Hands-On LLM Engineering with Python (Part 1)
Hands-On LLM Engineering with Python (Part 1)
**REGISTER BELOW FOR MORE AVAILABLE DATES!** ↓↓↓↓↓ **[https://luma.com/stelios](https://luma.com/stelios)** \-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\- **Who is this for?** Students, developers, and anyone interested in using **Large Language Models (LLMs)** to build real software solutions with \*\* Python. *Tired of vibe coding with AI tools? Want to actually understand and own your code, instead of relying on black-box magic? This session shows you how to build LLM systems properly, with full control and clear engineering principles.* **** **Who is leading the session?** The session is led by **[Dr. Stelios Sotiriadis](https://www.linkedin.com/in/stelios-sotiriadis)**[,](https://www.linkedin.com/in/stelios-sotiriadis) CEO of **[Warestack](https://www.warestack.com/),** Associate Professor and MSc Programme Director at Birkbeck, University of London, specialising in cloud computing, distributed systems, and AI engineering. *Stelios holds a PhD from the University of Derby, completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Toronto, and has worked on industry and research projects with Huawei, IBM, Autodesk, and multiple startups. Since moving to London in 2018, he has been teaching at Birkbeck. In 2021, he founded Warestack, building software for startups around the world.* **** **What we’ll cover?** A hands-on introduction to building software with LLMs using **Python**, **Ollama**, and **LiteLLM**, including: * How LLMs, embeddings, and agents work. * Calling local models with Ollama or cloud models (OpenAI, Gemini and more). * Using LiteLLM for custom prompts and tool-calling. * Building simple agents from scratch. * Introduction to RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation). * Working with vector databases (ChromaDB) and vector similarity search library (FAISS). * Storing, searching, and retrieving embeddings. * Introduction to Streamlit for interactive data apps. * End-to-end examples you can run on your own machine. This session focuses on theory, fundamentals and real code you can re-use. **Why LiteLLM?** [LiteLLM ](https://docs.litellm.ai/docs/)gives you low-level control to build custom LLM solutions your own way, without a heavy framework like LangChain, so you understand how everything works and design your own architecture. A dedicated **LangChain** session will follow for those who want to go further. **What are the requirements?** Bring a laptop with **Python installed** (Windows, macOS, or Linux), along with Visual Studio Code or a similar IDE, with at least **10GB of free disk space** and **8GB of RAM**. > *This space is needed for running local models during the workshop.* > *If you don’t have a suitable laptop, please contact Stelios ([stelios.sotiriadis@warestack.com](mailto:stelios.sotiriadis@warestack.com)) before registering.* **What is the format?** A 3-hour live session with: * Interactive theory blocks * Hands-on coding * Step-by-step exercises * Small group support * Three 10-minute breaks * Q&A and class quizzes This is a **highly practical, hands-on class** focused on code and building working LLM systems. **What are the prerequisites?** A good understanding of programming with Python is required (basic to intermediate level). I assume you are already comfortable writing Python scripts. **What comes after?** Participants will receive an optional mini capstone project with one-to-one personalised feedback. **Is it just one session?** This is the first session in a new sequence on applied AI, covering agents, RAG systems, vector databases, and production-ready LLM workflows. Later sessions will dive deeper into topics such as embeddings with deep neural networks, LangChain, advanced retrieval, and multi-agent architectures. > *You can decide afterwards whether you’d like to join future sessions.* **How many participants?** To keep this interactive, **only 15 spots** are available. Please register as soon as possible.
Rabble - Fitness Through Games!
Rabble - Fitness Through Games!
A Rabble session is 1 hour of fun and social team games. Each game disguises high-intensity intervals within the rules, giving you an effective, all-body workout without even realising it. We play a bunch of different games at each session (like British Bulldog, Capture the Flag, Dodgeball, Frisbee and many more), and every class is different. Sessions are open to all, no matter your sporting ability. Each game is explained before we start, so there's no need to have played any of the games before. Come solo or bring friends! And stay at the end for the social part! Who knew getting fit could be this fun? **TO BOOK**: It's essential that you book onto sessions via our website, using the link below; due to restrictions on games and preparation times we cannot accept walk-ins, or late arrivals. This hands-on session introduces you to Spark in Microsoft Fabric Notebooks—a powerful and accessible way to process and analyze big data using familiar tools in the Microsoft ecosystem. We’ll break down key Spark concepts like distributed computing, DataFrames, and lazy evaluation, then show how they come to life inside Fabric’s notebook experience. You’ll see practical demos that cover loading, transforming, and analyzing large datasets—while leveraging Fabric’s modern data stack, including OneLake, Dataflows, and Pipelines. You’ll also learn how to choose between Spark and pure Python notebooks in Fabric, based on execution needs, data integration, and use case fit. Whether you're a SQL pro, BI developer, or data engineer, this session will give you the tools and confidence to start using Spark in your own projects—no cluster management required. \*Please note, that we will be using Microsoft Teams for the online portion of this meeting. You may want to join a few minutes early to ensure you do not have any issues. If you are attending in person, there are large TVs at the office, and you do not need to bring a laptop or use Teams.
In-Person Event: The Answers to Depression & Anxiety
In-Person Event: The Answers to Depression & Anxiety
This is an in-person meeting. At this meeting you will get answers to depression and anxiety. Find out the source of them and how to get rid of them. Did you know that unwanted emotions like anxiety, depression, unhappiness, loneliness, hopelessness, anger, fear, or feelings of irritation don’t just fall on you for no reason. They are not random occurrences that simply happen to people's minds. They are definitely not due to a chemical imbalance in your brain from some nebulous chemical reaction "by chance". Your negative emotions are the symptoms of the painful experiences that you have which are not healed, and which are still affecting you. The effects of these painful experiences are exacerbated by the pressures or difficulties of the other problems in your life. Come to our Meetup, where we can introduce you to some of the knowledge, tools and techniques of the breakthroughs in the field of the mind that we can apply to this ever important area of life. Be sure to click on the red "Attend" button below to come to this local event. We look forward to seeing you there. This group is created by the Hubbard Dianetics Foundation of Central Ohio and Church of Scientology of Central Ohio.
