**DETAILS** The session is Wednesday 7.00PM till 9.55PM. All 4 courts will be available for games. Players are requested to finish the games by 9.50PM and leave the premises by 9.55PM. All levels are welcome. We pride our sessions that everyone plays with everyone to keep it a friendly and fun session. Hi All, We are very excited to invite you to our **2026 Summer Tournament**! It'll be held on a Wednesday night in place of our usual session. It will be a **MIXED doubles tournament**, round robin style consisting of 16 teams. Playing Format and Scoring will be adjusted to fit into 3hrs. For those that have participated previously, you know how fast the day will go! So make sure you're prepared and on time! It may be even faster! (Sorry!). The tournament will use our Yonex Mavis 600 Yellow Nylon Shuttles. **Teams** * Our summer tournament is a choose your own partner event! * It is for Mixed Doubles only! **Rules & Registration** * For men, you must have played a minimum of 4 sessions with the club between our Winter Tournament (03/12/25) to Summer Tournament (01/07/26) to qualify (exemption applies only for defending champions or players that previously placed). The cost of the tournament is £16 per player that must be paid within 2 weeks of registration. * For women, you must have played a minimum of 1 session with the club between our Winter Tournament (03/12/25) to Summer Tournament (01/07/26) to qualify (exemption applies only for defending champions or players that previously placed). The cost of the tournament is £16 per player that must be paid within 2 weeks of registration. * Each team must consist of a male and female player. * Registration will be on first come first serve basis. **Please contact any of the organisers via meetup or in person at a session to register**. * If you are looking for a partner, please post a comment on the session. Organisers can add you to a waitlist to see if someone wants to partner with you. * The top 8 teams after the round robin will go into a Knock out round. The top 8 teams will be decided by the total points won. If there is a tie, we will look at total points lost. The draw will be: 1 vs 8, 4 vs 5, 3 vs 6, 2 vs 7 and the winners of each round will flow up. We can try our best to schedule your games off until you arrive, however, this may mean you will play 3+ games in a row to catch up. **Schedule of the Day** * Competition will run from 7pm to 10pm. Please make sure you arrive by 6:45pm. Do NOT enter the hall until an Organiser says so as there may be another session in there. * In the first round only, each team will be given time to warm up before you are required to start your match. * At the end of the competition, we will present the winners with the prizes. * Order of Games (will vary as the day progresses as per previous tournaments). **Prizes** * Trophies and free stringing for the top 3 pairs, * Free Session Credits for the top 3 pairs (3 for first, 2 for second and 1 for third to ANY session - not redeemable for cash credit) and 1 free session to the best dressed pair. * Medals for all participants and helpers. * Best dressed theme this year is **Duo's**. Are you a beginner at badminton and want to learn the basics so you can improve quickly and enjoy your games even more? Or perhaps you’ve been playing for a while, but are not sure if you have the right techniques, and want to take your games to the next level with more strategic play? Then join our Badminton Coaching session, improve your games and have more fun playing! **When** Thursdays, 7- 9 pm 02 July – 20 August weekly for 8 weeks **What you will learn** This course is designed to provide a good understanding of the basics of the game, to provide a solid foundation on which to build and improve skills and techniques. The course will cover: * Basics: Equipment, shoes, court layout, scoring * Grips, Opening Positions * Movement at net * Backhand low serve * Return of serve: net & clearance * Backhand flick/high serve * Overhead clearance shot * Forehand low serve * Forehand flick serve * Doubles movement & positioning **Details** * Each session will entail 60 mins of coaching and 60 mins of practice/play time. * The 1st 60 minutes will be coaching in a dedicated court. * The remaining 60 minutes will be play time so you can practice what you’ve learnt. You will play with the rest of the club as in our normal session. * Signing up for this event will sign you up for the full 8-session course. **Meet your coach** Islam is one of the organisers of the club and a qualified Level 2 Badminton coach. He started playing badminton in school. But when he started playing with friends at university, he found that they were all much better than him. He decided to take some lessons, learned the basics and it improved his games dramatically. He enjoyed the improvement so much that he decided he wanted to help others do the same. Islam has been coaching for over 14 years, specialising in coaching beginners in doubles/mixed doubles.

**🏸 APBC – Wednesday Social Session (Non-Profit) - First time RSVPs should confirm by paying at least 24 hrs before the session, else will be removed** Join us every Wednesday from **8:00–10:00 pm** for **fun**, **Non-Profit**, and **social badminton**. We’re a mixed-ability group, ranging from beginners to intermediate+ players (depending on the week), so you should get good, competitive games regardless of your level. We play on **4 courts**, use feather shuttles, and limit attendance to ensure everyone gets a fair amount of court time. ⸻ **💷 Cost & Payment** **£12** per person for the 2-hour session (includes feather shuttles). **Reduced rates** for members - enquire at one of our in-person events if interested. This isn't a formal event—it's a relaxed summer gathering. Come early or stop by later. Stay for an hour or stay all evening. We'll have our own private meetup space where you can kick back, meet new people, play a few games, enjoy light refreshments, and simply enjoy the holiday together.
