The Psychology and Personal Growth Circle: Thinking, Fast and Slow
The Psychology and Personal Growth Circle: Thinking, Fast and Slow
Welcome to our cozy **The Psychology and Personal Growth Circle** which is part of the Social Book Club! We will meet to discuss the book “**Thinking, Fast and Slow**" (499 pages) written by Daniel Kahneman. The idea is to connect with like minded readers that love to grow and get to know themselves better through reading and especially applying knowledge from books. We meet up once a month and talk about our progress applying knowledge from a certain book and our experience. The event will take place at the volunteer organisation **MUT**. It is an organisation to supports humans, animals and the environment especially in Vienna. MUT or the Social Book Club look forward to some donation to cover the cost of this event. If you would like to help, please bring some cash with you. Book Description: In the highly anticipated *Thinking, Fast and Slow*, Kahneman takes us on a groundbreaking tour of the mind and explains the two systems that drive the way we think. System 1 is fast, intuitive, and emotional; System 2 is slower, more deliberative, and more logical. Kahneman exposes the extraordinary capabilities—and also the faults and biases—of fast thinking, and reveals the pervasive influence of intuitive impressions on our thoughts and behavior. The impact of loss aversion and overconfidence on corporate strategies, the difficulties of predicting what will make us happy in the future, the challenges of properly framing risks at work and at home, the profound effect of cognitive biases on everything from playing the stock market to planning the next vacation—each of these can be understood only by knowing how the two systems work together to shape our judgments and decisions. If anyone would like to hang out **after** the book club discussion, you’re more than welcome to join us! We’ll be having a picnic and just relaxing afterward. All the best Andrea & Ani

Social Film Club – 31th Edition
Social Film Club – 31th Edition
A Branch of the **Social Book Club** focusing on International Cinema. I find films based on the taste profile of the cinephiles that regularly attend. A Reminder that the films for this week are a bit longer than usual so maybe bring some snacks and drinks. We the Lovely Folks of the **Social Film Club, are back for the 31th Edition** this Saturday! 🎬🌿🕊️ ☀️ We start at **19:00** hrs. Films chosen for this week are: 🎥 Either one of these two humane, quietly powerful films — we'll decide together: * **Dodes'ka-den (1970)** Kurosawa's first color film, set in a Tokyo slum built on a garbage dump. Poverty, dreams, madness, and dignity — a mosaic of lives on the margins. Vivid, strange, and deeply compassionate. IMDb: 7.4/10 – Runtime: 2h 20m. OR * **Early Summer (1951)** Ozu's gentle portrait of a Tokyo family gathered around a daughter's marriage. Tradition, independence, generations, and change — told through small gestures. Warm, patient, and quietly profound. IMDb: 8.1/10 – Runtime: 2h 5m. 🍽️ Post Meetup Food at **China Zentrum Stiegengasse if it is still open by the time the film ends (or else we improvise) !** 😁😁 If you just joined, please fill up this survey so we can better tailor the films we show. [https://forms.gle/juPwhehSV2NosLee9](https://forms.gle/juPwhehSV2NosLee9) **PS -** I can guarantee comfortable seating for 10 people. People in the waitlist can show up as well, because a lot of people sign up but don't show up. The event takes place at the Social Welfare organization called **MUT**. It is an organisation that works on social issues such as Emergency & Homeless Assistance, Food Rescue and Environment Protection. MUT is a non profit organization that provides us with the space to host the event. A small donation towards their cause helps them a lot.
Run+B-fast

Hi Running fellows, Whether you’re a walker, new to running, a semi-pro, a marathonist or a sprint star - if you want to start your weekend in an active way and enjoy the outdoors in lovely surroundings with a fun, international and multilingual group of people, you are welcome to join us! Every Saturday at 9:30 am, we meet, we run, in the magnificent Schönbrunn park, and then we go for breakfast. Want to discuss politics or the best recipes for banana pancakes? Not a problem. Not feeling social? Tune out with your earbuds - we can talk over breakfast. We are casual. You can be too. What to expect: Start by meeting Adrian, Ali, Liz, Paul and Sonia on-time at 9:30am outside the Schönbrunn U-Bahn stop (exit Grünbergstraße). (Coordinates: 48.1858130, 16.3200640) From there, we walk to the side park entrance where the “running” part begins. The important thing is that you run at your own pace. Typically, small groups of people will run at the same pace as you, so you never have to walk/run alone :) We finish one hour later, at about 10:40am, reconvening just inside the Hietzinger Tor exit. (Coordinates: 48.1858825, 16.3032647). From there, we’re off to breakfast! Breakfast Details: Anker bakery opposite the U4 Hietzing station and depending on the weather, grab something for a picnic in Schönbrunn park, or hang out in the bakery. If you missed us earlier, you can always go there around 10:45. We are a fun group of runners who don’t take things too seriously. We meet, chat, RUN, stretch, chat, EAT and we hang out over a beer every now and then. It's that easy. Please join us for breakfast after the run! The more the merrier. Typically we are 10-30 people, as not everyone who comes signs up on meetup. Important disclaimer: Please only run as much as you feel you can, considering the temperature, weather conditions, your own fitness etc... run and walk at your own pace as the organizers do not assume any liability for any injuries or health issues. Sonia, Adrian, Ali, Paul and Liz

Everyone is welcome to join, test their skills and have some fun together! Open Dialogue – Discovering Together in Vienna
Open Dialogue – Discovering Together in Vienna
We will meet in a calm and friendly place ( Parc, Café, Restaurant) to explore together some of Jiddu Krishnamurti’s key questions about awareness, relationship, and freedom. There will be no teaching, no authority — only open dialogue and attentive listening. Everyone is welcome, whether you are familiar with Jiddu Krishnamurti or simply curious about life and self-understanding. We’ll start with an open conversation around a theme such as “Listening without judgment” or “Can thought bring clarity?” Please bring openness, curiosity, and a readiness to listen — no books or notes needed. The spirit is not to discuss “what should be,” but to observe together “what is.”
Ausstellungsbesuch: Die Donauinsel im Wien Museum
Ausstellungsbesuch: Die Donauinsel im Wien Museum
For English scroll down. ***English:*** The Danube Island – built between 1972 and 1988 along with the New Danube to protect Vienna from devastating floods – has become an integral part of the city’s identity. Back in 1969, when the project was launched, no one imagined that more than 200,000 people would spend beautiful summer days on this stretch of land, 13 miles long and up to 800 feet wide. What began as a purely technical and highly controversial flood-control project gradually transformed over more than 30 years of planning and construction into a diverse natural and recreational space on the water. The Wien Museum exhibition explores both the history and present of this extraordinary landscape, which today is one of Vienna’s most important open spaces. The island is used by residents of all ages and backgrounds for countless activities. Among many other objects, a 36-foot-long historic model of the Danube Island, a food cart, as well as recent photographic and film works by artists Klaus Pichler, Elodie Grethen, and Dariusz Kowalski are on display. We meet at 3. p.m. at the entrance of the Wien Museum, Karlsplatz 8, 1040 Wien. On the first Sunday of every month, admission to the Wien Museum’s special exhibitions is free. After visiting the Exhibition we will have a drink together in a café nearby.

**The idea for this group is to build a community where men can gather together and build connections & learn and grow from each other.** How we start each meeting is by each of us checking in with our "roses and thorns" aka what are the good things and the bad things going on in your life recently? Free In-person Meeting: Unwanted Emotions & Loneliness, How to Get Over Them
Free In-person Meeting: Unwanted Emotions & Loneliness, How to Get Over Them
This is an in-person meeting. Did you know that unwanted emotions like loneliness, sadness, hopelessness, anger, fear, anxiety, or feelings of irritation don’t just fall on you for no reason. They are not random occurrences that simply happen to people's minds. They are definitely not chemical imbalance in your brain due to some nebulous chemical reactions by chance. Your negative emotions are the symptoms of the painful experiences that you have which are not healed, and which are still affecting you. The effects of these painful experiences are exacerbated by the pressures or difficulties of the other problems in your life. For instance, let's say you are already carrying a huge load on your back, then you cannot take on much more, but, let's say something else happens to you, such as the difficulties from the Pandemic, then the resultant combined weight on you can take you over the edge, kind of like the straw that break the camel's back. When this happens, people's attention usually goes to the straw that was added, but actually the majority of the weight had come from the huge load that were already there, holding a person down and causing a person issues. So how do you remove the huge load that was already there? How do you lighten them up? Is it possible to get rid of them? That is what this meeting will be all about. Come to our Meetup, where we can introduce you to some of the knowledge, tools and techniques of the breakthroughs in the field of the mind that we can apply to this ever important area of life. Be sure to click on the red "Attend" button below to come to this local event. We look forward to seeing you there. COUNT has been volunteering there since May 2014. Housewarmers work with RMH guests to provide a home-like environment - greet, assist with family needs, answer phones, give tours, assist with checkin/checkout, prepare guest rooms after checkout, clean facility, laundry, restock supplies and staff the front desk. RMH Housewarmers volunteer at least one four-hour shift a month. All Housewarmers must complete an application and agree to a background check before they can be full fledged volunteers.
