Craft Night
Craft Night
**Craft Night has returned to Tog!** *From 6.30 pm to 8.30 pm every second Sunday, drop by and join in.* Whether you make the yarn itself (we love spinners!) or noodle about with e-textiles and blinky quilts, you will be very welcome. If you haven’t been to Craft Night before, it’s mainly people working on portable crafts like yarn-based and textile projects, jewellery and paper crafts. Feel free to bring your current WIP (Work In Progress). We’ll take over the common area with crafting and conversation. We might even try to bring a group Craft Night project to Dublin Maker (it’s been a while!). You’ll find the nights on [our calendar](https://www.tog.ie/calendar/), so you don’t need to remember which every other Sunday it is. Newcomers to Tog are more than welcome to join us. See you there!

It's a €3 entry but **free for all Meetup members,** just show you're part of the group at the door :) Come along for an easygoing evening of reading, making, chatting, relaxing, or just having a break from screens for a few hours. No phones, no notifications, no pressure to do anything in particular. The welcome event is taking place in a mystery venue near Temple Bar and will only be sent to ticket holders. We’ll have a large upstairs space with light background music and plenty of room to settle in however you feel like. Attendees are encouraged to come alone as we want people to meet others. There’ll be collage materials, paper, pens, magazines, and drawing supplies available throughout the night. Bring a book if you’ve been meaning to read. Start a collage. Draw. Journal. Meet someone new. Come with friends or come on your own. You’re welcome to chat with people or keep to yourself. Both are equally encouraged. This is simply a space to switch off for a while and enjoy being present, around other people doing the same. ### On the night • Collage materials and magazines • Paper, pens and drawing materials • Space to read, write or journal • Bring your own book • Light background music • Plenty of seating • A relaxed, phone-free atmosphere Come unwind with us. **Everyone is welcome but our policy is 22+ for all Unplugged Club events** , in the future we will be doing events for younger people too :) NOTE: We will be taking photos and videos at this event. Day of Arts - workshops & artistic presentations
Day of Arts - workshops & artistic presentations
Art has long been a means to express and perceive universal values of beauty and harmony by finding an expression to unite opposites, like light and darkness, sounds and silences or movement and stillness. And the artist, like the philosopher, finds a way to make the invisible visible or perceivable, whether in paintings, sculptures, music, dance, poetry and so much more. Join us for an afternoon in the search for Wisdom through Philosophy & Art. **2pm Introduction ‘The Muses’ (Free)** Introduction to the day, with a short talk on the ‘The Muses’, inspiring poetry and dramatic readings. **Ongoing workshop – “Making a shared mosaic” (Free)** From all the individual pieces of tiles there emerges a beautiful unity, each piece is different and contributes to the collective. This is one of the key principles in Mosaic art. Learn more about this and the fundamentals of creating mosaics and how to create simple designs using colourful tiles. ***All are welcome! No experience necessary for any of the activities.*** There are also 2 other workshops running on the day, please click the links below to find out more. **From 2.30pm - Bodypercussions & Vocals (€7, 1.5 hours)** https://www.meetup.com/philosophy-in-rathmines/events/314398224/?eventOrigin=group_upcoming_events **From 3pm - Making your own sistrum (€5, 30 mins)** https://www.meetup.com/philosophy-in-rathmines/events/314398170/?eventOrigin=group_upcoming_events00
Day of Arts - Making your own sistrum (30 minutes, mini-workshop)
Day of Arts - Making your own sistrum (30 minutes, mini-workshop)
The sistrum is an ancient, ceremonial instrument used in Egypt and even before that. Plutarch said. “The sistrum makes it clear that all things in existence need to be shaken, or rattled about, and never to cease from motion but, as it were, to be woken up and agitated when they grow drowsy and torpid.” Join in to make this mysterious instrument and take it home with you. *This is an ongoing workshop, from 3pm to 5pm. Creating your sistrum takes around 30mins.*
