapping drivers or cars**after you’ve agreed on a ride. If you do decide to change, please make sure **all parties are clearly informed and agree** to avoid confusion.

🍽️ **Food Arrangement**
After our hike, we love keeping the good vibes rolling with a meal together. We’ll suggest a café or restaurant that’s usually on the way back toward the city so it’s easy for everyone and avoids extra driving.
It’s always a highlight of the day swapping stories from the trail, sharing laughs, and getting to know your fellow hikers even better over some good food.
Joining is optional, but most people stick around because it’s such a fun way to finish the adventure. Everyone just covers their own meal, and we’ll confirm the spot in the Instagram group chat on the day.
When booking, you’ll be asked if you’d like to join: Yes / No / Not Sure. The organisers will confirm the restaurant or bar on the day, based on feedback.

**Refund Policy:**
Tickets are non-refundable unless the hike is cancelled or rescheduled.

**🌧 Rain Policy**
If the forecast shows over 15 mm in 6 hours or 20+ mm during the day, we may postpone or adjust the hike to keep things safe and enjoyable. Slippery trails, flooding, and poor visibility are no fun or safe.
We’ll also reschedule for thunderstorms or if trails are still soaked from heavy rain the days before.
Light rain (under 5 mm/hour) is usually fine. We’ll check each hike case-by-case. Safety first 🌿
If it changes and gets heavier, we’ll reschedule for the following Sunday, 12 April 2026 instead.

We start a walk to London Bridge in Portsea. It;s scenic 1.5 km (30-45 min) to 3 km coastal trail featuring dramatic clifftop views of a natural rock arch.

Tucked away in the Yarra Ranges, Kurth Kiln is one of those rare places where nature and history quietly coexist.
Tall eucalyptus trees stretch into the sky, fern gullies glow deep green, and a soft creek flows through the forest like a gentle soundtrack. Hidden among it all stands the old **kiln chimney** — a reminder of Victoria’s early timber days — and the peaceful **water wheel**, turning slowly beside the stream.
This is a place to slow down.
We’ll walk through lush forest trails, listen to the sounds of water and birds, maybe spot a **koala resting high in the trees**, and take time to simply breathe.
After the walk, we gather for a relaxed **picnic with fresh fruit**, followed by a short **meditation** in nature — a moment to ground, reset, and reconnect.
