Karaoke every Wednesday
Karaoke every Wednesday
Wednesday is karaoke day. Every Wednesday we gather to sing. Come with a friend or alone, with or without a voice. The format is simple: show up, grab a microphone, and sing whatever you want. Or don't sing, just support others. As usual, the meeting place is Top Club. If you haven't been before, you can get to know the space at the same time. We're looking forward to seeing you this Wednesday. See you there! Tiekamies tur!

Philosophy Discussion Meetup #4
Philosophy Discussion Meetup #4
## Riga Philosophy Discussion Meetup #4 Welcome to an open philosophy discussion for curious minds, thoughtful conversation, and respectful debate. This event is where people from different backgrounds gather to exchange ideas, challenge assumptions, and explore life’s bigger questions together. The purpose of this meetup is not to “win” arguments or prove others wrong, but to think deeply, listen carefully, and enjoy meaningful conversation. Whether you are new to philosophy or have studied it for years, everyone is welcome. **Topics may include:** * *Ethics and morality* * *Consciousness and free will* * *Meaning and purpose* * *Technology and society* * *Politics and human nature* * *Happiness and suffering* * *Logic, reason, and belief* * *Artificial intelligence and the future* * *Classic philosophical ideas and modern dilemmas* For our fourth meetup, we will begin by proposing several discussion topics. The group can then vote, and by majority we will explore whichever topic generates the most interest. Possible discussion topics: * *Are humans naturally good or selfish?* * *Can happiness be the highest goal?* * *Ethics of artificial intelligence* * *Is ignorance bliss?* * *Should emotions guide decisions?* The format will be informal, open, and conversational. Everyone is encouraged to participate, ask questions, and share perspectives respectfully. **Simply look for the table with the small Latvian flag on it outside.** (or inside if the weather is not so nice) *Note: The conversation and all discussion will solely be in English.*

The Sparrow - Mary Doria Russell
The Sparrow - Mary Doria Russell
Join us for The Sparrow by Mary Doria Russell In 2019, humanity finally finds proof of extraterrestrial life when a listening post in Puerto Rico picks up exquisite singing from a planet that will come to be known as Rakhat. While United Nations diplomats endlessly debate a possible first contact mission, the Society of Jesus quietly organizes an eight-person scientific expedition of its own. What the Jesuits find is a world so beyond comprehension that it will lead them to question what it means to be "human".
