## What we’re about
Buongiorno a tutti. Cerco persone serie e disposte solamente a divertirsi, senza puntare mazzette grazie mille.

## 🎤 The Talks
## 1️⃣An Open Source and Sovereign Architecture for Data, ML and AI
**Speaker:** Riccardo Lorenzon (Head of Data @ iliad Italia)
Iliad Group invests billions in sovereign AI ecosystems, open-source tech, and low-carbon data centers to reduce reliance on non-European providers and bolster Europe's technological autonomy. True to Iliad Group's 'make-over-buy' culture of full control, iliad Italia is building a data architecture in a hybrid on-prem and Scaleway (Iliad Group cloud) setup, combining open-source tech and managed services.
This powers data management, self-service analytics, and ML/AI use cases for our 12m+ user base and 1000+ employees. During this speech, we will guide you through the tech journeys we have built and are building.
**About the Speaker:**
Riccardo Lorenzon serves as Head of Data at iliad Italia, where he works on evolving the data function into a modern setup covering the full data value chain from sources to business decisions. He previously led data teams at Vedrai, an AI startup, and Whirlpool EMEA, handling projects in analytics, machine learning, and cloud platforms across areas like consumer service, supply chain, and sales. With a Master’s in Mathematical Engineering from Politecnico di Milano and studies at ETH Zürich, he combines a hands-on approach to delivery with a strong focus on strategic value for the business.

## 2️⃣ Building the Klarna Foundation Model: A Unified Transformer for Customer Behavior Modeling at Scale
**Speaker:** Valeria Verzi (Principal Data Scientist @ Klarna), Sudhakar Periyasamy, Goran Dizdarevic
In this session, we introduce Klarna’s Foundation Model (KFM): a lightweight Transformer trained on more than 130 million customer events to learn a unified representation of customer behavior. Rather than building separate, task-specific models, KFM operates as a common sequence-modeling backbone that encodes behavioral patterns across different touchpoints of a customer’s interaction history with Klarna.
We will walk through the technical design of the system, including event tokenization, sequence construction, and Transformer architecture, as well as how the learned embeddings are exposed as a shared layer for multiple downstream use cases.
Attendees will gain a concrete understanding of how foundation models can be applied to behavioral sequence data in fintech, and how a single model can serve as a reusable, extensible representation layer across heterogeneous modeling tasks.
**About the Speaker:**
Valeria Verzi is a Principal AI Scientist at Klarna, where she leads the development of next-generation models, from foundation models to advanced deep learning or agentic systems. She has nearly a decade of experience applying machine learning to high-stakes decisioning across fintech and insurance. Before her current role, Valeria served as Klarna’s Head of Data Science for Fraud Prevention. Prior to Klarna, she held senior data science roles at Generali and NTT Data. Valeria holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science Engineering from Politecnico di Milano.

**Agenda**
* 18:30 – 18:45 **Benvenuto e Networking**
* 18:45 – 19: 40 **Lakehouse Open Source in produzione: architettura, governance e developer experience in un caso reale**
* 19:40 – 20:00 **Community Slot** (Proponi il tuo talk)
* 20:00 – 20:30 **Q&A e Saluti**

**Agenda**
09:00 – 09:30 Accoglienza, introduzione informale e setup progetti
09:30 – 12:45 Sessioni Hands-On
12:45 – 14:15 Pausa pranzo
14:15 – 17:30 Sessioni Hands-On
17:30 - 18:00 Show & Tell
**Attività extra**
**Colazione @ Napoli Bakery**
I miei consigli:
* Coda d'aragosta (crema chantilly)
* Zeppola di San Giuseppe (crema pasticcera)
* Cornetto ischitano (ripieno a piacere)
**Come arrivare a Seregno**
Parcheggi consigliati:
* [https://maps.app.goo.gl/ppiKJ4pvR2LJkoGH8](https://maps.app.goo.gl/ppiKJ4pvR2LJkoGH8) (gratuito, all'aperto)
* [https://maps.app.goo.gl/zFaSis5cU7PEMxgC6](https://maps.app.goo.gl/zFaSis5cU7PEMxgC6) (a pagamento, al coperto)
***Treni***
Se venite da Milano:
* RegioExpress da Milano Centrale (consigliato, ogni ora al minuto :43, durata 25 min)
* S11 da Porta Garibaldi (ogni ora ai minuti :08 e :38, durata 35 min)
* S9 da Lambrate (ogni ora ai minuti :26 e :56, durata 35 min)

🌟(7:00 PM) MILAN: The power of color in personal branding
**(7:00 PM)**
🔹**Please fill in your details to confirm your attendance.**
https://forms.gle/GmCTgY1SDqeHS6cG9
**Talk: The power of color in personal branding**
How to build a memorable color identity
Color is not an aesthetic choice. It's a strategic lever.
Too often, a brand or personal brand is built following simplistic, outdated rules: "blue conveys trust," "red means energy," "green feels natural." The truth? It doesn't work that way.
In this talk, we'll move beyond color psychology clichés to explore a deeper, more scientific and truly personal approach. According to neuroscience, color perception isn't universal: it's tied to each person's experiences, memories and emotions. This is exactly where the difference lies between a brand that follows conventions and a brand that gets recognized, remembered and chosen.
What will you take away?
● A fresh perspective on the strategic role of color in your personal brand
● A method to build an authentic palette that reflects who you are and what you want to communicate
● The tools to set yourself apart from competitors relying on standard solutions
● Hands-on examples, perception tests and real rebranding case studies we'll analyze together
All without ever losing sight of what truly matters: readability, accessibility and functionality. Because a brand that works isn't just beautiful. It's effective.

**When “Eventually” Meant 11 ms:Designing Deterministic Cassandra Architectures in the Telecom Core - Thomas Elliott**
Thomas Elliott has had a 25-year career in delivering distributed software systems whose work spans early Cassandra OSS deployments in mobile core networks and modern deterministic data foundations for AI. As Head of AI and ML Systems at BioSole International, he focuses on using Cassandra to encode data dependencies that enable reproducible, auditable, and constrained AI reasoning.
Since the early days of the Cassandra Open Source project, it has been recognized as a critical component in the evolution of telecom infrastructure, particularly mobile core networks. This talk traces how early design constraints shaped architectural decisions in large-scale deployments. It is a story told across three cities in the Persian Gulf, under tight launch timelines, geopolitical complexity, and read-after-write visibility requirements that had an upper limit of 11ms.

**First Talk Description:**
• The Bar is on Which Floor? Improving Altitude and Floor Detection
Liam Meier, Director of Engineering at Radar
iOS can estimate a device's altitude. In real world conditions, this estimate is far less accurate and reliable than horizontal (lat/lng) positioning, which makes the question "which floor is someone on?" hard to answer. Leveraging little known sensors in mobile phones and clever correction techniques enabled by at-scale deployments, we're able to determine mobile device altitude and floor level with markedly higher accuracy than what's available today.
Liam Meier is Director of Engineering at Radar, where he leads the team behind Radar’s leading geolocation platform and mobile SDKs, deployed on over 300 million devices. Previously, he founded and built products at early-stage startups. In a past life, he studied galaxy formation under the influence of dark matter — helpful training for making sense of noisy sensor data.
**Second Talk Description:**
• Beyond the Sandbox: Secure iOS Development in an Era of New Security Standards
Mike Sanderson
Even as mobile apps have come to handle sensitive medical, financial, and personal information, the practices of secure mobile app development has remained a patchwork of received wisdom and platform constraints, with developers who want to practice secure development are often unclear on how to do so or what that even means.
In the past few years, leaders in security standards have increasingly seen the need to for digital security incorporate secure coding earlier into the software development process, known as "shift left," and included references to systematic cybersecurity standards.
This talk will look at how secure mobile app development fits into the larger security picture, including the security of the iOS platform and the MacOS platform apps are developed on. The talk will look at sources for guidance for secure iOS software development, in particular the OWASP flagship Mobile App Security project and other OWASP efforts. The idea will be to start to equip iOS developers not only to make good decisions but to systematically identify best practices and understand how they fit into the larger security picture.
Mike Sanderson is a writer and computer programmer who has worked on iOS apps full-time since 2013, including working with a launch partner of Apple Wallet in iOS 9, working on a secure message app at scale, and independently finding and reporting an authentication-bypass bug on a medical iOS app, which was confirmed. Recently, Mike has provided comments on several National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) draft papers related to cybersecurity.

Totally Listening: Using a Total Communication Approach
This event will be online at [YouTube](https://youtu.be/YL9RuBmoJEY) and in-person (New York City). **The speaker and live stream starts at 7:30 pm ET**. In-person attendees may arrive as early as 7 pm ET. If arriving late, please leave a comment on this page and someone will come down ASAP.
**Description**
This talk, from the perspective of speech pathologists who specialize in communication language, focuses on strategies and perspectives that support all people, with or without a clinical or therapeutic background, in meaningfully engaging with individuals who are non-speaking or minimally-speaking to uplift and celebrate their unique personalities as well as provide space and opportunity for autonomy, self-expression, and connection with others.
They'll provide an overview of total communication to broaden understanding of how all individuals use different forms of communication depending on our anatomy, physiology, cognition, preferences, and personality, as well as how we may code-switch depending on the setting, context, and our current state.
The importance of being an informed and welcoming communication partner will be discussed to broaden perspectives on the significance of human connection. They'll outline specific, language-based strategies and provide examples. Attendees will have an opportunity to practice self-awareness of their own preferred communication methods, handling discomfort when interactions may push those boundaries, and opening their minds to the idea that connection transcends speech!
We'll cover:
* What is AAC? (Many different forms)
* Strategies such as attributing meaning and verbal referencing
* Following someone's lead
* Partner-Assisted Scanning (PAS)
* Expressive, receptive, and social language
* Self-awareness of preferred communication methods
