Azure Virtual Networks for developers
Azure Virtual Networks for developers
For our June meet-up, we will be welcoming Rik Hepworth, who will be delivering a talk on Azure Virtual Networks for developers Cloud was supposed to save us, but those dastardly networks followed us there! So many projects in the cloud now demand that we keep our traffic within the corporate network. But what does that mean for our applications, and how much do we need to understand as developers? Can’t we just leave it to the networking team? Let’s run through the fundamentals: stuff like DNS and address spaces, that are easy to mess up if you’re not paying attention. Let’s examine what’s meant by ‘hub and spoke’ or ‘split horizon DNS’. This isn’t a session for network professionals who already build and operate corporate systems at scale; this is a session for the developers who need to make sure their applications are going to work, who may not have spent years configuring switches and managing infrastructure, and who just need to know enough to get the job done and avoid the potholes on the journey. **Food** We have a selection of food available including Vegan options but if you'd like to know more please drop one of our organisers a message before the event via the group message forum. (https://secure.meetup.com/messages/) If you would need assistance to leave the building in the event of an evacuation then please let us know via the group message forum. (https://secure.meetup.com/messages/) **Schedule** Doors open from 18:00 Pizza at 18:20 Intro and welcome 18:40 Speaker Starts 19:00 Close \~21:00 (Don't feel bad if you have to leave early for a train/bus/lift home - no one will be offended) **Live Steam Link** https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQq3cpjMXJc (Please like, subscribe, and share to show your support) **Travel** Train - James Street station is a 2-minute walk from the Lab. Liverpool Lime Street is approx 15-20 minutes walking distance. Driving - Underground parking available. Bicycle - Cycle rack available.
The latest & greatest C++ features talk : Jason Turner
The latest & greatest C++ features talk : Jason Turner
Hello Everyone, **Please Note: The meeting has changed its start time from 19:00 to 20:00 due to an overbooking at the venue. The talk will go on until 22:00. If anyone has a suggestion for a bar nearby, then maybe people can meet there beforehand.** For this meetup, we are happy to welcome Jason Turner, who will be visiting Ireland at that time. Very generously, Jason will take this opportunity to talk to us about a C++ topic of his choosing on the day. Jason needs no introduction. If you are into C++, chances are you have encountered his work as the host of the Weekly C++ video series and the CppCast, his "C++ Best Practices" repository, or any of his other projects and contributions to the community. All of which can be found on his website https://articles.emptycrate.com/about.html The great folks at Anseo are graciously letting us use their upstairs room again. You are all very welcome ! See you then.

Figure Painting in Oils // A 3 Day Workshop with Artist Nicholas Robinson
Figure Painting in Oils // A 3 Day Workshop with Artist Nicholas Robinson
## Figure Painting in Oils // A 3 Day Workshop with Artist Nicholas Robinson // Friday July 3 - Sunday July 5 **BOOK HERE - https://www.tickettailor.com/events/skillsets/2179557** Painting the figure has always been a staple exercise in learning the craft of oil painting, and this 3 day workshop covers the core skills required. This class is ideal for those looking to start their exploration into the art of Figure Painting, or for the more experienced artist who wants to improve their fundamentals. Nick Robinson (Florence Academy prize winner 2012 & 2013, Zurich Portrait Prize Finalist 2019 & 2021) will instruct in the visual method: translating what we observe from life into oil painting on the canvas. We will explore the materials involved, some theory and preparation for the model. The rest of the session will be comprised of working from the nude in one single-pose painting over the 3 days. By the completion of the course participants will have a clear understanding of the techniques and steps involved in painting the figure, as well as increased levels of observational skill. No prior experience is necessary, only a strong interest in painting from life. **Course Fee: €350** \* Some materials will be provided, though a small materials list will be sent to each participant. ***Your Tutor:*** Nicholas is a Florence Academy of Art prize winner and graduate. Nicholas finished his post-graduate studies at Ireland’s National College of Art & Design (NCAD) in 2009, having previously graduated from the Crawford College of Art & Design, Cork. He was introduced to the American ateliers in Florence, in which students study exclusively from life, by the Irish painter Gearoid Hayes. Subsequently Nicholas quit his teaching career and attended the Florence Academy of Art, Sweden under the tutelage of the Swedish painter Joakim Ericsson. Nicholas received a pair of drawing awards during his time at the school in Sweden and returned to Ireland in 2013. He is now exhibiting nationally, and works and teaches out of in his studio in Wicklow.

Dublin's Newest Language Exchange
Dublin's Newest Language Exchange
Most language exchanges are built around **movement**. —fast rotations, brief chats, surface-level conversation. New table. New person. Start again. It feels productive. It isn’t. Real conversations don’t happen in 10 minutes. They start there. Then they get interesting. At Flip Lingoes, **you stay.** Same table. Same group. Enough time for real conversation and real connection, beyond the surface level. Every 5 minutes, you switch roles: **fluent speaker ↔ learner**, not people. Before you arrive, **[create a profile here](https://www.fliplingoes.com/language-exchange-dublin/)**[,](https://www.fliplingoes.com/language-exchange-dublin/) tell us what language you're learning. This helps our **automated matching algorithm** put you in the right small group. No awkward searching. No guesswork. Simply scan the QR code on arrival and it automatically matches you with fluent speakers of your target language. We host events at Zanzibar Locke: calm, well-designed, easy to hear, easy to focus. *** **Event Flow** 6:45–7:15 → Seamless check-in (QR code, get matched, sit down) 7:15–8:30 → Language Exchange (structured, focused) 8:30 → Optional social + snacks included **Crispy chicken wings. Cheesy loaded nachos.** Straight from Zanzibar Locke’s kitchen. Perfect for chatting, relaxing, and refueling after a great language session. **Entry:** €8 (tasty snacks included) **Bundles:** 4 events €24 \| 10 events €50\, purchase [here](https://www.fliplingoes.com/language-exchange-dublin/?pricing_filter=in_person#bundles-section) in advance for express check in. Save time and money. It is expected that you support the venue and **purchase a drink upon arriva**l **Invite a friend for free:** It's simple. Create a profile [here](https://www.fliplingoes.com/language-exchange-dublin/), log in, and click “**Invite Friend** to sign up.” It generates a link and you send that to them. Easy and your friend will thank you later ;) If they register for the event before you, you both get free entry.🙌 **Why Flip Lingoes works:** * Go deeper: longer conversations at the same table * Speak with the right people via automated matching * Smooth, calm, focused environment * Fun social finish If you’re tired of restarting conversations and want to **actually speak beyond the greeting and small talk**, this is your place. [Flip Lingoes](https://www.fliplingoes.com) is a new and innovative language exchange event, with a clear vision: **To upgrade language exchange events online and in cities around the world.** Currently in Dublin, Zurich and Online. **Can you guess our next city?** **Flip into our world:** **[On Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/fliplingoes/)** **[Sign up to FlipLingoes.Com](https://www.fliplingoes.com/language-exchange-dublin/)** ***
