Thursday Evening – Long Pose Life Drawing and Painting
This is a studio based long pose life drawing and painting session. We have a nude model for two hours in a single pose to give you time to complete a finished drawing or to paint the figure. You are welcome to draw or paint in oils or wet media. Our studio is purpose built and well equipped with easels, drawing boards, clips and so on. We sell materials at reasonable prices so if you forget anything we should be able to help you out. We have professional lighting for the models and full spectrum lights for the studio to give you a good experience. Join us at Waterloo for a small open social, for any aspiring film-makers to make new personal connections \- we'll have table 7pm until 9\.30pm (4th Thursday and 1st Monday of month. - \*Venues will vary but always within Zone 1, near a major station). An informal meetup/drinks open for anyone pursuing or developing personal film-making goals. **Format** This isn't a formal networking event: it is for newcomers and outsiders, to be able to meet and chat. Also to share any personal input about different events and resources we have found useful. Or would help others find what they need. (Nothing beats word of mouth.) ..... No expectation of professional background, or active projects - just interest! To connect with others, creatively or socially. We won't have a set schedule, or pressure to pitch. **Let's Shoot Noir Street Photography in Soho London After Dark** This mini-workshop event focuses on shooting street photography after dark. You will learn tips for low-light shooting, handheld techniques, and how to creatively use existing city lighting. Soho after dark has a completely different energy. Neon signage, theatre lights, and passing traffic create natural contrast, cinematic tones, and deep, moody shadows. The location itself becomes part of your frame, adding atmosphere without the need for a flash. This session focuses on capturing moody, neon-lit street photography using the city’s existing lights. You’ll learn to see, interpret, and use the available light creatively. Borough & Maltby Road - 2 markets walk
This 2 mile walk starts at 11;00am at Borough Market to get shots before it gets too busy. We'll then go to The Mudlark pub for some refreshment and chat around 12:00. At 1:00pm we'll proceed South East through Bermondsey to walk through Maltby Road Market before heading North East to walk along Shad Thames to Tower Bridge where it ends. I'll be taking this opportunity to try out some of my Kodak Double-X film for some Street photography. I'd advise a fast film as it may be a dull day. You are welcome to either do the full walk starting at 10am or join us for the second half at 1:00pm. We will start the second half at the same location as the 10:00am start. So this month's prompt is more general. I think we can all agree that we are living in "unique" times that require coping skills. I think that one role and/or purpose of philosophy is to help us deal with our daily lives and our "unique" times. So, let's share our feelings and thoughts about which philosopher/philosophy we turn to in order to deal with our crazy events. Who/what helps you stay focused in your daily life and helps you sleep at night. I find that Stoicism with a little philosophical pessimism mixed in goes a long way in helping me deal with what I see as very destructive, fearful and mean spirited public policies at both the state and federal levels. We will be hearing from Becca Powell, Director of Advocacy and Outreach at Unchained At Last, an organization whose mission is dedication to ending forced and child marriage in the United States through direct services and systems change. You'll love it here. **FAQ** * Wear casual athletic attire and sneakers. It's a long walk! * We have multiple first-timers at each event. It's hard to find us once we start walking, and your host can't answer messages during the event. * This walk is designed for everyone to *move together at the same steady pace* (about 20 min/mile).
