1. Sign up to the waitlist. Everyone is on the waitlist until the event is finalised.
2. Wait for us to change your RSVP to "Going".
3. Wait for the payment link to appear in the comments below. We usually post it 1-3 days before the session.
4. When your RSVP status has changed to "Going", you can pay for the ticket.
**⚠️Any tickets you purchased while on the waitlist are not valid. Invalid tickets are ineligible for refunds.**

1. Meetup profile with first and last names.
2. Meetup profile with a clear, recognizable photo with 50-70% of the area covered by face. e.g., LinkedIn/passport photo.
3. RMIT Student Priority—message in group chat.
4. Players with a DUPR rating of 3.0+ who have been and will be playing round-robin with us.
5. Regular players who attend multiple times each week and focus on improving their skills will receive priority.

* The nearest public toilet (Melbourne Central) and water fountain (IGA/RMIT Tram Stop) are 3-5 minutes from the court.

* Complete and sign the player waiver before starting any activity (if not already done).
* New players should introduce themselves to the host.
* **New players who want to learn the rules** come when the event starts and politely ask the hosts to join an introductory quick course.
* Hosts will check tickets on the day. Please have tickets ready
* Social play is for everyone—please assist the host with setting up and closing the session. 👩👩👧👦

* We do not use Meetup messages for communication.
* Payments are processed via the provided link (no cash, Pay ID, or bank transfers).
* Initially, everyone is on the **waitlist** until the event is finalised.
* Pay only when you are marked as **going** on Meetup; otherwise, payment is invalid.
* The payment gateway and **paid status** on Meetup are not connected. Everyone shows unpaid.
* RSVP does not confirm your spot until payment is made.
* If you can’t attend, please update your RSVP as ‘**Not Going**’ to free up a spot for someone else.
* Failure to update your RSVP results in a "**No Show**," which affects your future participation priority.

Wilderness Seekers Victoria runs on community spirit and carpooling is a big part of that. Every seat offered means another hiker can join the adventure. Less cars, easier logistics, more fun together.
Carpooling is a great way to start the day by meet new people, share a few laughs, and arrive at the trail together. Drivers, your contribution makes a huge difference, and passengers, your gratitude keeps it all running smoothly. It’s simple, social, and one of the best parts of the Wilderness Seekers Victoria experience. 🚗🌿

👉 **Carpool Driver information**
If you’ve got spare seats and don’t mind some company, offering a lift is one of the best ways to kick off the day 🚙💨. It makes the trip more fun, helps out fellow hikers who don’t have a car, and is an easy way to make a few friends before we even hit the trail. Plus, fewer cars means less parking stress and a smoother start for everyone.
For passengers, it’s the easiest way to get to the trail, meet new people and enjoy the ride together instead of travelling alone. In our Wilderness Seekers Victoria community, many people are more than happy to help out those without cars it’s part of what makes these days feel so welcoming and connected.
✨ Best practice: Passengers should try to secure transportation before purchasing a ticket to avoid any last-minute stress.
**Important Carpooling Note**
Drivers and passengers should stick with the arrangements they make. We **do not recommend swapping drivers or cars**after you’ve agreed on a ride. If you do decide to change, please make sure **all parties are clearly informed and agree** to avoid confusion.
If a driver forgets, gets mixed up, or doesn’t pick you up, Wilderness Seekers Victoria (and your driver) are **not liable** for any inconvenience caused. For this reason, it is best to keep things simple with the driver you first arranged with.
In the transport chat, drivers will share their preferred pick-up locations often major CBD train stations like Parliament, Richmond, South Yarra, Southern Cross, or North Melbourne.

After our hike, we love keeping the good vibes rolling with a meal together. We’ll suggest a café or restaurant that’s usually on the way back toward the city so it’s easy for everyone and avoids extra driving.
It’s always a highlight of the day swapping stories from the trail, sharing laughs, and getting to know your fellow hikers even better over some good food.
Joining is optional, but most people stick around because it’s such a fun way to finish the adventure. Everyone just covers their own meal, and we’ll confirm the spot in the Instagram group chat on the day.

**Refund Policy:**
Tickets are non-refundable unless the hike is cancelled or rescheduled.
Tickets cannot be transferred to other hike unless agreed with the organisers.

**🌧 Rain Policy**
If the forecast shows over 15 mm in 6 hours or 20+ mm during the day, we may postpone or adjust the hike to keep things safe and enjoyable. Slippery trails, flooding, and poor visibility are no fun or safe.
We’ll also reschedule for thunderstorms or if trails are still soaked from heavy rain the days before.
Light rain (under 5 mm/hour) is usually fine. We’ll check each hike case-by-case. Safety first 🌿
If it changes and gets heavier, we’ll reschedule for the following Saturday, 01 Match 2026 instead.

We’re so excited to announce our first photography exhibition in over 8 years! 🎉 It’ll showcase amazing images taken during our 2024 & 2025 group events.
*The main aim of this exhibition is for our members to showcase images taken at our events. Following some enquiries from a few members, and given you are highly skilled photographers, I am adding an **Open Section** for those who already have at least one image of shots taken at our events. See below for details on the Open Section.*

We need at least 40 prints to make it happen!
· Applications open: 15 Nov 2025
· Applications close: **15 January 2026**
· Entry fees: A4 $10 \| A3 $15
· Members only — images must be from MW&S events (2024–2025)
· ***Please print your images and accompanying information for each image. We will definitely go ahead with this event.***
· Prints must not be framed.
· You may print your images at home, Officeworks, or via a professional printer (borders allowed).
· Hang your own prints on 31 January 2026 (1pm to 3pm). **Just bring your prints to the venue and we will have magnets for you to put them up. No need to use blu tack anymore.**
· Label each image with photographer’s name, title, and a brief description (100mm x 200mm).
**Open Section**
* To be eligible to enter in the Open Section, you must have at least one image taken at our MWS events in 2024-2025.
* Images in the Open Section can be taken in your personal time and place outside the MWS events. They could be images that are your personal favourites.
* "How to participate" applies to this section.

Swanston Walk then Yarra Trail to Herring Island.
There is a free punt to the Island.
We will cross to the Island have lunch in the shade and visit the sculpture gallery.
Then continue on the Yarra Trail then Merri Creek trail back to Rushall Station.

It's your responsibility to check the temperature and distance for the day and carry an appropriate amount of water. When riding outside suburbia remember that carrying too much water is better than not enough as the distances between water availability may vary greatly from the planned route due to road closures or other unforeseen circumstances.
Check Meetup for any changes the day before the ride, as the ride may be cancelled in the event of extreme weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
If you cannot make it to the ride please change your RSVP to 'NO' at least one day before the ride day.

**People Analytics 101: Making Sense of Compensation Data**
Compensation data is one of the most widely used and widely misunderstood forms of people analytics.
The session will cover where compensation data comes from, including market pricing data, internal payroll data, and benchmarking sources, and how companies think about structuring and analyzing that information. We will explore how compensation data is leveraged to set salary ranges, manage internal equity, support hiring and retention, and align pay with business strategy. A portion of the session will address common data challenges and limitations, such as market noise, inconsistent job matching, and incomplete datasets, while keeping the primary focus on practical use rather than technical depth.
The session will also look ahead at where the space is going, including the growing impact of pay transparency laws, expanding pay equity requirements, and emerging regulations in the US and Europe that require organizations to report on gender and pay gaps. The goal is to give attendees a clear mental model for how compensation analytics works today and why getting it right is becoming increasingly critical.

Humanist Community Celebrating Darwin Day
Dale Gnidovec, Curator of the Orton Hall Museum of Geology at The Ohio State University, will be presenting a program he has wanted to share with us for a long time: Plate Tectonics. His description of his program:
Continents on the move - Nothing in Earth history makes sense without moving continents - it tells us why mountains, volcanoes, minerals, and fossils are where they are. This talk examines the evidence for continental drift, why it was disbelieved, and explains how the more-encompassing theory of plate tectonics was developed and eventually proven. Dale is an energetic, incredibly knowledgeable, and very entertaining speaker and this will be another wonderful program by Dale. Hope to see you there!
