***Ready for sign-up!*** Question? [WhatsApp organizer](http://wa.link/j2at9z) ➡️ Pay to secure a slot Min. 15 pax to confirm. **What will you experience?** **Seaside living, the rustic style**: 2 easy yet scenic coastal hikes, 1 night camping by the sea, learn some basic survival skills & cook your own dinner with team effort. **INTRODUCTION** The Selantai and Pulau Mawar hike in Mersing, Johor, is a short yet scenic coastal trail renowned for its dramatic rock formations, crystal-clear blue waters, and tranquil, untouched beaches. The route passes through coastal shrubs, sandy stretches, and rocky outcrops before reaching the iconic **“Heaven’s Gate (天堂之门)”** rocks at Pulau Mawar—one of the area’s most photogenic spots. It’s an easy-to-moderate hike suitable for beginners, offering beautiful sunrise views and a peaceful, nature-rich escape by the sea. **[Drone video of Heaven's Gate: CLICK](https://www.instagram.com/reel/DBu_W4OSp_N/)** People flock to Pulau Mawar undoubtedly for the Heaven’s Gate view – a huge rock arch that opens to the view of the South China Sea. In Malay, it is also known as Gerbang Laut or in Chinese, “天堂之门”, which means “Door to Heaven”. Don’t be deceived by the photo; the actual rock arch is a lot bigger than it looks. **=> [Read more here](https://1step1footprint.com/pulau-mawar-heavens-gate/)** Pulau Mawar is located at the tip of Pantai Mawar beach, just a 30-minute drive north of Mersing Town/Jetty. Many years ago, it was indeed an island separated by a small strait from the mainland. However, after years of alternating high and low tides, a sandbank forms, connecting Pantai Mawar to Pulau Mawar. So, it is not a *Pulau,* an island anymore – totally accessible on foot! **Bukit Selantai** is a short but rewarding coastal hill hike known for its sweeping sea views and peaceful natural setting. The trail climbs gently through light forest and rocky terrain before opening up to panoramic vistas of the coastline, offshore islands, and turquoise waters. Suitable for beginners with a moderate fitness level. **[The hiking video](https://youtu.be/B34L21HUDBw)** **[For drone video, click](https://www.tiktok.com/@dronecococil/video/7536101625736269073)** **Cost, SGD: $ 245 / pax [2 pax in a tent]** 1. Come, join us on this breathtaking adventure as we take you to uncover Japan’s hidden gems, beautiful mountains, tranquil lakes and crimson forests during the early sakura season which comes slightly earlier in the mountains. **Note:** This is not your typical tour — it’s an hiking cum road-trip adventure designed for hikers, nature-lovers, photographers and explorers who crave the freedom to roam beyond the boring tourist trail that few know of. Our journey begins in Tokyo before we board the train to **Odawara**, where the real adventure starts. From here, we’ll hit the road to explore the dramatic coastlines of the **Izu Peninsula**, **tranquil mirror lakes** and **waterfalls**, and the **beautiful forests** of the **Amagi Mountains.** We’ll soak in **rejuvenating onsen hot springs,** visit **charming countryside towns**, and hike through the breathtaking landscapes of **Shosenkyo Gorge** and the cherry-blossom trees/ forests and **picturesque** **5 Lakes** surrounding **majestic Mt Fuji**. But that’s not all — we’ll also visit **vineyards, winery**, **local fruit farms**, indulge in seasonal harvests, and experience authentic Japanese cuisine along the way. Expect handmade soba, melt-in-your-mouth sashimi, and hidden izakayas only locals know. Each day offers something different: **misty mountain trails, lakeside sunsets, volcanic valleys, coastal viewpoints,** and **soul-soothing soaks** in traditional hot-spring onsens. To end our journey with a bang, we return to Tokyo and dive into the neon-lit buzz of **Shinjuku** — a perfect contrast to the serenity we’ve just experienced. This is your chance to explore Japan’s beauty off from the usual touristy sights during the cherry-blossom season - the way few ever do and knew — with the breeze in your hair, a smile, a handphone/ camera in hand, and new friends by your side. We're sure that **90%** of these places we're showing you will be new or unknown to you even though you may have been to Japan several times before. Cos these hidden gems, amazing hiking trails, farms, small villages & scenic places are curated from my 40+ years of adventures there in Japan. They are mostly off-the-beaten track, may not be found in Google maps and not easily accessible without your own private vehicle and good topo navigation skills. So ... are you game for adventure to enjoy autumn in picturesque Japan and discover new hidden trails with us? \*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\* **TRIP HIGHLIGHTS:** **1) IZU PENINSULA** *A hidden gem south of Tokyo, the Izu Peninsula offers a stunning blend of coastal cliffs, serene waterfalls, and forested mountains ablaze with sakura colours. From the scenic Kawazu Seven Waterfalls to the vibrant woods & forests of Shuzenji, Izu is perfect for hikers and onsen lovers alike. Explore charming hot spring towns, dramatic sea caves in Dogashima, and mountain trails in the Amagi Highlands — all while tasting fresh seafood and soaking in ocean-view baths.* **2) HAKONE** *Hakone is a beloved getaway known for its steaming hot springs, volcanic landscapes, and iconic views of Mt. Fuji. Visitors can hike quiet forest trails, cruise across the misty waters of Lake Ashi, and stroll down cedar-lined paths of the old Tokaido Road. The Hakone Open-Air Museum adds an artistic twist to nature, while hidden onsens and traditional inns provide the perfect retreat after a day of exploring. In spring, the surrounding hills burst into brilliant pink and red, creating picture-perfect scenes.* **3) MT. Let's try a Friday Night Fish Fry!
Let's try a Friday Night Fish Fry!
We thought of one of the interesting things that can be enjoyed at this time of the year. We will be meeting at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for a "Fish Fry" in Marian Hall on Friday, March 27th at 5:00 PM. It might be fun for you to experience what has become a tradition on the Fridays before Easter. They will have fried fish or baked fish, French fries and Cole slaw, as well as beverages, all for $16.00 for adults. They will have other beverages and desserts available for sale, as well. We have never tried this, and sometimes there are quite a few people at these events so we hope that we will be able to find each other easily. I'll try to have signs outside Marian Hall that Identify our group. We hope to have you join us!

Free In-Person Meeting: Get Over Losses & Betrayals, Build Lasting Relationships
Free In-Person Meeting: Get Over Losses & Betrayals, Build Lasting Relationships
This is a free, in-person meeting on the subject of betrayals, losses and how to get over them so you can build lasting relationships. Burdened by a stressful relationship? Unhealthy relationships can trigger feelings of anger, despair or self-doubt. They can create dwindling spirals of fights and seeking to make-up, or trying to “pin the blame” on someone or something. If you don’t find the RIGHT reasons, or select the correct sources of the problem, the problem can just get worse and worse. Whether in love or personal ties, with friends or at work, our life really IS affected by the quality of our relationships. Good ones can promote pleasure and survival while less optimum ones can lead to annoyance, anger, self-doubt, stress, or even affect our health and ability to survive well. Whether you are suffering from a divorce, or a painful break-up, don’t know who to trust (or who to CHOOSE) as a partner, friend, boss or employee - the anxiety of relationship troubles can really make a mess of things. Maybe you’ve suffered a betrayal, or are dealing with hostility or criticalness or invalidation. Dwindling relationships can involve destructive behavior, where we hurt those we love, or start succumbing to self-destructive thoughts, attitudes or behaviors that spiral out of control and affect much more than our immediate relationship. Past losses in love or life can affect how we act or react to new people and situations and hold us back from even starting to create new, possibly great relationships! How can one get back onto a saner course of action? Come to our Meetup, where we can introduce you to some of the knowledge, tools and techniques of the breakthroughs in the field of the mind that we can apply to this ever important area of life: human relationships! Break free from self imposed limitations Here we will discuss: • How to “erase” the trauma of past hurts and betrayals so that one isn’t always repeating past mistakes. • Why and how do the negative emotions of others affect you? • Why is my partner withdrawing and what can I do about it? • Why do we sometimes feel compelled to hurt the ones we love? • Fights & arguments - what's really behind them? • What underlies “corrosive criticism” or the need to invalidate self or others? • How one can stably change one’s outlook on life so they can affect positive change? • Where do compulsive destructive behaviors come from and what can be done about them? • How to form closer bonds & keep growing the relationships with the people you care about? • How to enhance one’s own ability to survive and create positive healthy relationships whether in love, family & friendships or in work, business or one’s career? Relationships can be hard and life itself IS challenging. Why not arm yourself with the knowledge and breakthroughs that have been made about the mind, mental reactions & interpersonal relationships, so that one has better awareness and control over themselves and life in general. Learn where painful experiences are “stored” and how they can unknowingly affect us. You will also find out how one can “erase” those past painful experiences so that one is free to move forward without being tripped up by the past. Learn too, about what can lead some people to become “toxic” personalities and how to identify those traits in others so you won’t be tripped up trusting the wrong person. Our free Meet-ups occur in a safe environment where one can learn, without fear of judgment or criticism, and without the recommendation of harmful mental techniques or therapies, just how YOU can get yourself onto a happier & more successful path: in love & in life. We look forward to having you join us! This class is sponsored by the Dianetics & Scientology Life Improvement Center of Central Ohio.
Humanist Program: Fighting the Efforts to Insert Religion into Public Education
Humanist Program: Fighting the Efforts to Insert Religion into Public Education
The Humanist Monthly Program is our longest running event and still a community favorite. In the old days it used to be called "Going to HCCO" and we still like to think of it as our flagship event. Food and drinks will be provided at the event. Feel free to show up a little bit early to hang out and talk. Our March speakers are Molly Gaines and Zack Parrish, co-organizers of the Secular Education Association: They will share their story of how a small group of Ohio parents grew into a national organization tracking released-time religious instruction and other church–state issues in public schools. The presentation will cover SEA’s early wins and hard lessons, what we’re seeing nationally right now, and how local advocates can play a meaningful role in protecting public education. Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of the landscape — and practical ways to get involved. Going forward our meetings will be hybrid.
