Komm zu unserem Monozukuri-Stammtisch für Deutsch-Japanisch!
[Fotos vom letzte Session ](https://www.instagram.com/p/C7MCwjloY8R/)

**From Loneliness to Community \| Creating Connections**
**with *Marco Obermüller***
**Closed Group \| 6 Thursdays \| In German\***
für **LGBTQIA+**
Free event with **[registration](https://wearevillage.org/en/shop/einsamkeitserien1/w04-2026/)**
Loneliness can arise when people have few opportunities to experience genuine connection with others. This is where the group comes in, creating spaces in which a sense of belonging can be actively experienced. By working together on personal topics, a social space of resonance emerges that replaces isolation with relationship and contact. Through the structured sharing of experiences, loneliness becomes visible, discussable, and therefore open to change.
Through facilitated interaction, shifts in perspective, small experiments in experiencing contact, and shared reflection, participants develop new forms of connectedness and strategies for social effectiveness. The group functions not only as a source of support, but also as a learning environment for shaping relationships. In this way, resilient connections are formed that extend beyond the individual meeting and help to sustainably reduce loneliness.
**General Information**
This group consists of a maximum of 15 participants.
**Language**: This series will be held in German. This series is open to everyone. Your German should be fluent enough to follow an event in German.

Berlin Sprachcafé. Learn and practise German easily (A1-A2)
The Language Café is primarily aimed at people who are struggling with their mental health which can make it hard to go to regular courses. We want to create a safe space for everyone to learn and practise without pressure. Everyone is welcome! Please try to be on time so we can all get started together :)
We mainly practise on a beginner/lower intermediate level and adapt to everyone's prior level of German.
The Language Café will focus on teaching you the most important words and phrases and basic grammar in German. The content of the course is adapted to real life. (everyday life in Germany, dealing with authorities, etc.) We will cover different topics every week and you can join us anytime, since the topics do not necessarily build on each other.
The Sprachcafé is for free.
\*If you cannot make it please cancel your participation so someone else from the waiting list can join, thank you!\*

We are back in Berlin for **our first event of the new year!**
**📦 WHAT'S THIS ABOUT?**
FTST is a **one-of-a-kind social experience** where strangers come together for an afternoon of meaningful, fun, and deep conversation. It’s also a different & cool way of meeting new people by getting a bit out of your comfort zone and skipping the small talk!
Join us for **games**, **talks**, and **connections** with **friends you haven’t met yet**. Join if you get annoyed after being asked what you do, where you are from, and how long you've been in Berlin every single time you meet someone. If you feel that there are better questions in life, this is the place for you. 🙌
**📓 HOW DOES IT WORK?**
We start with a short & sweet intro talk followed by a few light-hearted group games to warm up. After that, we split you up into small groups and start with the conversation rounds (with 3-4 people). We'll have awesome question cards that will guide the flow of the conversation. You’ll never have to speak in public if you don’t want to.
**🕹 HOW TO JOIN?**
**[Take 1 minute to sign up 👈](https://luma.com/ftst2berlin)**
🔗 On your phone and can't click? Click the link in the **comments** :)
Our events are **limited to 30 handpicked guests** to ensure a cozy atmosphere. We aim to curate events with similar age and gender groups *wherever possible.* If you're invited you'll receive a confirmation within 48 hours via Luma (our ticketing platform)

**💛 WHAT THEY SAY**
🗣 “Great way to connect with people in a more meaningful way. Get to the heart of the matter, dive straight into what really counts!” - Matthias
🗣 “F\*ck the Small Talk changes the narrative from "Where are you from?" to "When was the last time you laughed uncontrollably?" and I think that's beautiful.” - Monika
🗣 “I loved F\*ck the Small Talk, I was a little bit nervous at first but they are pros at making you feel comfortable with the rest of the group, the activities are really fun and I enjoyed every second (consider that the one who's saying this is very, very shy). Give it a try!” - Brenda
🗣 "It’s a wonderful experience, it’s like being a kid again, when you were at the park, playing with other kids, and just decided you were going to be best friends for the next hours. Maybe you’ll never see those kids again. But that hour was amazing because you both opened up and trusted each other." - Sara

**🤓 FAQ**
**• What's the age range?**
Most people who come to our events are between 24 and 40 years old. But everyone is welcome to attend! (it's just a reference)
**• Can I come alone?**
Of course, we encourage it :)
**• Can I be late?**
Please don't! Late arrivals will disrupt the floooooooow.
**• I signed up but never got an invite. Why?**
We get a high volume of sign-ups yet we can only invite around 30 people. Please try again next time if do not receive an invite - no hard feelings 💛
**• Why do you charge?**
We value our time and put a lot of love, planning, and effort into creating & designing these experiences. ♥️ This is our project/business and what we give to the world and we think everything should be a fair exchange! 🎈 However, money should never be the reason for people not to attend. If you can’t afford it send us a message!
**• Can I bring my pet llama?**
100% yes, any *well-behaved* pets are highly encouraged as long as you can still focus on connecting with the humans around you! Especially llamas. Please confirm with us beforehand.
**• Can I get a refund if I can't make it?**
Unfortunately, we do not offer refunds. However, feel free to pass on your ticket to a friend or consider coming to the next edition. [and let us know]!

Silent Reading / Creating Club at W66 (Saturday) [Luma to RSVP]
RSVP on Luma:
https://luma.com/zx2l0ais?utm_source=meetup
Silent Reading / Creating Club is a gathering for people who enjoy focusing together in public.
Bring a book, a notebook, a sketchpad, knitting needles — whatever you’d like to spend a quiet hour with. All projects and all participants are welcome.
This year is about creating more — quietly, consistently, imperfectly — and shaping environments that support that. If you’re building something of your own, you’re especially welcome here.
We’re building a community of readers and creators who value depth, presence, and shared silence. The magic isn’t just in the quiet hour — it’s in the people who return and make it feel like a familiar room.
(Please RSVP “yes” only if you can make it, so we can save a seat for you and others on the waitlist.)
This quiet ritual unfolds at **W66 Café**.
There’s no entrance fee, but please order at least one item from the café and don’t bring outside drinks 🙂
No assignments. No pressure. No productivity race. Just a shared hour of intentional silence, followed by relaxed conversation.
🕰 Our Agenda
**10:30 – 11:00**
Arrivals, ordering drinks/food, light social time
**11:00 – 12:00**
The Great Quiet Hour
(Read. Write. Sketch. Code. Think. Sit.)
**12:00 – 12:30**
Optional socializing — share what you were reading or creating, or simply continue in quiet focus.
## **🏡 House Guidelines**
To keep this space calm and welcoming for everyone:
• Silence during the focus hour (no calls or conversations)
• Phones on silent mode
• If using a laptop, please avoid meetings or audio — headphones welcome
• Arrive before 11:00 if possible to minimize disruptions

**Mandarin Learner Meetup in Berlin! *(Free resources below)***
**Learning Mandarin is like trying to tame a** 🐲**.**
It can feel frustrating, but you’re not alone. **[WeHanzi](wehanzi.com)** is here to support!
**[WeHanzi](wehanzi.com)** is an independently built iOS app created by Ben and Gina.
We've turned the entire learning experience into ***Comprehensible Input* through both simplified and traditional manga** with support for **Zhuyin**, **Pinyin**, **flashcards**, **audio**, **direct translation**, an integrated dictionary.
We also specifically design region-specific language to reflect real-life usage in both **mainland Chinese Mandarin** and **Taiwanese Mandarin**, allowing you to naturally compare and explore the differences between the two, so you don’t end up saying something that makes perfect sense in Beijing, but gets you funny looks in Taipei 😏.
Now, together with our good friend Matthias from **[Gemeinsam Chinesisch & Deutsch lernen](https://www.meetup.com/gemeinsam-mandarin-chinesisch-und-deutsch-lernen/events/308204343/?eventOrigin=group_upcoming_events),** we’re inviting you to our very first **in-person Mandarin Learner Meetup in Berlin** together!
All levels are welcome, from beginners to advanced learners. Just come hang out, share your stories, laugh at our tone mistakes! As a community, we can learn from each other and turn Mandarin into a piece of cake! 🍰

We'll meet at the meeting spot first and then - depending on the weather - decide as a group to either walk around Tempelhofer Feld or go to a closeby restaurant to warm up and chat. So please be on time. Or if you are running late or can't find us, just give Matthias a call on 0176-21984345.
See you all soon,

About frogs and other paper beasts... @ Das Gift 🎁
An origami tradition has by now taken root at **[Das Gift](https://www.instagram.com/dasgiftberlin/)**, a cosy Scottish pub (special info for all post-rock fans: Mogwai was its previous owner! ) in central Neukölln. Known for its creative spirit and friendly vibe, it’s the perfect backdrop for an evening full of origami, good company, and pretending we are far more coordinated than we actually are 😂
What you can expect at all our events:
* **Mandatory donation (amount of your choice)** – this supports essential costs like the Meetup subscription and keeps our community thriving You can either submit a **physical donation** to the event host in person or make a **digital donation** **[here](https://paypal.me/origamiberlin?locale.x=de_DE&country.x=DE)** (and inform the host afterwards).
* In-person folding practice for all levels – beginners and experienced folders are equally welcome.
* Origami paper + model instructions will be provided (from the host’s collection, for reference only). Feel free to bring your own favorite sheets or tools!
* Photos may be taken for memories & our archive (Meetup, Instagram, Telegram) – let the host know if you prefer not to appear.
* **We kindly encourage everyone to order at least one drink/snack to support [Das Gift](https://www.instagram.com/dasgiftberlin/) for hosting us!** They are also kind enough to allow outside food, so feel free to bring something to snack on or share with the group if you wish!
⚠️ **RSVP Policy – Please Read** ⚠️
Our community has grown a lot since its birth in August 2024, which is amazing — but it also means we need to handle RSVPs more carefully:
* Please cancel your spot or contact the host directly (via Meetup message function or our [Telegram channel](https://t.me/+T4URs80l2ig3NWNi)) by **noon on the event day** if you can't make it last minute.
* Members with **2 no-shows** (without notice) will be removed from the group unless a valid reason is provided.
Thank you for keeping things fun and reliable together as a community!
Get in touch if you have questions anytime. See you all at the folding tables very soon!
#4 social reading club – Kreuzberg · Tempelhof (DE)
**Come together. Read. Talk about it.**

Humanist Program: Fighting the Efforts to Insert Religion into Public Education
The Humanist Monthly Program is our longest running event and still a community favorite. In the old days it used to be called "Going to HCCO" and we still like to think of it as our flagship event.
Food and drinks will be provided at the event. Feel free to show up a little bit early to hang out and talk.
Our March speakers are Molly Gaines and Zack Parrish, co-organizers of the Secular Education Association:
They will share their story of how a small group of Ohio parents grew into a national organization tracking released-time religious instruction and other church–state issues in public schools. The presentation will cover SEA’s early wins and hard lessons, what we’re seeing nationally right now, and how local advocates can play a meaningful role in protecting public education. Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of the landscape — and practical ways to get involved.
Going forward our meetings will be hybrid. You can meet us in-person or attend online

Il Sorpasso (The Easy Life)
A classic Italian road comedy that was so good the film ministry recognized it as "culturally significant." Starring Vittorio Gassman and Jean-Louis Trintignant, the film shows that for young men in love the rules of the road are only suggestions. And the rules for love? Hey, this is an Italian picture! Oh to be young and filled with joie de vivre or la dolce vita.
A french/italian fun filled movie with a surprising twist at the end.
Do you have a fun memory from your youth?
