🎭 ¿Qué vamos a ver?

🍿 F*ck the Small Talk #4
**[🎟️ Sign up here to grab your ticket 🎟️](https://luma.com/ftst4zurich)**
***If you're on your phone and can't access the link, click on the link in the comments :)***
FTST has traveled the world from Berlin to Melbourne, London, Lisbon, Mexico City, to Iceland, and is now **back in Zurich for 3rd year in a row**! 🇨🇭
**📦 WHAT'S THIS ABOUT?**
FTST is an out-of-the-box **social experience** where strangers come together for an afternoon of meaningful, fun, and deep conversation. It’s also a different & cool way of meeting new people by getting a bit out of your comfort zone and skipping the small talk!
Join us for **games**, **talks**, and **connections** with **friends you haven’t met yet**. Join if you get annoyed after being asked what you do, where you are from, and how long you've been in Zurich every single time you meet someone. If you feel that there are better questions in life, this is the place for you. 🙌
**📓 HOW DOES IT WORK?**
We start with a short & sweet intro talk followed by a few light-hearted group games to warm up. After that, we split you up into small groups and start with the conversation rounds (with 3-4 people). We'll have awesome question cards that will guide the flow of the conversation. You'll be guided by an experienced host who'll make sure everything goes smoothly. 🍭
**🕹 HOW TO JOIN?**
**[Take 1 minute to sign up 👈](https://luma.com/ftst4zurich)**
***If you're on your phone and can't access the link, click on the link in the comments :)***
Our events are **limited to 30 handpicked guests** to ensure a cozy atmosphere. **Confirm your spot on the link above** to make it happen! We prioritize a balance of gender and age. If you're invited you'll receive a confirmation within 48 hours via Luma (our ticketing platform)
📣 We won't validate your payment unless you've been accepted! (which you most likely will ❤️)
**🧧 HOW MUCH IS IT?**
The cost to attend is 23-25 CHF and includes the following:
🕰️ 3 hours of facilitated and curated activities
👥 A space to meet new people in the least boring way possible
💛 Supporting our mission to slowly eliminate small talk around the world
🎫 Also includes those pesky ticket fees!
If you aren't able to afford this just send us a message and we’ll figure something out. Student/low-income tickets available. 🙂
**🌳 WHERE IS IT?**
We host our events in awesome bars & parks across the city. We only reveal the location to ticket holders 24 hours before the event.
**💛 WHAT THEY SAY**
🗣 “This is the kind of activity humanity needs every weekend. Thank you for all.” - Sonya
🗣 “I loved F\*ck the small talk, I was a little bit nervous at first but they are pros at making you feel comfortable with the rest of the group, the activities are really fun and I enjoyed every second (consider that the one who's saying this is very, very shy). Give it a try!” - Brenda
🗣 "it’s a wonderful experience, it’s like being a kid again, when you were at the park, playing with other kids, and just decided you were going to be best friends for the next hours. Maybe you’ll never see those kids again. But that hour was amazing because you both opened up and trusted each other"- Sara
🗣 “F\*ck the Small Talk changes the narrative from "Where are you from?" to "When was the last time you laughed uncontrollably?" and I think that's beautiful.” - Matthias

**🤓 FAQ**
**• Can I come alone?**
Of course, in fact, we encourage it!
**• Can I be late?**
Please don't! Late arrivals will disrupt the floooooooow.
• **I signed up but never got an invite. Why?**
We usually get a high volume of sign-ups yet we like to keep it cozy & only invite around 25 people. We believe this is a good number to ensure an awesome experience, and we’ve learned that it’s easier to build connections with smaller groups! Please try again next time if do not receive an invite - no hard feelings 💛
**• Why do you charge?**
We value our time and put a lot of love, planning, and effort into creating & designing these experiences. ♥️ This is our project/business and what we give to the world and we think everything should be a fair exchange! 🎈

Thirtieth Zurich Coffee Talk Live!
A casual meet-up to get to know people from / around Zurich over a cup of coffee.
Main intention is to be less of a hello-goodbye event, but more to be able to "hang out" and get to know each other in some kind of a hide-out location where you can be sure of a seat: a third place besides home and work, where some distance can be taken from the daily hassles: an a\*\*-hole free zone.
Yes, there is a bit of a format that could be used (see below), although we're not going to "nanny" the whole event: just like in a Swiss association or "Verein": it's up to you to make it a success!
\- walk\-in/socialising
\- round of introduction
\- subject to talk about
\- hanging out
\- dinner \(if I make an exception of eating after 17:00\!\)
Location is always in Zurich's centre (NOT recommended by car!) and will be revealed in due time (please check your messages to confirm, etc.!). If that doesn't work, please write a message in this event, so I can see you're interested!
Hope to see you soon!
Matthew

Summer Social: Let's kick off summer with Adult field day at Shadybowl!
We’re bringing back Adult Field Day.
Last year was a good mix of competition and just hanging out, so we’re doing it again with some new games mixed in. Think team-based challenges, simple races, and a few things inspired by game shows.
You don’t need to be athletic. Most of the fun is just being part of a team and getting to know people you wouldn’t normally talk to.
The goal isn’t really winning. It’s meeting people, laughing a bit, and leaving knowing a few more names than when you showed up.
If you stick around after, we’ll have a potluck, a bonfire, and a couple comedians in the evening.
Bring:
* Something to share for the potluck
* Clothes you can move around in
A small contribution helps keep events sustainable and ensures those who RSVP actually show up. Include your Meetup name + event name in the note. Please send $2 per person to guarantee your spot.

Comedy Night + Open Mic (Bring Wine)
**Comedy Night + Open Mic + Freestyle**: Tristan Shae and friends return to entertain us and to warm the group up for our open mic session. February's Open Mic / Comedy Night was a smash hit and it's worth a second night.
We'll start with Tristan Shae and a couple of his friends. Tristan is an alternative comic from Columbus, Ohio. A counselor by day, Tristan explores how comedy can improve mental health by telling jokes and stories that muse on how absurd life can be from squeaky clean topics to not so clean ones. Tristan produces the variety show Cheaper Than Therapy, hosts the weekly Problem Child Alt Comedy Open Mic at The Attic, and can be found engaging in all sorts of silliness around the city from stand up shows at The Nest Theater, The Attic, or The Funny Bone, to improv and sketch shows with various groups at various venues such as The Hashtag Comedy Club.
**On Freestyle night** \- just bring a bottle to share\. There is NO formal wine tasting like on other weeks\. Door charge is $10 \(cash or Venmo only please\)\. We may have some left over wines to clear out\! Glasses are provided\. Take Care\. See you there\.
**Parking**: There are several public parking lots near the Alive614 hall. Please be careful to NOT park in private parking lots. They do tow. Check Google maps to scope out your space. Anyone who is early could easily find a parking space on the street nearby. I am told that the Chase parking lot is safe after hours.
**Glasses**: …will be provided. Please note that after the wine tasting, the EMPTY glasses need to be returned to the boxes at the service table. Please do not make me hunt down your empty glass. Please be gentle, our glasses are fragile. Uh, they are made of glass!
**Food**: You are welcome to bring a snack to share. It is not required. Most people do though. If no one brings anything, there will be nothing.
**Code of Conduct**: Though mostly understood, it’s still worth mentioning. We don’t have rules per se, but we highly discourage the following topics of discussion because they are likely to incite anti-social responses - Sex, Politics, Religion. Please don’t mistake this as an attempt to limit your free speech rights but rather a guide to a place and time for appropriate discussions.
**After the lights go out**: After the last sip of wine, when we clean up and turn the lights out, if you still haven’t had enough of us, it is typical for a group to get together and go to a local eatery for food and/or drinks or coffee. Please join us.
Again, We look forward to meeting new members and reuniting with old friends.
Sincerely, ***Paul Uttermohlen***,

Contra dance with Big Scioty May 2 - Clinton Heights Lutheran church
**Caller: Richard Ades**
**Band: The McKenzies**
**Clinton Heights Lutheran Church**
**15 Clinton Heights Ave, Columbus, OH 43202**
WHAT IS CONTRA DANCING? Picture the Grand Ball scenes like you’ve seen in period films such as “Pride and Prejudice”, where the dancers are lined up in long lines, across from each other. That’s English Country Dancing, the predecessor of contra dancing. Now, add moves like “swing your partner” and “do-si-do,” like you’ve seen in square dancing. Set it to fabulous, high energy, live music with fiddles, guitars, percussion and more, alá “Riverdance.” Finally, set the whole scene down in the middle of Woodstock, with a hip, groovy atmosphere, a bit of tie-dye, and hints of counter-culture attitude. THAT’s Contra Dancing!
Wear cool and comfortable clothes (you will get warm) and clean shoes that won't mark up our nice wood floor.
Be sure to come for the beginner's lesson from 7:30 - 8:00, followed by dancing 8:00 - 10:30. All dances are taught; we will help you learn! Beginners always welcome, no need to bring a partner.
Cost is $10.00 adults, $5.00 ages 12-26. Under 12 free. Free parking in church lot.
For more information contact me or check out our website: [www.bigscioty.com](http://www.bigscioty.com/)
Please bring your own refillable water bottle.
