Hi everyone, In this session, we'll be covering the Black American classic, **Passing** by **Nella Larsen**. This book was published in 1929, during the height of the Harlem Renaissance, a period of development of Black American art and scholarship during the 1920's and 30's. We follow the story of Clare Kendry and Irene Redfield, two childhood friends in New York City, as they reunite in adulthood. While Irene grew to be a prominent member of the Black community of Harlem, Clare left it all behind and began to conceal her race from everyone around her, including her racist husband. Larsen draws on her own complex experiences to explore themes of race, class, eugenics, and sexuality. We will be covering the **entirety** of **Passing** in this session. Dodgeball is back again! If you’ve been wanting to come out, this is an easy one to join. We’ll be playing for about 1.5 to 2 hours, you do not need to bring any equipment, and no experience is needed. We use a specific set of rules and equipment to make the games run better and keep them fun for everybody, not just people who already know how to play. If it rains, the event will be canceled.
