Meditation (English)
Practice Buddhist meditation in the middle of Budapest!
The meditation is suitable for beginners. Each regular meditation is guided and begins with a short introduction. (all together is about 30-40 minutes)
Our regular Buddhist meditations have proven popular with people who want to integrate authentic Buddhist methods into their daily lives. For the modern lay person who is juggling work, relationships, and an active role in society, we teach a meditation that is easy to learn, and profound and powerful for experienced practitioners.
The meditation originates from the Karma Kagyu tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. It has a cumulative effect on mind, leading to greater clarity and calmness. Fearlessness, joy, and active compassion are the result of regular practice of Buddhist meditation.
* Do I need any special clothing?
No special clothing needed.
* Does the attendance cost anything?
No, the meditation is free.
Session #23 - What is the meaning of life?
From the earliest moments of human reflection, people have asked a question as simple as it is profound: **Why are we here?**
"*The unexamined life is not worth living,*"
Socrates
The search for the meaning of life is not merely an abstract puzzle; it is woven into our choices, our values, and the way we understand happiness, suffering, and purpose. In ancient Athens, Socrates suggested that a meaningful life begins with examination, placing self-knowledge at the center of human existence.
For Socrates, meaning was not something handed to us but something discovered **through dialogue, questioning, and moral awareness**. Aristotle later offered a different but complementary vision.
He proposed that the purpose of human life is eudaimonia, often translated as **flourishing**. According to Aristotle, meaning is found not in fleeting pleasure but in living virtuously, developing our capacities, and contributing to the life of the community. A meaningful life, in his view, is one lived in accordance with reason, balance, and excellence of character.
Modern philosophy introduced a more unsettling perspective. Jean-Paul Sartre argued that human beings are âcondemned to be free.â There is no predetermined purpose, no universal script that defines our existence. Instead, meaning emerges from **our choices**. We create who we are through action, and with that freedom comes responsibility. Meaning, then, is not discovered but constructed.
Simone de Beauvoir extended this existential insight by emphasizing that meaning is not created in isolation. Human freedom exists in relation to others. To live meaningfully is to recognize both oneâs own freedom and the freedom of others, and to engage in projects that affirm shared humanity. For de Beauvoir, meaning involves responsibility, connection, and the ethical use of freedom in a world that offers no fixed answers.
Across these perspectives, a fascinating tension emerges. *Is meaning something we discover, cultivate, or create?*
Is it rooted in virtue, happiness, responsibility, relationships, or purpose?
Perhaps the enduring power of this question lies precisely in the fact that no single answer has ever satisfied everyone. Today, the question remains open, inviting each generation to respond in its own way. Philosophy offers frameworks, science offers explanations, culture offers narrativesâbut ultimately the question turns toward each of us personally.
So as we begin this seminar, we return to the question that has echoed across centuries of thought and experience: **What is the meaning of life to you?**
**BIO**: Georgiana Turculet is a multidisciplinary philosopher and two-time Marie Curie fellow. She holds a PhD from Central European University and has held academic positions at several European institutions, including the Department of Philosophy at Pompeu Fabra University and the Department of Philosophy at University of Copenhagen

Women's Day Kintsugi - Art Therapy Workshop
This is a **paid** and **Women only** event!
In honor of International ***Womenâs Day (8th of March)***, we celebrate not only strength and success, but also resilience â the quiet, powerful kind that lives in every womanâs story. Every scar, every lesson, and every woman who continues to rise â stronger, wiser, and beautifully whole.
***Kintsugi*** dates back to the 15th century and means âjoining with goldâ in Japanese. A broken object (ceramic) is glued together with lacquer and then the seams are covered with gold. Wabi Sabi, related to Kintsugi, is the philosophy of embracing our flaws and lifeâs fragility.
During the workshop, we will go through the various processes of Kintsugi â breaking, grinding, joining, gluing, gilding â thereby we will also see our own vulnerability on the path to becoming whole.
**Leading the workshop:** Jennifer Nyerki (Art and Sociotherapist)
**Date:** Saturday 7 March 2026 - 09:30-13:30
**Location:** 7th district
**Fee:** 15,000 HUF via bank transfer only!

**What moves are you making?**
A promotion youâre working toward.
A role change youâre considering.
A bigger leadership opportunity.
A conversation that needs to happen.
A decision thatâs been sitting in the back of your mind.
For our Q1 Women in Product Columbus event, weâre creating space to actually work through those moments.
**Making Moves** is an evening of focused, facilitated coaching conversations with experienced mentors from our local product community. This isnât a panel. Itâs not passive networking. Itâs small-group dialogue designed to be thoughtful, practical, and worth your time.
Hereâs how it will work:
âą Youâll choose a topic that reflects what youâre navigating right now
âą Youâll join a small coaching circle (5â7 participants)
âą Each circle is led by a mentor who has lived experience in that area
âą Weâll run two rounds so you can go deeper or explore a second conversation
### Coaching Topics:
âą Communicating the Value of Your Work (or Team)
âą Career Transitions & Whatâs Next
âą Growing Into Leadership
âą Staying Relevant as Technology (and AI) Changes
âą Getting Alignment and Decisions from Leadership
Our goal is simple: you leave with clearer thinking, practical perspective, and at least one next step you feel confident about.
Space in each circle will be limited to keep conversations meaningful.
If this sounds like the kind of room youâve been wanting to be in, weâd love to see you on March 10.

Code Anywhere by Talking to your Phone
Drake Lundstrom is presenting:
Code Anywhere by Talking to your Phone
Abstract:
Have you heard the trend of people deploying code anywhere from checkout lines to doctors' offices? In this talk, you will learn how to talk to your phone and have an app on Azure to show your friend 5 minutes later. The basic DevOps tools you already know, plus a little bit of AI magic, are all you need!
If you want to follow along, the demo will be in Azure with GitHub Actions and GitHub Copilot, and you can have it set up on your phone by the end of the session. Just come in with an Azure account and a GitHub repo.
Join us for pizza, drinks, and networking @ Improving's office. Doors open at 5:45.
Speak Easy (Storytelling)
The topic for March is "Our Bodies, Ourselves"
Speak Easy: true stories, told live.
The idea is simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant- it's up to you. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast.
Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human. And in a world of smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and more . . . it gives people a real, breathing, in-person way to connect.
The night is geared for true stories of all kinds, taking the best tales told around kitchen tables, in darkened pubs, on the street corner, and at late-night parties and giving them an audience. Speak Easy is also a great outlet for performers, writers, and artists looking to share their favorite stories and perfect their skills. We strongly encourage tellers to please tell the story rather than read it so we keep within the spirit of good storytelling and stay engaged with the audience. All are welcome. Hang around after the show for a drink and build community!
