Everything is new in 2026… and we’re starting the new year with a bang: from now on, we have a **new location**!
Our friends at b.telligent have kindly connected us with **Berlin Bytes**, who will be welcoming us from now on at their office in the Backfabrik in Prenzlauer Berg.
And of course, the first event at the new location calls for an outstanding speaker—and we’ve found one in Janek Fellien. His topic is the Drasi project.
Project Drasi is a very new open-source project from Microsoft that revisits the idea of Complex Event Processing. At its core, it is about detecting data changes in software systems and being able to react to them accordingly. In newly developed systems, this would typically be implemented using event sourcing or technical solutions built “from scratch.” But what about existing systems? How can changes be captured there—and, more importantly, why would you want to react to them?
In this talk, I want to demonstrate how Drasi can be used to embed or transform a monolithic legacy system into a microservices system.

German Sprachcafé at Denizen! From A1 to B1 *Read Description
**Hi everyone!**
We’ll now be meeting twice a week at Denizen House (Köpenicker Str. 40, 10179 Berlin), on **Mondays and Wednesdays**!
* **Mondays:** levels A1 to B1
* **Wednesdays:** levels B1 to C1
We work with dedicated materials tailored to each level, so everyone will have a place to practice and improve.
**Event schedule**
* **18:00 – 18:30** Arrival and registration
* **18:30 – 19:50** Sprachcafé
* **19:50 – 20:00** End and clean up
Please be aware that the moderated event starts at **18:30**. Before this time, we are busy setting up the space.
Registrations usually take place around **18:15 / 18:20**.
Participants are kindly asked **not to arrive too far in advance** at the house.
If someone arrives much earlier, Denizen may ask them to pay either for a drink (consumption) or for a **day pass**, as the space is a co-working environment during the day. **Please remember, our event is only happening from 18:00 to 20:00**
**How the Sprachcafé works**
We use different materials to help participants gain confidence in German. Together with whiteboards and our volunteers, the Sprachcafé is based on **interactive conversations** in small groups.
**Participation fee**
The Sprachcafé has a **participation fee of 5 €**, which helps cover organizational costs and **includes one soft drink for free**.
Tickets can be purchased directly on the day of the event, card and cash payments are accepted.
As the Sprachcafé has become very popular, we now need to **limit the number of participants**. Please understand this measure; it ensures that everyone has a comfortable space to practice.
We kindly ask you to be **rücksichtsvoll** and only RSVP “Yes” if you are certain you can attend.
If your plans change at the last minute, please update your RSVP so someone on the waiting list can take your spot.
Getting your ticket early can help secure your place.

**Sebastian Möring: Precarious Pixels. Artistic Computer Game Photographs as Media of Care**
Many artistic computer game photographs address the presence and absence of care. I would like to show in this talk that they themselves become describable as media of care. The notion of care offers a possibility to view the multitude of artistic in-game photographic works through the lens of one theme and thereby bring them into a coherent context.

Since restarting the event in 2023 we have asked attendees to wear a face mask. This requirement feels incredibly anachronistic these days so at the end of 2025 we decided to drop the requirement. That being said, **we ask everyone showing any signs of illness to be considerate and refrain from attending the event**. FFP2 masks will continue to be available at the door and we support anyone who feels like wearing one to protect themselves and others

In diesem kompakten Präsenzkurs lernst du das 10-Finger-Schreiben auf moderne, spielerische Weise – ganz ohne langweiliges Pauken. Statt sturem Wiederholen erwarten dich Geschichten, Farben, Bilder und Musik, die dir helfen, die Tastatur ganz intuitiv zu verinnerlichen.

**Ablauf:**
Beim **ersten Termin** am **28\. Februar** lernst du die Tasten für die **linke Hand**, beim **zweiten Termin** am **7\. März** lernst du die Tasten der **rechten Hand** kennen.
Du erhältst ein **Kursheft für 25€**, mit dem wir gemeinsam arbeiten – und das dir hilft, in der Zeit bis zum zweiten Termin zu Hause weiter zu üben.
Ziel ist es, das Gelernte zu festigen und erste Sicherheit beim Tippen zu entwickeln.

Hello! I’m organising a coworking + socialising session for all of us who are working on projects (e.g. our own creations, freelance or remote work) but don't feel like sitting alone at home.
To ensure that we have time for both socialising AND working, we will be using the so-called “Pomodoro” technique:
**50 mins deep work** (silent), followed by **10 mins break** to socialise. And then repeat!
You are welcome to join whatever your personal background is, and whatever project you are working on.
I (the host) speak English and German, so either language is fine.

The location is **Espresso House near Checkpoint Charlie** (they have multiple outlets - so be sure to go to the correct one!)
Wifi + power plugs are available - but best to bring a fully charged laptop, just in case
You **do not** have to pay anything. But since we are using the café space, it is common courtesy to buy at least one drink (coffee costs roughly **4 Euros**).
