Tuesday Boardgames in the Mitte (Formely in the Castle)
Tuesday Boardgames in the Mitte (Formely in the Castle)
Hello peeps, welcome to the private meetup for board games in Berlin. Look forward to a relaxed boardgames event in a community centre. We will be playing inside the community centre. If you are looking for a group or games, just join us in the front. The entrance fee is 3 euros for the rent of the community centre rooms and cleanup of the rooms. We look to play in the Nachbarschaftszentrum „Bürger für Bürger“ near Bernauer Strasse U-Bahnhof. We usually play all types of games for example social deduction, casual, euro games, and strategy games. If you are new, is no worries, I will help you connect to a group. We start games every 15 mins so do not worry if you are late. We mostly play in the English language as it is the language most people are comfortable with. We usually bring games with us but you are welcome to bring your own. Due to corona rules in Berlin (for more info: https://www.berlin.de/corona/en/measures/), please make sure to follow the rules on the page. The meetup is strictly for a maximum of persons as stated in the meetup so please register on the meetup event before. Please follow the rules and hygiene concept from the community centre. Please do not bring outside drinks. Please smoke or gather in the night not outside the community centre as we look to be accomodating to the neighbours. If you have any questions, please let me know.

#30 AI Series: Microsoft Security Response Center - A. Salem
#30 AI Series: Microsoft Security Response Center - A. Salem
**Join the FINALE of the free BLISS AI Speaker Series Winter 2025/26!** We are excited to feature **Ahmed Salem**, who is currently a Researcher at **Microsoft Security Response Center (MSRC)** and will discuss **"The Price of Intelligence: Three Risks Inherent in LLMs**", lasting approximately 45 minutes. After the talk, seize the opportunity to connect with fellow AI enthusiasts to share ideas and questions while enjoying free drinks and pizza. **Door close by 7.15pm, so please come early! Also, "attend"ing (RSVP) here on Meetup is strictly necessary to be guaranteed entry.** Please note that Meetup has recently been quite keen on promoting its Plus program. However, you are not obligated to purchase it, as both our events and the platform remain free. **Who is this event for?** This event is open to everyone interested in state-of-the-art AI research. We especially design it for students, PhD candidates, academic researchers, and industry professionals with a research focus in machine learning. **Abstract**: As LLMs move from passive assistants to action taking agents, the price of intelligence is increasingly paid in control failures: what the model treats as instruction, how behavior shifts across time and context, and how fragile safety properties can become under downstream adaptation. In this talk, we begin with indirect prompt injection as an end‑to‑end problem, where untrusted content can steer downstream actions in realistic pipelines. We then discuss a defense direction that secures agent planning through deterministic policy enforcement and principled control over what information is exposed during planning. Finally, we turn to a practical question that underlies all of these results: how do we know when an agent/LLM is actually safe, rather than merely scoring well on an evaluation? We highlight two factors that can systematically distort safety measurement in agent settings. First, reasoning models can change compliance when they infer they are being evaluated (“test awareness”), which can bias apparent robustness and complicate safety audits. Second, we discuss implicit memory as a hidden channel that challenges the “stateless” assumption and enables temporal behaviors that standard evaluation setups may fail to surface. **Bio**: [Ahmed](https://ahmedsalem2.github.io/) is a Researcher at the Microsoft Security Response Center (MSRC), focusing on machine learning privacy, biomedical data privacy, and applied cryptography. He was previously a Postdoctoral Researcher at Microsoft Research Cambridge (2022–2024). He received his PhD in Computer Science from CISPA Helmholtz Center for Information Security, Saarland University, under the supervision of Michael Backes and Yang Zhang, graduating *summa cum laude*. Before that, he earned his MSc in Computer Science from Saarland University with high honors and his BSc in Digital Media Engineering from the German University in Cairo. His work has appeared at ICML, USENIX Security, CCS, NDSS, and Oakland. We are [BLISS](https://bliss.berlin/) e.V., the **AI** **organization** in Berlin that **connects like-minded individuals** who share great interest and passion for the field of machine learning. This winter 2025/26, we will, again, host an exciting speaker series on site in Berlin, featuring excellent researchers from Tübingen AI Center, DeepMind, Microsoft, King's College London, cohere, and ETH Zürich. ⚔ Spiritual Heroism and the hero's journey ⚔
⚔ Spiritual Heroism and the hero's journey ⚔
⚔ Spiritual Heroism and the hero's journey ⚔ “*[T]he student-teacher relationship is similar to that in the martialarts. You could get hurt severely if you are too tense. [...]You could read a book about it, but it doesn’t mean very much unless you have that very immediate and direct experience —which is frightening [...] We have tolearn fearlessness that is without hesitation but is not based on blind faith.*” (Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche) Turning to the inside, investigating who one truly is, facing challenges and obstacles on the search for truth, is heroic. Whether the story of the great hero Arjuna in the Bhagavad Gita, Atalante in Greek mythology or David in Christianity - our ancient stories are full of heroines and heros. Heroism seems to be an attribute of the mystic archetypes (Gods) considering the legends of Kali's victory over the demons, Siva Nilakantha's rescue of the Universe from poison, or Ragnarök in nordic and Titanomachy in Greek mythology. Books like "*The way of the superior man*" or simply biographies of great spiritual beings like the Tibetan Princess, Yeshe Tsogyel, Co-founder of Tibetan Buddhism suggest that there is something that Heroism can contribute to the spiritual Quest. And then there are things like the Bodhisattva Vow - spiritual actions that seem heroic in nature. “‘*Would you like to leave your subjects and go off to practice the Dharma?Would you l ike to leave the palace and go to practice the Dharma? [...]Do not try to do what you are not capable of doing: Practicing the Dharma.Do what you know how to do: Be a housewife.*’ Nangsa responded: ‘*Helpful mother, Nyangtsa Seldron, listen to me [...], Nangsa Obum! The sun shines in the four corners of the universe:When the sun stops shining I will stop desiring to practice the Dharma and stay at home.If the sun keeps going, I will go also to the Dharma.*’” (Nangsa Obum - quote taken from the book "Women of wisdom" by Lama Tsultrim Allione) **Let's share for an afternoon about the hero's journey in spirituality!** 💫 **What this event offers for you:** * Guided Meditations for arriving, calming the mind and tuning into your intuition * Meeting people interested in spirituality (all levels) * Safe Space for sharing - non-hierarchical and non-judgemental * Opportunity to ask just about any question **👀 You may watch one or few of the following Videos for inspiration:** * Sadhguru on "Hero or Zero" : [https://youtu.be/-9iebN1Rp3g?si=4ohMVIXvuTvMa1Gu](https://youtu.be/-9iebN1Rp3g?si=4ohMVIXvuTvMa1Gu) * Lama Tsultrim Allione on "Feeding your demons": [https://youtu.be/aEbJ_maF_fo?si=PWUWJsIME2nPqJNM](https://youtu.be/aEbJ_maF_fo?si=PWUWJsIME2nPqJNM) * Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo on "Using adverse circumstances": [https://youtu.be/-doY-wf0P2Y?si=1QoPWWHS66WTaUDd](https://youtu.be/-doY-wf0P2Y?si=1QoPWWHS66WTaUDd) * Tantra Teacher Uriel Yariv on overcoming obstacles: [https://youtu.be/tTql0O5XAP0?si=JFr5vzCcSTjUxdTF](https://youtu.be/tTql0O5XAP0?si=JFr5vzCcSTjUxdTF) * Alan Chapman on his journey including the "Abyss": [https://youtu.be/GQ99PULR5NY?si=MIJ0_Fi1H_QFkjOR](https://youtu.be/GQ99PULR5NY?si=MIJ0_Fi1H_QFkjOR) * Pema Chödron on "Being brave": [https://youtu.be/zVzV_RCMqNU?si=O5CpCX25XbISBP4e](https://youtu.be/zVzV_RCMqNU?si=O5CpCX25XbISBP4e) * Dzontsar Khyentse Rinpoche on the story of the horse thief: [https://youtu.be/wjpUQaFROFA?si=EbI_RcWLnvLAzbSD](https://youtu.be/wjpUQaFROFA?si=EbI_RcWLnvLAzbSD) * Tantra Teacher Blandine Wegener and Uriel Yariv on facing fears: [https://youtu.be/LTHAzHZm1Mc?si=bEN227_m56zF81rv](https://youtu.be/LTHAzHZm1Mc?si=bEN227_m56zF81rv) * Tantra Teacher Uriel Yariv on the path of the hero (Vira) for men: [https://youtu.be/eeawuvFXgbg?si=jTUGTC3nXPDeCDb8](https://youtu.be/eeawuvFXgbg?si=jTUGTC3nXPDeCDb8) **🧘 About the Organizer** Martin is a certified Mindfulness Teacher, Systemic Coach, Yogi and Altruist by heart who teaches Meditation and Martial Arts in different formats. "*From a spiritual point of view it's not advantageousto be a rabbit. It's better to be a tiger, [...] Rabbits are very nice and cuddly but they don'thave much potential for breaking through. Tigers, on the otherhand, are very wild but that pure energy, if used skilfully, isexactly what's needed on the path. All the great saints werevery passionate people. It's just that they didn't dissipate theirpassions into negative channels. They used them as fuel to sendthem to Enlightenment.*" (Tenzin Palmo) "*The search for reality is the most dangerous of all undertakings for it will destroy the world inwhich you live. But if your motive is love of truth and life, you need not be afraid.*" (Nisargadatta Maharaj)

Speak Easy (Storytelling)
Speak Easy (Storytelling)
The topic for February is "Transitions" Speak Easy: true stories, told live. The idea is simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant- it's up to you. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast. Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human. And in a world of smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and more . . . it gives people a real, breathing, in-person way to connect. The night is geared for true stories of all kinds, taking the best tales told around kitchen tables, in darkened pubs, on the street corner, and at late-night parties and giving them an audience. Speak Easy is also a great outlet for performers, writers, and artists looking to share their favorite stories and perfect their skills. We strongly encourage tellers to please tell the story rather than read it so we keep within the spirit of good storytelling and stay engaged with the audience. All are welcome. Hang around after the show for a drink and build community!

Columbus: A Study in Psalms--Psalm 1 and 2
Columbus: A Study in Psalms--Psalm 1 and 2
Is doing good really its own reward? To look around the world and see wrongdoing, injustice, and seemingly-gotten-away-with crime, people have often wondered whether or not it is "worth it" to do the right thing. These are not new questions--going back at least 3,000 years, human beings have wrestled with such questions, and the Psalmist, ca. 1,000 BC, sought such answers as well. He came to the conclusion that there was, indeed, an answer, and one that brought hope: God sees, God knows, and God will not allow evil to triumph, nor will He allow the wicked to escape justice. In addition to God's justice, He also promises mercy and blessing to those who humble themselves and follow Him. Psalm 1 and 2 address the underlying concerns of both of these questions--will wrong one day be righted, and is it worth it to do right, in spite of so much evil--with a resounding, "Yes, indeed!" Doing rightly is always good and *will* be blessed. Doing wrongly is always wrong, and those who think they have "gotten away with it" will one day understand the truth: God will not be mocked, and justice *will* prevail. Come join us, **6:30 pm, Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at True Food Kitchen, Easton Town Center**, and be encouraged by ancient truth that is still vitally essential today!
