You're a Solopreneur? Normally working at your desk at home? Wanting to get out and about more? Join me in getting work done in a relaxed work environment where you can chat with other Solopreneurs and get things done! I will reserve a table. While working mostly, there will be time at the beginning and in the end to have a chat amongst each other (or during the meetup, as long as it doesn't disturb people working). The event is free to join. I do simply ask you to purchase something from the bar to support the venue. I advise you to bring your devices fully charged. Also: do bring headphones if you want to tune out some noise or want to take any calls. Happy to meet you!
JavaScript Luzern #3
JavaScript Luzern #3
**🚀 JavaScript Luzern Meetup** Hey everyone! We're planning for another evening of frontend goodness. 📋 What's on the agenda? **Coding the coder: how coding agents work - Hugo Sousa** You’ve probably already tried or are using on a daily basis a coding agent, such as Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Pi, etc. But perhaps you’re not aware of how they work. What is a coding agent? What does it take to build one? In this talk I’ll dig into the internals of coding agents and what it takes to build a minimal one. **The Browser Is Your Framework - Mateusz Halada** Let’s explore how modern web applications can be built directly on the platform using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and browser APIs - without defaulting to heavy frameworks. Through a live demo, we’ll recreate common UI patterns and show what frameworks actually abstract under the hood. We’ll also demystify concepts like SPA, SSR, and CSR to understand where they truly come from. The goal isn’t to replace frameworks, but to give you the clarity to choose them intentionally—and know when you don’t need them. **Coding Atrophy: What Software Engineers Can Learn From Aviation - Maximilian Walterskirchen** Aviation spent 30 years figuring out that automated cockpits were atrophying pilot skills. The data on AI coding tools is starting to look uncomfortably similar. A talk on what aviation figured out, what the research shows, and the bug that made me realize my own skills had gone soft. 🎤 Call for Speakers! We still have open slots and would love to hear from you! If you've been working on something interesting — whether it's AI-related or any other JavaScript/CSS topic — reach out and share it with the community. Not sure what to talk about? We can help suggest a topic based on your interests. First-time speakers are absolutely welcome! Food and drinks are on us. A big thank you to [CSS](https://www.css.ch/) for providing the location! See you there! 🙌

Movie Night: Metropolis (1927)
Movie Night: Metropolis (1927)
In the 21st-century, *Metropolis* is a gigantic city sharply divided between the thinkers (wealthy industrialists and the finance elite), who live in opulent towers above ground, and the working class, who toil endlessly in the dangerous factories far below. The story follows Freder (Gustav Fröhlich), the son of the city's master Joh Fredersen, who falls in love with Maria (Brigitte Helm), a charismatic worker and prophet who preaches hope and peace between the classes. When Freder’s father (Alfred Abel) tries to crush the workers' rebellion using a malevolent, robotic double of Maria, the clash between humanity and technology threatens to destroy the entire city. This silent masterpiece explores timeless themes of class conflict, industrial exploitation, and the dehumanization of workers by technology. Directed by Fritz Lang *(Woman in the Moon, Die Nibelungen)*. Tickets: https://arthouse.ch/movies/metropolis-219967 Dinner or drinks before the movie? Sitting together? Meeting point? We can coordinate it on our WhatsApp Group. Not a member? Open-mic StorySLAM 🎙 A CHANGE OF HEART
Open-mic StorySLAM 🎙 A CHANGE OF HEART
### **THE RADICAL PIVOT** One minute you’re certain; the next, the world has shifted beneath your feet. [A Change of Heart](https://zurichstorytellers.ch/events/a-change-of-heart) isn’t just a new opinion—it’s a 7.0 magnitude quake. It’s the 3:00 AM realization that your "forever" plan is actually a dead end. It’s the terrifying, electric moment you stop trying to be right so you can finally be happy. On May 28, we explore the seismic shifts, the shock U-turns, and the radical courage it takes to change your mind. "*Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything*." — **George Bernard Shaw** **DO YOU HAVE A STORY OF CHANGE?** Did a rival you loathed become the person you trust most? Did that six-figure dream job devolve into a hamster wheel? Maybe you fell for someone who was the polar opposite of your "type." If you’ve experienced a pivot that redrew your map, come share your truth. Past storytellers testify: the catharsis of the stage makes you feel like a million bucks—and our audience will shower you with the love you deserve. **FEEL THE SHIFT** Maybe your own sea change is still too fresh to speak out loud. We get it. Come take a seat as our storytellers navigate the raw reality of closing one door to kick open another. You’ll feel that tightening in your chest when the stakes get high and that collective sigh of relief when the tension breaks into laughter. You aren’t just a spectator; you’re one of the witnesses. Listen to your heart, then cast your vote for the “Best StorySLAM of the Month.” **PROGRAMME:** **Theme of the night: [A CHANGE OF HEART](https://zurichstorytellers.ch/events/a-change-of-heart)** **19:00** Doors open\* **19:30** Welcome with co-host cold open story **20:00** StorySLAM Part ONE \*\* **20:30** INTERMISSION **21:00** StorySLAM Part TWO \*\* **21:50** Voting for best StorySLAM of the night **22:00** Afterparty: enjoy drinks and connect with fellow storytellers **\*** Tickets CHF 25 at **[EventFrog](https://eventfrog.ch/en/p/theatre-stage/stage-event/storyslam-a-change-of-heart-7457430914768864060.html)** or at the door (cash or TWINT). \*\* StorySLAM stories are 5-7 minutes and true, as recalled by the storyteller. This talk will discuss a playbook security teams can apply today — covering the CSA "Mythos-Ready" framework, AWS Security Agent, agentic threat modeling, and the fundamentals that continue to work **Using HoneyPots to protect critical Infrastructure (Giulio):** How do you protect your critical infrastructure in the days of agentic ai and very limited options on your hosts? You need to get creative and use stone age tech. I’ll give you some insights, from our journey and pitfalls you might be facing (and should be avoided :)) **We Tried to Detect Prompt Injection in Coding Agents. Here's What Broke (Paulo):** As a community, we are delegating a significant part of our development workflow to agents, and as the use cases grow, the risk of prompt injection keeps increasing - to the point that it made it to the top of the OWASP LLM Top 10. In this talk, I'll explore the concept of "detect and prevent prompt injection" and why it is particularly hard to do for coding agents. **Speaker Details:** **Markus Rollwagen** Senior Solutions Architect at AWS, based in Switzerland Markus enjoys deep dive technical discussions, while keeping an eye on the big picture and the customer goals. With a software engineering background, he embraces infrastructure as code and is passionate about all things security. **Giulio Grazzi** Head IT Security, SRF From bike messaging to networking to infosec - always maximize never max out. She has exposed her legs in a biblical city, an act they deem forbidden, and their judgement will echo on through her adolescence. When our narrator finally admits to her mother that she is queer, her mother's response only intensifies a sense of shame: 'You exist too much,' she tells her daughter. Told in vignettes that flash between the U.S. and the Middle East--from New York to Jordan, Lebanon, and Palestine--Zaina Arafat's debut novel traces her protagonist's progress from blushing teen to sought-after DJ and aspiring writer.

Welcome, readers! Our May read is **_Kindred_ by Octavia E. Butler.** The story follows Dana, a Black woman living in 1976 California, who is suddenly pulled back to a Maryland plantation before the Civil War. She learns her survival is tied to a white slaveholder’s son. Forced to move between centuries, she must endure the brutal realities of slavery while fighting to hold on to her identity. Tense, intimate, and unforgettable, Kindred explores how the past refuses to stay buried. Looking forward to discussing with everyone! We will meet at Zaftig Brewing Co in their event room in the back. We are welcome to bring in our own food, but **drinks must be purchased at the bar.** Happy reading! 📖
