📣📣📣 Hey there, fitness fanatics! Guess what? We're expanding to the Kowloon side because we just can't get enough of those endorphins! 🎉🎉🎉
𝐀𝐁𝐎𝐔𝐓 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐒 𝐒𝐄𝐒𝐒𝐈𝐎𝐍 🙌
Last year, we kicked off our workout journey at the Hoi Bun Rd Park with a small group of ~-10 dedicated regulars. But now, we're ready to amp it up with Fitfam and fill that Thursday void with some serious fitness fun! 🏋🏻‍♂️🏋🏻‍♂️🏋🏻‍♂️
And hey, it's not just about the sweat and muscles (although those are definitely a bonus). It's also a fantastic opportunity to expand your network 🕸🕸🕸 and mingle with like-minded professionals in the area, e.g. folks at the Citi Tower, Quayside, and more! 🌇🏙🌇
So, what's in store for you during our workout session? Get ready for a heart-pumping, calorie-crushing 1-hour HIIT/CrossFit extravaganza suitable for all fitness levels. 🥇🥈🥉 Don't forget to bring plenty of water to stay hydrated, and if you have a yoga mat lying around, feel free to bring it along (totally optional though).
We've got ~10 regulars outside of Fitfam who don't always sign up on Meetup, so don't be discouraged if you're the first and only one to register. We promise you won't be alone in this fitness adventure! 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️
So, let's sweat, burn some calories, and have a blast together! Get ready to make those endorphins dance and forge some awesome connections. Sweat & Connect. 💦💦💦

2026 January first pub crawl!
2026 January first pub crawl!
It's 2026! First pub crawl of the year! Time to drink with strangers from the interwebs! We will officially start at 19:30 from Gurbeer inside [The One](https://www.google.com/maps/place/The+ONE/@22.2998217,114.1701106,17z/data=!3m2!4b1!5s0x340400edcc362aaf:0x65b396fd6da7e625!4m6!3m5!1s0x340400edc96bc43b:0xed72170baf673423!8m2!3d22.2998217!4d114.1726855!16s%2Fm%2F09gg7d3?entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI1MDcyMy4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D) shopping mall 100 Nathan Road This is a bottle shop. There are no seats. All standing room only. We will stand around for the hour and drink and chill. The prices of the drinks are reasonable for what they are since there is no services. At 20:30 we will go to Tequila Mex, [33-35 Chatham Road South, TST](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Tequila+Mex/@22.2982093,114.1753096,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m6!3m5!1s0x3404015a20ca35c1:0x39f9a1b3997fa578!8m2!3d22.2982093!4d114.1753096!16s%2Fg%2F11x2pz_ktx?entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI2MDEwNC4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D) Formerly Tequila Jack, now under new ownership. Sadly the variety of beer is less than before, but the options are still good and the food is decent. At 22:00 we finish at my favorite bar: Enso [Dolford Mansion, Shop D&E G/F, 1-3 Chatham Ct, Tsim Sha Tsui](https://www.google.com.hk/maps/place/Enso+%E5%86%86%E7%9B%B8/@22.3018715,114.1732529,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m6!3m5!1s0x340401073aa19c75:0x823c6978944f8e8e!8m2!3d22.3018715!4d114.1758278!16s%2Fg%2F11rjrldr84?entry=ttu) Sadly Enso will be closing their doors next month in mid February. This will be the final time we will run a pub crawl with them. As per usual I will be wearing the [Snoo](https://www.reddit.com/r/plushies/comments/12pzy79/did_you_know_theres_a_snoo_plush/#lightbox) stuff toy so we will be easy to spot. Strongly suggest everyone to pay for your drink as soon as you order it. The bill often get confusing when we have a large crowd. Please send me your whatsapp number so I can put you into the super secret elite whatsapp group. Finally, if you had a good time please leave a good review for our venues. Good venues are closing left and right in HK and they need all the help they can get.

I do not know how many there are or if they will be in service. You might need to get creative : ) **Stores:** There are stores at the start and end of the trails. It is best to come prepared with food and water. **Meeting Point:** The Victoria Peak - Gino's Gelato **Time:** 10:00 am (SHARP!) **IMPORTANT:** Out of respect to the members that arrive on time, we will only be able to wait a maximum of 5 minutes. Repetition
Repetition
Repetition is everywhere in the city — in motion, in habit, in design. It's the same shape, gesture, or element echoed again and again. Sometimes it’s choreographed — uniforms, queues, synchronized movement. Sometimes it’s accidental — a row of crates, a sea of matching umbrellas, three people checking their phones in the same posture. Repetition brings structure to an image, but it also brings energy. And often, it's the **one thing that breaks the repetition** that makes the shot work — the one person out of line, the one object that doesn’t belong. Patterns are an inevitable part of repetition. Repetition creates patterns, so at some juncture, you might find yourself thinking in terms of pattern—and thats okay, but this isn’t really about finding patterns — it’s about repetition on the street. **Try to think more people and objects rather than architectural facades.** ### **What to look for:** * People walking in sync, standing in formation, or mirroring gestures * Matching outfits — uniforms, coordinated couples, or strangers dressed alike * Rows of identical objects — bins, crates, chairs, signs, wheels, bikes * Repeated signage — fonts, symbols, stickers * Traffic or pedestrian flow — feet, wheels, umbrellas * Accidental rhythm — three people on their phones, same haircut, same shoes ### **Tips:** * **Zoom in** on the rhythm — isolate the repetition inside the frame * **Wait** for the right moment — repetition in people often lasts just a beat * **Look for the break** — the one thing that stands out in the pattern * **Work with time** — repetition is often about timing, not just space ### **Bonus Challenge:** Photograph a **sequence of three or more** repeated elements in motion — footsteps, gestures, or actions — and see if you can catch the rhythm in a single frame. *** ### **Meet 2:30:** **Tsim Sha Tsui MTR Exit C2**, street level, 2:30PM sharp. From there, explore the surrounding streets — all rich in crowds, symmetry, and urban rhythm. There’s the Prominade to the south, Nathan Road action, smaller streets in between, Kowloon Park, and Canton Road. ### **Regroup between 4:15-4:30:** **Delaney’s Irish Pub**, basement of Mary Building, 71–77 Peking Road, TST. Get here between 4:15-4:30PM. Please stay a while to share your experience, thoughts, and maybe some images while grabbing a drink (or more). **After all this:** Please post 5 of your best images from the shoot that fit today’s project. And PLEASE, be a participant in commenting on other images. Content reactions (oh what a cute dog) and general comments (apples look tasty) are always welcome, but respectful and constructive critiques on composition or technique are even better. It's part of the process and valuable for your fellow photographers.

One for the Ages: Columbus Museum of Art / Gemüt Biergarten
One for the Ages: Columbus Museum of Art / Gemüt Biergarten
**History** The Columbus Museum of Art traces its roots to 1878, when it was founded as the Columbus Gallery of Fine Arts, becoming the first art museum chartered in Ohio. A group of civic leaders established it to bring touring exhibitions and build a public collection. In 1887, it merged with the Columbus Art School (now CCAD) fostering a long partnership in arts education. Initially without a permanent home, the museum operated from temporary spaces until 1919, when art patron Francis C. Sessions deeded his Victorian mansion on East Broad Street to house the growing institution. As collections expanded in the early 20th century, the need for a dedicated building became clear. The Sessions mansion was demolished, and a new Italian Renaissance Revival structure was erected on the same site, opening to the public in 1931. This elegant building, with its grand steps and arches, remains the museum's core today and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1992. Key early acquisitions, like the Ferdinand Howald Collection of modernist works, helped establish its focus on American and European art. In the late 20th and early 21st centuries, the museum evolved significantly. It added the Ross Wing in 1974 for exhibitions and renamed itself the Columbus Museum of Art in 1978 during its centennial. A major renovation and expansion completed in 2015 introduced the Margaret M. Walter Wing and Center for Creativity, emphasizing interactive experiences. In 2018, the donation of the Pizzuti Collection and its Short North building expanded the museum's reach into contemporary art, solidifying its role as a dynamic cultural hub. The Columbus Museum of Art boasts a strong collection of late 19th- and early 20th-century European modern art, featuring well-known masters like Claude Monet, whose Impressionist landscapes capture light and atmosphere in ways familiar to many. Visitors can also encounter works by Henri Matisse, renowned for his bold use of color, and Edgar Degas, famous for his graceful depictions of ballerinas and everyday scenes. The museum's early Cubist holdings include pieces by Pablo Picasso, offering glimpses into his revolutionary fragmented style that reshaped modern art. On the American side, the collection highlights iconic figures such as Edward Hopper, whose evocative paintings of urban solitude and quiet American life are widely recognized, and Norman Rockwell, celebrated for his heartfelt illustrations of everyday Americana that have appeared on countless magazine covers. These accessible works by household-name artists provide an inviting entry point for those new to art museums, blending European innovation with distinctly American storytelling. **Summary** For this event, we will tour the [Columbus Museum of Art](https://www.columbusmuseum.org/), which is always free on Sundays. Afterward, we will head over to the nearby, highly-rated, and popular Gemüt Biergarten for drinks and food. Columbus's art museum is not large, and we won't need to rush through in order to see everything. However, it's a little windy (with a long "i") and maze-like in spots, and if you've never gone through it before, it can be a little confusing at first. **Tickets and Pricing** The Museum is free on Sundays. **Parking** The short answer here is that you can park for free (in the Safe Auto lot) when you visit the Museum on weekends. The longer answer is that the Museum has a dedicated parking lot, whose entrance and exit are on E Gay St, just north of Broad St. You can see this parking lot [here on Google Maps](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Columbus+Museum+Of+Art+Parking/@39.9648853,-82.9882364,18.67z/data=!4m14!1m7!3m6!1s0x883888d20177f111:0xbf595a71d9d8c8c5!2sColumbus+Museum+of+Art!8m2!3d39.9642074!4d-82.9878972!16zL20vMDM0Z3F6!3m5!1s0x883888d21f05e00f:0xb72a56e4ac2d4fba!8m2!3d39.9651763!4d-82.9881746!16s%2Fg%2F11f3pdx3tx?entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI1MTIwOS4wIKXMDSoKLDEwMDc5MjA3MUgBUAM%3D). This parking has normally been $7, unless you buy something either in the Museum's gift shop or café, in which case it's $5 (you have to bring your receipt to the Museum's front desk to get this discount). However, the Museum is currently in the process of upgrading their parking lot's intercom (or some such), and until such time as this is completed, parking in this lot is free. Once this upgrade is complete, though, the charge is likely to increase from $7 to $10. This upgrade is supposed to be done by the time we run this event, but given how these things work, I wouldn't be totally surprised if it's not complete by then. You'll know the lot is free if the gate arms to both the entrance and exit are fixed in a raised position when you arrive. However, there's a large parking lot for Safe Auto on the other side of N Washington Ave, between Boone St and Hutton Pl. You can see this parking lot [here on Google Maps](https://www.google.com/maps/place/39%C2%B057'54.4%22N+82%C2%B059'13.9%22W/@39.9651069,-82.9884087,18z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m4!3m3!8m2!3d39.965105!4d-82.987191?entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI1MTIwOS4wIKXMDSoKLDEwMDc5MjA3MUgBUAM%3D). Visitors to the Museum may always park for free in this lot on weekends. **The End of History** After completing our dissertation in [Art Appreciation](https://www.facebook.com/groups/879880336006462/posts/1734229683904852/), we'll head over to the highly-rated [Gemüt Biergarten](https://www.gemutbiergarten.com/) for [drinks and food](https://www.gemutbiergarten.com/#full-menu). The brewery is located in [Olde Towne East](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Olde+Towne+East,+Columbus,+OH/@39.9600896,-82.9935095,14z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m6!3m5!1s0x883888c29b9d98cb:0x55fc96810facc832!8m2!3d39.9579938!4d-82.9761254!16s%2Fm%2F026vlz4?entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI1MTIwOS4wIKXMDSoKLDEwMDc5MjA3MUgBUAM%3D), and its actual address is [734 Oak St, Columbus, OH 43205](https://www.google.com/maps/place/734+Oak+St,+Columbus,+OH+43205/@39.9633755,-82.9808618,16z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m6!3m5!1s0x883888c53426d289:0x4aec638d8a5195d4!8m2!3d39.9633755!4d-82.9808618!16s%2Fg%2F11c4wy250w?entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI1MTIwOS4wIKXMDSoKLDEwMDc5MjA3MUgBUAM%3D). Gemüt Biergarten has a free parking lot that isn't small but also isn't huge. Street parking, however, is always free across Columbus on [Sundays and holidays](https://www.columbus.gov/files/sharedassets/city/v/1/public-service/right-of-way-permit/on-street-parking-out-of-service-policy-and-procedure-final-8.15.2022-signed.pdf), so I think we'll be okay with parking. The bigger issue may be the weather. The brewery has a good-sized outdoor patio that is covered and heated in the winter. However, that doesn't mean this patio will be warm. The inside of the brewery is "okay-sized," but again, the brewery is popular and by the time we get there, we may have no choice but to sit outside. If it's cold, I can and will ask them to fire up some of their additional outdoor heaters, which I think should be enough, but please bring something to keep you warm just in case we end up outside. Finally, while food at the Biergarten can be a little overpriced, in my experience it is excellent, and you are likely to enjoy whatever you get. We should be there by 1:00 if you can't make the Museum and just want to meet us for drinks.

Happy 8th Birthday, GOhio! @ Pins Mechanical!!! 🎂 🎈 🍨 🎁 💐 🧁 🎉 🥳 🍰 🪅 📅
Happy 8th Birthday, GOhio! @ Pins Mechanical!!! 🎂 🎈 🍨 🎁 💐 🧁 🎉 🥳 🍰 🪅 📅
*GOhio!* turns 8!! 🥳 Come celebrate with us at [Pins Mechanical](https://www.pinsbar.com/locations/easton)! 😄 **Summary** Pins Mechanical Co. is a social entertainment venue that combines old-school games like duckpin bowling, pinball, and other classic arcade and table games with craft cocktails, local beers, and punch. The vintage-industrial atmosphere is designed for playful, face-to-face gatherings with friends, family, and colleagues, offering a casual and lively alternative to a typical bar. Pins' Easton location spans over 38,000 square feet, making it the largest in the United States. This massive entertainment venue features two floors, a mezzanine level with stadium seating, and three full-service bars. It offers 16 duckpin bowling lanes, two indoor bocce courts, and more than 60 classic and modern pinball and arcade games. For additional fun, the location is known for its two outdoor patios, an indoor slide, and an expanded patio pong setup. **Activities** As noted below, some machines take actual quarters. Pins has two change machines (one downstairs and one upstairs) that accept ones, fives, or tens (only), and return quarters (only). * *Duckpin Bowling* [Like Bowling](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duckpin_bowling) but with smaller balls, stubby pins, and no oil on the lanes. The cost is $9 per game per person. * *Pinball* [Who](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Who)'s a [wizard](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pinball_Wizard) on these [retro machines](https://pinballmap.com/map/?by_location_id=15311)? At $1 per play, everyone! Takes quarters. * *Arcade* Play classics like Gorf, Pac-Man, Gorf, Donkey Kong, Gorf, Galaga, and Gorf! The best part is, there's Gorf! And all the arcade games are free! * *Patio Pong* The classic college party staple but bigger. Instead of tossing a ping pong ball into cups, you use a regular ball and oversized buckets. There are two of these upstairs, and they're both free! * *Ping Pong* The most popular sport in China! They have two ping pong tables downstairs and two more ping pong tables upstairs. For those of you who have studied topological spaces and set theory, you will know this means they have four total ping pong tables. They have bubble gum dispensers with ping pong balls in them for 25¢ each. The dispensers take quarters. However, they also have racks where they store the ping pong paddles, and in these racks are slots for ping pong balls. It's not uncommon to see balls already here, so there's a chance you may be able to play ping pong for free if you want to. * *Hookie* You can't put your eye out! The safe alternative to darts: Hook thrown rings on a board. Outdoors on the upstairs patio, and free! * *Bocce* Like bowling, except there’s turf and a lot more balls. You can also knock your opponent’s balls out of the way. There are two of these upstairs, and they're both free! * *Foosball* Everyone loves [foosball](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Table_football)! 50¢ a game. Takes quarters. * *Giant Jenga* Stack massive wooden blocks into a tower, then take turns pulling out one block at a time without collapsing the tower. There are four of these sprinkled throughout the venue (two downstairs and two upstairs, with one on each patio), and they're all free! * *Skeeball* There are three skeeball machines on the first floor (near the Gorf machine!), and they're all free! * *Giant Connect Four* On the outdoor patio upstairs, and free! * *Bubble Hockey* This is upstairs. Up to four people can play at once, and it costs $1. Takes quarters. * *Cornhole* There are two cornhole lanes upstairs, and they're both free! * *Basketball* There are two basketball machines downstairs. They're tucked behind the downstairs bar, so they're not always obvious unless you go look for them. They're $2 per play, and they take quarters. * *NES and Sega Genesis video games* These are collections, downstairs (near the Gorf machine!), of video games that you can play for free! * *The Big Metal Indoor Slide* This large two-story slide is for kids, and certainly no adults would ride this. After all, it's not like it's free or anything. **Outdoor Patio** Pins at Easton actually has two outdoor patios. But for our purposes, only the upstairs one matters. See, it will be winter and likely cold. But their upstairs patio has multiple ceiling heaters and two massive gas fire pits that put out a ton of heat. Sitting out here may be a real option. As mentioned above, the upstairs outdoor patio has one of the venue's two Patio Pong setups, one of their multiple Giant Jengas, the Giant Connect Four, and Hookie. **Food** Pins doesn't serve food, but there's a [Mikey's Late Night Slice](https://www.latenightslice.com/) next door. This Mikey's is basically an extension of the Easton Pins; there's a large open doorway between both establishments. Mikey's has a fountain dispenser with Coke products. You can also get Coke and Diet Coke (but not Coke Zero, like you can at Mikey's) at the bars in Pins, but I think the quality of the soda pop from Mikey's fountain is better than that from the bar hoses Pins uses to dispense soft drinks. You are also quite allowed at Pins to either bring food in or order it in via your favorite delivery app. **Parking** I recommend parking in the [Worth Garage](https://eastontowncenter.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/parking-at-easton-updated-file-sept-25.pdf). It's literally right next door to Pins, and it's free as long as you park on Level 2 or above. They recently started charging people to park on Level 1, and you pay for parking on this level the same way you pay for street parking in Columbus, with the [ParkColumbus](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.parkmobile.parkcolumbus&hl=en_US&pli=1) app. I've seen them enforce this by ticketing people's cars, but I don't know how they actually compel payment. The garage is not a public street that actual cops can write you tickets for parking illegally on. If you have an actual ticket from a cop that you don't pay, they can go so far as to issue a warrant for your arrest. But all Easton has, seemingly, is, "[Please pay our ticket](https://eastonpreferredpark.com/)." Still, in my ongoing efforts to eliminate needless stress and aggravation from my life, I just park above the first Level. The actual address of the garage is [4049 Worth Ave, Columbus, OH 43219](https://www.google.com/maps/place/4049+Worth+Ave,+Columbus,+OH+43219/@40.0542293,-82.9137962,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m6!3m5!1s0x88388a86de3af559:0xc1dc8b4661fc834f!8m2!3d40.0542293!4d-82.9137962!16s%2Fg%2F11sgzjp4ml?entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI1MDkyNC4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D). However, your GPS is stupid. The actual entrances to the garage are on the cross steets Brighton Rose Way and Fenlon St, not Worth Ave. Just keep this in mind once you get to the garage. **Where we'll meet** I'll post in the comments where I am. People will obviously want to explore different areas of the venue over the course of the event (and there's a lot to explore), but please just let me know (as in, come find me) once you've arrived. **Peroration** Come on out and say hi! 😄
