*A Useful Ghost* is a genre-smashing combination of fantasy, horror, romance, comedy, art house and everything in between. After the death of an employee at a family-run appliance factory, a strange phenomenon occurs. Spirits are possessing their products. This turns out to be good news for March (Wisarut Himmarat), the son of the factory owner, who is deep in mourning following the dust-poisoning death of his pregnant wife Nat (Davika Hoorne). March is reunited with his beloved in the form of a vacuum cleaner.
Changing the social conception of ghosts, Nat’s love makes her decide to be of service by getting rid of the useless ghosts. Alongside the tale of the couple is the story of a repair guy (Wanlop Rungkumjud) who shows up at the door of a self-declared “Academic Ladyboy” (Wisarut Homhuan) to fix another possessed vacuum. The intertwining stories and unimaginable turn of events reveal complex layers and deeper context beneath the setting dust. Don’t let the breathtaking images fool you. **Welkom bij Coding Wednesday!**
Samen duiken we in de creatieve wereld van programmeren. Elke maand is er een challenge of workshop gericht op coderen. In de regel maken we gebruik van de programmeertalen die je bij Novi leert (Python, Javascript, Java)
**Wat doen we deze keer?**
Altijd al samen willen werken aan een programmeerproject? Deze Coding Wednesday bouwen we een website na met de hele groep. Iedereen krijgt een apart onderdeel om te designen. Dit doen we met HTML, CSS en het Javascript framework React. De onderdelen worden met pull requests samengevoegd in het Github project.
**Heb ik voorkennis nodig?**
Het is handig als je al wat programmeerervaring hebt en hebt gewerkt met Github. Zo niet, kijk vooral mee om iets op te steken. Of werk met iemand samen!
Uiteraard kan je je voorbereiden met online tutorials.
**Wat heb je nodig?**
* Je eigen laptop met WiFi aansluiting
* Installeer een **code editor**. Novi studenten kunnen Webstorm of IntelliJ gebruiken. Anders is [VSCode](https://code.visualstudio.com/download) een prima editor
* Zorg dat je een Github account hebt en Git hebt geinstalleerd. Tip: oefen vooraf met een dummy project om te zien of je code kan toevoegen vanaf een pull request.

Sketching in Pinetum Blijdenstein
📍 Hilversum Station, 11:00 → Pinetum → back by ~15:00
🚶♂️ Short walk (~20–30 min each way)
🎯 Main location: Pinetum Blijdenstein (€4 entry)
This time we’re keeping it shorter and focusing on one beautiful spot: the Pinetum — a small botanical garden dedicated to pine trees, full of interesting shapes, textures, and quiet corners to sketch.
We’ll meet at Hilversum Station at 10:00, walk together to the garden (arriving around 10:30), and spend about 2 hours sketching.
There are some benches, but not many — please bring a foldable chair or smth alike if you’d like to sit while sketching (big blankets won’t work here).
Around 13:30, we’ll head back toward the station. If people feel like it, we can grab coffee and maybe lunch at Mout before wrapping up around 14:30.

Into the Monks’ Borderlands: Abbey Beer & Medieval Trails 🌿🍺 20 km
We’re heading out for a beautiful cross border hike through forest, heathland, open landscapes, and a very special midpoint stop: **De Achelse Kluis**, a historic abbey on the border between the Netherlands and Belgium.
The hike starts in the Netherlands and takes us through the peaceful **Leenderbos**, one of the most atmospheric forest areas in North Brabant. Expect woodland paths, sandy tracks, heath, open views, and that lovely Veluwe style feeling of moving between forest and open landscape.
As we continue south, we make our way toward the Belgian border and our main break location: **De Achelse Kluis**. This unique abbey complex lies between **Hamont Achel** and **Leende**. With roots going back to the 17th century, and later known as a Trappist abbey, it offers a beautiful neogothic setting with a brasserie, abbey shop, and a calm historic atmosphere.
After several kilometers of forest and heathland walking, arriving at the abbey will feel like a real reward. We’ll take our longer break here, with the option to enjoy the brasserie, have a coffee, try Limburgse vlaai, taste an abbey beer, or simply relax around the grounds.
After the break, we cross back into the Dutch side and return through the Leenderbos, completing a full loop through forest, heathland, and quiet countryside.
A hike with forest energy, abbey atmosphere, monks’ history, and a touch of Belgium.

Building Scalable Customer Identity Resolution Pipelines on AWS Using AI
Customer identity resolution becomes increasingly complex as organizations scale across multiple systems, regions, and data formats. Traditional rule-based approaches often fail to keep up with data variability, require constant manual tuning, and struggle with real-time processing needs.
This session presents a practical approach to building a scalable identity resolution pipeline using AWS services and modern AI techniques. The architecture combines data ingestion through Amazon S3 and AWS Glue, transformation pipelines using Spark on EMR, and machine learning models deployed via SageMaker for entity matching and standardization. Graph-based relationship modeling is implemented using Amazon Neptune to improve resolution accuracy by incorporating household and shared attribute context.
We will walk through how machine learning models can be used for name and address normalization, how intelligent blocking strategies improve matching efficiency, and how feedback loops can be introduced to continuously improve accuracy. The session also highlights how serverless components such as AWS Lambda can be used for orchestration and real-time processing.

**Total Eclipse of the Chart: School Redistricting Dashboards**
In this presentation, we will explore the utilization of maps, sets, and SQL within a Tableau dashboard to help provide “what-if” analyses generated through the use of a mapped dashboard, providing different scenarios and the potential implications of these.
While in this use case we are focused on a large school district, the concepts of utilizing existing data to explore the future impacts of modifying different geographic boundaries can be useful to many industries, balancing the mix of maps with visual analytics.
**About Our Speaker**
Robert Kramer is the Data Systems and State Reporting Coordinator at South Western City Schools in Grove City. He has worked there for 17 years, serving previously in the roles of Data Analyst, Programmer, and Operations Coordinator. Prior to working at South Western, he worked as a Systems Engineer at Pinnacle Data Systems in Groveport. He graduated in 2005 from The University of Toledo with his Bachelor’s in Computer Science and Engineering, and a minor in Mathematics. Robert resides in Obetz with his wife, and their 15 and 12 year-old daughters. He was also just elected to his 3rd four-year term on the Obetz City Council.
