Clean Code Myths & The FDAP Stack
**✨ 🚀 Clean Code Myths & The FDAP Stack 🐍 ✨**
We are back for the 2026 season with a brand new meetup hosted by our friends at **Fiscozen**. To kick off the year, we are diving deep into two critical topics: challenging the dogmas of software design and exploring the cutting edge of data architecture.
We will start by questioning if "Clean Code" is always the right answer (and what it costs you in performance). Then, we will see how modern systems move data at high speeds with the "FDAP" stack: Flight, DataFusion, Arrow, and Parquet.
**Agenda**
* 👋 **18:30** Doors Open
* 🧼 **19:00** Talk: “Write Clean Code” and how you’re going to think it twice with Giulio Davide Carparelli
* 🏹 **19:50** Talk: FDAP Stack: High-Performance Data Architecture based on Apache Arrow with Emanuele Domingo & Giacomo Rossi
* 🍻 After the meetup we will organize a dinner close to the venue, anybody who wants to join is welcome!
📍 **Venue**: Fiscozen, Via Roncaglia 12, Milano MI (Bolivar M4, De Angeli M1)
📺 The event will be **recorded and streamed** on Python Milano Youtube channel (links will appear [here](https://www.youtube.com/@pythonmilano/streams) close to the event)
🧹🧐 **“Write Clean Code” and how you’re going to think it twice**
What if, after many year spent on believing in Clean Code as a religion, you discover that Clean Code itself has its weaknesses? In this talk, we are going to discover how much it can affect performance.
The goal of the talk is not to make people think "Clean Code is trash" (spoiler: it's not) but to let people learn to always question what can sound as unquestionable truths.
**Giulio Davide Carparelli,** **Software Engineer @ Fiscozen**
I'm a music nerd and Green Day lover. My passion for developing starts at the young age of thirteen, after seeing a small Javascript demonstration at the local high school. I'm a Software Engineer from 4 years, mostly skilled in TypeScript and Python.
🏹✈️ **FDAP Stack: High-Performance Data Architecture based on Apache Arrow**
Take a tour through the FDAP technology stack: Flight, DataFusion, Arrow, and Parquet. It’s a modern, cloud-friendly approach to building data systems that move and process information quickly and efficiently. In this talk, we’ll break down how these tools fit together and show how Arrow’s columnar format makes it possible to stream data between services at high speed, without extra copying or memory overhead.
**Emanuele Domingo, Technical Product Owner @ Hiop**
Graduated in Computer Science, I was hire #1 at Hiop. I started as an intern in a newly founded startup, working first as a frontend developer on the POC, then moving to the backend with Python and AWS. Nowadays, I manage feature development for Hiop’s core product, Jump.
**Giacomo Rossi, Software Engineer @ Hiop**
Graduated in Computer Science & Engineering, I joined Hiop one year ago. I work as a Software Engineer with a strong focus on Data Engineering, designing and building data architectures on AWS using Jump, our core platform. Alongside this, I contribute to the development and evolution of Hiop’s tool, working across backend, infrastructure, and platform components.

## What we’re about
Buongiorno a tutti. Cerco persone serie e disposte solamente a divertirsi, senza puntare mazzette grazie mille.

Queues for Apache Kakfa® x How MCP Bridges LLMs and Data Streams
Join us for a meetup on Thursday, February 5th from 6:15pm in Milan hosted by Bitrock!
📍**Venue:**
Bitrock
Via Tortona, 4, 20144 Milano MI, Italy. 1st Floor.
**\*\*IMPORTANT: There are limited seats, so if you cannot attend, please change your RSVP so someone else can join. Thanks!\*\*\***
🗓 **Agenda:**
* 6:15pm: Doors open/Welcome
* 6:30pm - 7:15pm: Simone Esposito, Team Lead - Software Architect @ Bitrock
* 7:15pm - 8:00pm: Viktor Gamov, Principal Developer Advocate, Confluent
* 8:00pm - 8:30pm: Additional Q&A, Drinks, Food and Networking
💡 **First Speaker:**
Simone Esposito, Team Lead - Software Architect @ Bitrock
**Title of Talk:**
Queues for Kafka (KIP-932)
**Abstract:**
For more than a decade, Apache Kafka’s consumption model has been governed by a strict rule: one consumer per partition within a consumer group. This limitation has shaped how teams scale their systems, design topics, and plan for peak throughput. With KIP-932, Kafka breaks this long-standing assumption and introduces a fundamentally new capability: queues. Backed by the new concept of share groups, this paradigm shift allows multiple consumers to read concurrently from the same partition.
This talk explores how KIP-932 brings native queueing semantics to Kafka, enabling true work-queue patterns without over-partitioning and greatly simplifying horizontal scaling. We’ll examine how the new message acknowledgment model works, the tradeoffs introduced by cooperative consumption, and how this feature fits alongside, and differs from, traditional Kafka consumer groups.
**Bios:**
**Simone Esposito** is Software Architect & Team Lead at Bitrock. Passionate about computer science, Simone is always excited to test himself with different technologies and learn new things. He has a strong passion for writing code and sharing knowledge with colleagues and peers in the industry. He prefers working with functional programming languages, distributed systems and event-driven architectures.
💡 **Second Speaker:**
Viktor Gamov, Principal Developer Advocate, Confluent
**Title of Talk:**
The Missing Protocol: How MCP Bridges LLMs and Data Streams
**Abstract:**
Nobody’s talking about this: MCP isn’t just another way to build chatbots. It’s the bridge we’ve been missing between AI reasoning and real-time data systems. Teams build AI applications that work great in demos but fall apart with production data. Your agents analyze historical reports but can’t tell what’s happening in your Kafka streams. They’re blind to schema changes and disconnected from events that matter to your business. Instead of treating streaming platforms like black boxes, you expose them directly to your agents via MCP protocol. Suddenly, your AI doesn’t just read about data—it lives inside your data flows. Learn what becomes possible when you stop thinking about AI as an external service and start treating it as part of your streaming architecture. We’ll build systems where agents subscribe to real-time events, reason about evolving schemas, and make decisions that ripple through your data platform.
**Bio:**
Viktor Gamov is a Principal Developer Advocate at Confluent, founded by the original creators of Apache Kafka®. With a rich background in implementing and advocating for distributed systems and cloud-native architectures, Viktor excels in open-source technologies. He is passionate about assisting architects, developers, and operators in crafting systems that are not only low in latency and scalable but also highly available.
As a Java Champion and an esteemed speaker, Viktor is known for his insightful presentations at top industry events like JavaOne, Devoxx, Kafka Summit, and QCon. His expertise spans distributed systems, real-time data streaming, JVM, and DevOps.
Viktor has co-authored "Enterprise Web Development" from O'Reilly and "Apache Kafka® in Action" from Manning.

GYROTONIC®
The GYROTONIC® (with equipment) and GYROKINESIS® (without equipment) methods were developed in the 1970s by Juliu Horvath, a professional Hungarian dancer who, after multiple injuries, sought a new approach to rehabilitation. This led him to create GYROTONIC®, an extraordinary discipline that combines elements of dance, yoga, swimming, and tai chi.
In the GYROTONIC® method, exercise sequences consist of rhythmic, circular movements that flow seamlessly from one to the next, allowing the joints to move freely and naturally, without compression. GYROTONIC® is a unique and original method that stimulates the nervous system, tones the muscles, and improves balance, coordination, flexibility, and strength.
The practice of GYROTONIC® is suitable for everyone, including those recovering from injuries who are looking for a new approach to rehabilitation. Each person can naturally adapt the exercises to their own physical condition and needs, so age or fitness level do not matter. The only goal is to regain agility and mobility, helping your body feel healthier and more balanced than ever.

Data & Analytics Wednesday - Compensation Data
**People Analytics 101: Making Sense of Compensation Data**
Compensation data is one of the most widely used and widely misunderstood forms of people analytics.
The session will cover where compensation data comes from, including market pricing data, internal payroll data, and benchmarking sources, and how companies think about structuring and analyzing that information. We will explore how compensation data is leveraged to set salary ranges, manage internal equity, support hiring and retention, and align pay with business strategy. A portion of the session will address common data challenges and limitations, such as market noise, inconsistent job matching, and incomplete datasets, while keeping the primary focus on practical use rather than technical depth.
The session will also look ahead at where the space is going, including the growing impact of pay transparency laws, expanding pay equity requirements, and emerging regulations in the US and Europe that require organizations to report on gender and pay gaps. The goal is to give attendees a clear mental model for how compensation analytics works today and why getting it right is becoming increasingly critical.
(note: we are back at Rev1 this month!)
**About Our Speaker**
[Alex Moore](https://www.linkedin.com/in/alexscottmoore/) is the founder of [Moore Cooperative](https://moorecooperative.com/), where he advises organizations on compensation strategy, pay equity, and people analytics. His work focuses on helping organizations like the Ohio Supreme Court design, analyze, and communicate compensation systems that are data-informed, defensible, and aligned with organizational goals. Alex lives in Granville, Ohio and has three little kiddos.

CBusData - Ok I Want to Get Data into Fabric - Now What?
I love my job and one of the main things I do is help customers get going with any of the data technologies at Microsoft. Right now there are a lot of my customers asking about Microsoft Fabric. It's hard to weave across all the shiny new options across the Fabric landscape, let alone figure out where it fits into your organization. In this session we'll focus on answering one question - how can I get data into Fabric? We'll talk through the "it depends" options and see some of the options in live demos.
