We'll check out 29th Parallel Coffee in Fairfax Station. We plan to grab a coffee and head to Burke Lake Park and walk around the lake (weather permitting). There are a couple of parking areas at the park. I marked the parking we're planning to meet at the park. We hope to start the walk around 11:30AM. If you're a Fairfax County resident (with an ID), parking is free, otherwise they charge for parking. Please have a picture profile so we can recognize you in the meetup.

Join us in celebrating International Yoga Day with a special talk by author Mark Mays. In this engaging session, Mark Mays will guide a live meditation and share his personal journey of self-realization, along with insights from his book Tell the World: An Author’s Journey of Meditation and Inner Transformation, offering a deeper understanding of inner peace and self-awareness through Sahaja Yoga. It's my birthday! Let's craft. We'll be meeting at Quill and Crumbs at the Shakespeare Folger Library in SE. The Shakespeare Folger Library is about 3 blocks from the Capitol South metro. Head up First as you get out of the station, pass the Library of Congress and the Capitol, turn right on East Capitol, and the Folger is on the right. The entrance is around the side, not through the front of the building. Head upstairs to the cafe and we'll be at the tables at the back. Bring your own cross stitch, knitting, crochet, or other portable craft.

Hello piano players: Our next meeting will take place on Sunday, June 21 from 1:00 P.M. to 5 P.M. at the home of Jerry Butters at 5910 Cromwell Drive in Bethesda, just a few blocks from my house. There is ample street parking within a block or two of his house. Thank you for hosting, Jerry! Jerry will open his door at 12:30 if you would like to warm up on his piano. It is a Steinway C, made in Hamburg, Germany. It is in a small music room but adjoins another room where there is overflow seating available. Also, reach out to a friend and work up a duet—they are fun and always welcome. In the past we have had duets with two pianos, with singers and with the clarinet. They bring a nice variety of music to our meetings. It would be nice to expand to string instruments as well. We will have snacks, finger food, and light drinks, but your donations of food and drink are always welcome. We hope you can attend on the 21st. Jerry is looking forward to hosting. We are NPS Weed Warriors and Arlington Regional Master Naturalists and you should volunteer with us on Sunday, May 17 to learn about nature and remove invasive plants from everyone's favorite urban island. Meet us at the entrance to the bridge (on the parking lot side, look for the sign) at 10:00 and bring your garden gloves and loppers/pruners if you have them. If not, we can provide gloves and tools. Wear long sleeves and pants and don't forget a water bottle. We will have tasks ranging from easy (cutting English ivy and honeysuckle vines from trees) to hard (sawing down bush honeysuckle). Parking at TRI can be tight if it's a pretty day. When the parking lot is full, you can park in Rosslyn and take the trail down. If you can bike or walk or take public transit, that's wonderful.
