LG Berlin: Social responsibility in project management
## The Local Group Berlin / Brandenburg invites you to a kick-off (in English) to “Social responsibility in project management”.
Register here: https://pmi-gc.de/event/local-group-event/social-responsibilty
"Giving back" is an essential part of PMI's core values and understanding - therefore Social Responsibility (SR) is at the heart of those values. Besides the global cooperation of PMI with the United Nations on the base of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), PMI Germany Chapter has set up an SR initiative that allows PMI members directly to support NGOs / NPOs working in this context and to generate social impact. This session spans from the underlying principles to current projects and illustrates what kind of participation is possible through PMI. The icing on the cake is the matchmaking concept, which will be presented and opened for discussion.
### **Learning Objectives**
• Get to know the Social Responsibility Initiative of PMI Germany Chapter
• Identify possible opportunities to engage yourself
• Help shaping the Matchmaking concept to make use of the SR initiative
Responsible AI in HealthCare: Considerations and Opportunities
Our friend **Dmitri Katz**, a 10 years+ long time friend and huge supporter of **STEM4Health**, **G4A**, **Digital Health**, and every **Innovation in Healthcare**, is organizing this event. I highly recommend to attend. Please register at https://luma.com/m47avlhj.
AI is offering new opportunities to address persistent, high-impact societal challenges. In domains where social and human stakes are high, practical value will depend not only on technical performance, but on how well AI systems are aligned with ethical, institutional, and operational realities. Addressing this need requires sustained, cross-disciplinary collaboration grounded in real-world practice. To this end, **ÆTHOS Berlin** is building an interdisciplinary community of founders, researchers, practitioners, domain experts, and policymakers.
In this workshop, we will discuss real-world care challenges and the constraints that shape responsible AI use. Participants are invited to contribute practical perspectives.
**What we aim to produce:**
The workshop will produce Challenge Briefs: short documents that describe (a) a concrete care problem, (b) its real-world impact, and (c) the key institutional, ethical, and practical constraints involved. Where it emerges naturally, the briefs may also note open directions for work, such as further research or approaches for AI implementation. The briefs will be published publicly after the event and shared as reference material for future research and innovation.
**Workshop format (2 hours):**
* Short, problem‑focused inputs from care‑domain experts, early‑stage startups, and other workshop attendees.
* Small, mixed working groups
* Each group drafts one brief using a simple structure:
Problem · Impact · Constraints · Directions
* Sharing and discussion
**Why your participation matters:**
* Help ensure that actual constraints shape how AI problems are defined
* Bring institutional, ethical, and operational realities into the discussion early
* Contribute to challenge definitions that shape the community’s future focus
* Be acknowledged as a contributing participant in this first workshop
**What participation could involve:**
* Share a real-world care‑domain challenge
* Contributing to the drafting group
* Bring a laptop if possible.
This is an ÆTHOS community initiative. Participants are welcome to share what they are working on, but the focus will remain on problem framing rather than product pitching. If you have questions or would like to help with the workshop, please let us know.
Warm Regards,
Dmitri Katz

Agentic AI Engineering Lab (Sprint #1) - Build a Production-Ready MCP Server
**Agentic AI Engineering Lab (Tech Event, Sprint #1)**
**\- Build a Production\-Ready MCP Server**
**Move from prompting to architecting**
The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an emerging open standard for connecting AI apps/agents to real tools and data sources. This session is not a talk — it’s a hands-on lab where we build MCP servers that can be tested immediately with an MCP-capable client (e.g., Claude Desktop / your preferred agent setup).
**The Format**
We are planning a series of agentic ai tech meetings for deep building. This event may be attended alone or be seen as part / sprint of the event series with upcoming events building on top of what we build here.
This is a high-density micro-meetup limited to 6 seats. We prioritize builders: bring your laptop, ship code, and be ready to 'build and break' alongside other devs and engineers.
**Future Sessions building on top may focus on ...**
RAG systems, advanced MCP features, A2A, multi-agent workflows, production deployment Patterns or whatever we feel nice to build next.
(We run our sessions like an anthology series: **Every meetup is a standalone sprint.** While we often build on previous results, each session provides a complete experience and remains fully accessible to first-time attendees.)
**What you'll build**
After a quick alignment on the technical scope, the floor is yours: build your solution using the stack and tools that fit your workflow. We provide the framework; you provide the execution.
By the end, you’ll have a working MCP server (Python or TypeScript) with at least one real tool/resource, tested end-to-end.
**Ideas: Choose one track (or bring own idea if it fits the scope)**
**For Beginners (Foundational)**
* Personal knowledge server (local files/notes)
* Weather / external API integration
* GitHub issues helper
**Intermediate**
* SQLite query interface
* Slack/Discord notification tool
* CSV/Excel analyzer
**Advanced**
* Multi-API aggregator (e.g., calendar + weather + tasks)
* Document processor (PDF/DOCX parsing)
* Lightweight system monitoring/control
**Schedule (Saturaday, 10:00 - 15:00 CET)**
* **10:00–10:30 — Foundations + Live Demo**
Quick run through general MCP architecture (hosts/clients/servers), core primitives (tools/resources/prompts), basic patterns in order to get everybody on the same page.
* **10:30–11:00 — Environment Sync**
We wanna make sure everyone can run a “Hello World” MCP server (Python or TypeScript).
* **11:00–12:45 — Build Sprint (Lab Time)**
Implement your server + first tool/resource. Pair-debugging encouraged.
* **12:45–13:00 — Break (Pizza/Snacks)**
* **13:00–13:30 — Test & Iterate**
Use MCP Inspector / your client to test, fix edge cases, tighten tool contracts.
* **13:30–15:00 — Demos + Technical Teardown**
Quick demos, what broke, what worked, and what we’ll harden in the next sprint.
**Prerequisites (Please Read)**
* You’re comfortable shipping small things in your preferred dev language and tools (e.g. Python, TypeScript/Node.js).
* **Bring your laptop** + basic dev setup (Git, package manager).
* Have access to an LLM client / API (Claude/OpenAI/etc.).
* This is a lab for engineers, not a tutorial. We solve architectural problems together, but you are the master of your own dev environment.
* **Mindset:** Build, Break & Iterate — broken code is welcome, passivity isn’t.
**Logistics**
* **Location:** Our private boardroom in the Grunewald area (near Martin-Luther Hospital). The exact address will be shared after RSVP.
* **Capacity:** 6 seats (first come, first served; deposit required)
**Commitment Deposit and No-Show / Late-Show**
This meetup is strictly non-profit. To respect everyone’s time and ensure all 6 seats are utilized by committed builders, a €15 deposit is required.
* **The Deal:** The deposit covers high-quality pizza, snacks, and drinks. Any surplus will be refunded to you via your original payment method after the event.
* **Punctuality is Key:** We start at **10:00 sharp** with the technical foundations (door open from 09:45). To protect the group’s focus, late arrivals or no-shows will not be eligible for a refund. Their deposit will be fully contributed to the community's pizza & snack fund.
* **Cancellations:** No refunds for cancellations within 24 hours of the start time.

Build & Learn: Data Science with Coffee [Cohort 6 Image Processing]
📅 **Week 4 Focus: Calling LLM via API**
Each 7-week cycle focuses on a small, well-defined part of a larger system—and over time, these cycles build toward a complete, real-world project
Feel free to join at any week and we will catch you up. There is no need to be at the beginning of the cohort to build. Complete beginners welcomed!
📌 By the End of a Full Cycle, You should Have
🎯 A working project in your own GitHub repo
🎯 A small but real portfolio piece you can demo or write about
🧠 **Current Project**
This cycle’s shared project is an **image-based knowledge extraction system**.
In Week 3, we trained a deep learning object detection model (YOLO) and learned how modern computer vision models are built.
**In Week 4** we will try **LLM-based image understanding via APIs** to extract structured information from images and comparing this approach with traditional computer vision and building your own deep learning methods.

Dale Gnidovec, Curator of the Orton Hall Museum of Geology at The Ohio State University, will be presenting a program he has wanted to share with us for a long time: Plate Tectonics. His description of his program:
Continents on the move - Nothing in Earth history makes sense without moving continents - it tells us why mountains, volcanoes, minerals, and fossils are where they are. This talk examines the evidence for continental drift, why it was disbelieved, and explains how the more-encompassing theory of plate tectonics was developed and eventually proven. Dale is an energetic, incredibly knowledgeable, and very entertaining speaker and this will be another wonderful program by Dale. Hope to see you there!
Food and drinks will be provided at the event. Feel free to show up a little bit early to hang out and talk.

Saturday Mornings @ East Market
Let's grab some coffee/food and share a morning chat! The East Market has an ample parking lot and outdoor and indoor seating.
Grab a cup of coffee from Winston's Coffee & Waffles or on your way to East Market and meet us on the second floor - table behind or east of the elevator. If the weather cooperates we will be meeting in the patio.
Per what this group is about: "Everyone is welcome! International transplants to Columbus who want to improve language skills, Columbus residents who want to discuss international travel and culture, and anyone who enjoys getting together for good conversations."
Columbus Arduino Raspberry Pi Enthusiasts (CARPE) (Check Location)

This session is open forum to share your current projects—whether complete or in progress, it’s all interesting! Whether you’re deep into embedded systems, exploring new ideas, or just getting started, you’ll find a welcoming space to collaborate, share, and get inspired.
(NOTICE - Location change!) This session will be at the Karl Road Branch of the Columbus Library in the Conference Room 2.
CBusData - Ok I Want to Get Data into Fabric - Now What?
I love my job and one of the main things I do is help customers get going with any of the data technologies at Microsoft. Right now there are a lot of my customers asking about Microsoft Fabric. It's hard to weave across all the shiny new options across the Fabric landscape, let alone figure out where it fits into your organization. In this session we'll focus on answering one question - how can I get data into Fabric? We'll talk through the "it depends" options and see some of the options in live demos.
Quarterly Community Gathering
Join the Columbus AI community for our quarterly gathering — a casual, community-focused evening where everyone has a chance to share, learn, and connect. These open mic–style events give anyone in the community up to **5 minutes** to present a project, share a tool, pose a question, or offer a perspective on the evolving AI space.
No slides required — just a welcoming space to exchange ideas and keep the local AI conversation moving.
If you’d like to take the stage, message **Chris (the organizer)** with a **title and short description** of what you’d like to share.
Whether you’re deep in the field or just getting curious, come connect with others building and exploring AI in Columbus.
