Join us at this historic studio under the arches of Hungerford Bridge on the South Bank of the Thames, where the renowned painter and reportage artist Felix Topolski RA worked from 1951 until 1989 for an evening hosted by his grandson Lucian Topolski. Mark Lovelace will lead the drawing, Mark is an artist, with a special interest in drawing, who has been running classes at the Barbican Art Society, and at London Life Drawing, for many years. The studio has easels and all the equipment you might want, including a variety of drawing materials. Sketchbooks with reproductions of work by Felix Topolski are also available to purchase. Lucien will be around after the class to socialise, and you are welcome to bring your own drinks. There is also the Topolski Bar nearby. Mark will explain some approaches to drawing which reflect the artistic concerns of Felix Topolski. Individual feedback is available if desired. **Back by popular demand, on Wednesday 22nd April - we’re hugely excited to be hosting our latest Drink & Do Crafts Night!** Yep, after a bit of a wait - we’ll once again be getting our creative juices flowing and heading to Knightsbridge for an evening of crafts and social drinks, exclusively for 20s and 30s. The theme of the night will be **"Around the World"**, and over the course of the evening, you’ll have the chance to try both painting and pottery. As part of this, we’ll provide paints, brushes, and equipment to help you create your own travel-inspired masterpiece - whether it’s a tropical beach at sunset, a dreamy city skyline, a famous world landmark or a place you’ve been dying to visit. But that's not all, as you’ll also have the chance to try your hand at pottery with air-dry clay. If you've not used it before, air-dry clay is great for trying out sculpting bowls, figurines, or ornaments and unlike normal clay - it doesn't require firing in a kiln and so you can take it home with you. And once the crafting is done and your creations are complete, we’ll clear the tables so you can unwind, grab another drink, and get to know your fellow artists. For many years there has been a campaign to get a stretch of the South Bank designated as an official 'Sculpture Park'. It's no wonder. The stroll between St Thomas's Hospital and the National Theatre alone has some 17 notable sculptures/artworks. From the 1682 stone statue of King Edward VI to the imposing 2016 figure of Mary Seacole (pictured), striding off in front of a huge disc hewn from Crimean rock. Some of the sights might be familiar (Nelson Mandela at the Royal Festival Hall) but many are off the beaten track and deserve more attention.
