Please BOOK A FREE TICKET VISIT IN ADVANCE, on the British Museum website. This is to avoid queuing. I have a few spare tickets so you can message me with your email address or Whatsapp number if you want to use one of them. Meet on the seats in the Great Court opposite the information desk. The event is free to join. Please consider contributing contribute £2 toward the cost of the event and for my time. Alternatively, I can provide tuition at a cost of £10 for the session. All welcome! This is a studio based long pose life drawing and painting session. We have a nude model for two hours in a single pose to give you time to complete a finished drawing or to paint the figure. You are welcome to draw or paint in oils or wet media. Our studio is purpose built and well equipped with easels, drawing boards, clips and so on. We sell materials at reasonable prices so if you forget anything we should be able to help you out. We have professional lighting for the models and full spectrum lights for the studio to give you a good experience. **Join us at Dr Johnson's House for an evening talk: 'Johnson, Crime and Punishment, in Four Cases'. Tickets include a welcome drink and chance to view Dr Johnson's House.** Join us for a fascinating exploration of Samuel Johnson's entanglements with ideas of criminality and causality. Four experts offer their insights into ways in which Johnson wrestled with wrongdoing, his own, as well as those of other people, and tried to stake out the terms of a shift in the way society addressed and corrected them. Crime was rife in Georgian London, but so too was punishment. In the eighteenth century, you could be hanged for more than 350 offences, including wounding a hawk, fraternizing with gypsies, and defacing some, (but not all) of London's bridges. People were sent to prison for being in debt as was the case with the poet Richard Savage; and street walkers were sent to Bridewells for 'correction', while those who paid them for their services went scot free. Samuel Johnson had a boundless compassion for people in desperate situations, and at the same time, an unwavering sense of Justice. All his life, he vied with the difficulty of reconciling these two pillars of his character, and of good society itself. A most beautiful 9 to 10 mile walk in Cambridgeshire along the Great River Ouse to Houghton Mill from Saint Ives and then back to Huntingdon through the many watermeadows and the oddly named Godmanchester! We shall first explore Holt Island Nature Reserve a delightful quiet oasis that houses much wildlife and birds in medieval tranquil market town of Saint Ives that has a 15th century stone bridge with a chapel attached. Lets go with the flow! Please arrive by 9.05am as to facilitate the purchase of group train tickets for the 9.46am train that arrives at Huntingdon at 10.50am. Train ticket : Return to Huntington Or you may decide to drive. We shall then take B bus at 11.20am to Langley Close in Saint Ives. Meetup fee £8 payable in cash or £6 by Friday in advance by bank transfer, details available upon request. Walk will commence by noon. Please bring packed lunch, water, snacks etc along with waterproof jacket and walking shoes / trainers. We shall spend lunch time in Saint Ives. **Back by popular demand, on Friday 27th March we’re excited to be hosting our latest Drink & Do Night!** But for this one - instead of our usual paint and pottery, we’ll be teaming up with Something Good Workshops for a **Mixed Media Cyanotype Workshop,** exclusively for our community 🎨 If you’ve never tried cyanotype before, it’s a famous print making technique that creates distinctive deep blue artworks that you may have seen in galleries or design markets. The evening will start with a relaxed introduction where the workshop team will walk us through the process and materials. You’ll then design your own A6 artwork using a mix of bold materials like plants, tape, drawings and lettering, layering everything onto acetate to build your composition **🌿** Once you're happy with your design, they'll then place your image onto light-sensitive paper and expose it using specialist lighting, to reveal your finished cyanotype artwork. It should be a fun new experience and throughout the evening - there will be a bar open, so you can grab drinks and build some new connections - as you create your piece. We thought of one of the interesting things that can be enjoyed at this time of the year. We will be meeting at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for a "Fish Fry" in Marian Hall on Friday, March 27th at 5:00 PM. It might be fun for you to experience what has become a tradition on the Fridays before Easter. They will have fried fish or baked fish, French fries and Cole slaw, as well as beverages, all for $16.00 for adults. They will have other beverages and desserts available for sale, as well. We have never tried this, and sometimes there are quite a few people at these events so we hope that we will be able to find each other easily.
