🥞🎉 13th ANNUAL PANCAKE TUESDAY DINNER! 🎉🥞
🥞🎉 13th ANNUAL PANCAKE TUESDAY DINNER! 🎉🥞
🥞🎉 **13th ANNUAL PANCAKE TUESDAY DINNER!** 🎉🥞 **A Social + Friends-Making Night (and a Very Good Excuse to Eat Pancakes)** Why stay home when you can come out for **PANCAKES on Pancake Tuesday (Shrove Tuesday)**? 🥞✨ This delicious tradition happens the night before Lent — a time when, historically, people used up all the *butter, sugar, and sweet things* before giving something up for 40 days. (You do **not** have to be Catholic — it’s just a fun tradition I grew up with… and honestly, pancakes are reason enough.) It’s a weeknight, it’s cozy, it’s social, and it’s the perfect excuse to gather, laugh, and make new friends over a plate of fluffy goodness. 🧈🍯 👉 **Please note:** You don’t *have* to order pancakes… …but it’s **highly encouraged** 😉🥞 👉 **Don’t forget to join our WhatsApp group** – [CLICK HERE!](https://chat.whatsapp.com/H59mSCbsAi018gYANrKAnc?mode=ac_t) \*\*\* 🍽️ The Restaurant: **Kos Restaurant – Kensington Market** Kos is one of the **oldest and most beloved restaurants in Kensington Market** and one of Toronto’s top brunch spots. Weekend wait times can reach **an hour or more**, which tells you everything you need to know. They’re famous for: 🥞 Golden, fluffy pancakes 🍳 All-day breakfast 🌟 Fresh, made-to-order comfort food **Menu:** [Click Here!](https://www.kosrestaurant.ca/menu) ⚠️ **PLEASE NOTE:** This is a small diner, and we may be seated at **multiple tables** — but we’ll still be eating pancakes together in spirit. 🥞💛 \*\*\* 🧢 How to Find Me I’ll be outside the restaurant wearing my **Moose Hat** 🫎🎩 ❗ **PLEASE DO NOT GO INSIDE WITHOUT ME** — I’ll only wait **5 minutes** outside. 🚫 **Please don’t call the restaurant** — they won’t have any information about the event. 💬 Message **Mathew** directly with any questions. \*\*\* 💰 Costs 🍽️ **Cost of your meal:** $ (pay directly to the restaurant) 🎟️ **Meetup Fee:** $5 cash in person **or** e-transfer to 📧 \*\*[mathewmaclean@hotmail.com**](http://mathewmaclean@hotmail.com%2A%2A/) This fee helps support the group and allows us to keep hosting events like this. Thank you for supporting community! 💖 \*\*\* ⏰ A Gentle Reminder This is a **Tuesday night**. If you’re not sure you’ll be able to leave work on time, please wait to sign up until you know you can make it. Members who no-show or change their RSVP on the day may be held accountable per group rules — we want to be fair to everyone and to the restaurant. \*\*\* \#\#\# 🌈 Who Is This For? This group is open to **everyone** who wants to be social, make friends, and enjoy great experiences — whether you’re single or not. We host: 🎬 Movies 🚶 Walks & hikes 🎭 Arts & culture 🍽️ Restaurant outings …and lots of cozy, community-focused events like this one. \*\*\* ⚠️ **NOTE:** Sometimes things happen and events may need to be cancelled — please keep an eye out for updates. 👤 **Organizer:** Mathew Questions? Post on the event wall or email 📧 \*\*[torontomoviesandoutings@hotmail.com**](http://torontomoviesandoutings@hotmail.com%2A%2A/) 🥞✨ Come for the pancakes. Stay for the laughs. Leave with new friends. Honestly… what better way to spend a Tuesday night? 🥰

You can e-transfer to the following email at:** **torontohistorywalks@gmail.com** In 1832, Toronto was known as Little York and was to become the City of Toronto in 1834, the Gooderham and Worts Distillery was founded. By the late 1860s and 1870s, it blossomed into the world's largest distillery. And it's a historic jewel on our waterfront, a place to stroll, meet up, have a coffee or a bite to eat. Come and explore one of Toronto's most fascinating neighbourhoods. And get a bird's eye view of how Toronto developed around the time that Canada became a country in 1867. But let's not forget the district to the north. The area near the banks of the Don River on and around River Street and Queens Street East was the core of the Beer Industry. Let's take a look at how the two industries came together and who was involved. For a quick peek at the walk check out this link on my YouTube channel at https://youtu.be/xAp97lI_20A This walk is for all fitness levels. The meeting place for our walking adventure is opposite the streetcar loop on Cherry Street just south of Mill Street at the eastern edge of the district. \*\*NEW LOCATION UPDATE\*\* HELLO Everyone, We are happy to announce that our 6 year running group will be moving our weekly event back to our old location which is now under the Fionn MacCools banner. Game night will be at Fionn MacCools at 125 York Blvd #135 in Richmond Hill. Start time is at 7 PM sharp, so please do you absolute best to show up at least a few minutes before then. If you feel you are running late, let us know in the group chat or contact one of the organizers directly. If you are new to the group, we are made up of a friendly group of Dad's who like to play large variety of Euro style games both new and old. We encourage everyone to please try and support venue partner with food and/or drink orders, if at all possible. While the organizers usually bring a number of titles, it's fairly common for attendees to bring a game or two of their own to these events. You may want to keep in mind factors like game duration and table space required, set up time and repacking time. If you do not have anything to bring, don't feel like you have to, we've got you covered. Because the player count is usually not known precisely until everyone shows up, having extra games around with varying player counts helps when deciding what to play. Looking forward to seeing you at our next event!! PLEASE RSVP if you are coming, cheers!!

Improv Class for New Friends
Improv Class for New Friends
Don't be disappointed if you don't see a bunch of people attending. I advertise this on multiple platforms and the class usually sells out. \*\*If you don't use Paypal, email me at ralph@socap.ca and we'll figure it out. You can pay be etransfer or with a credit card/cash at the venue.\*\* Improv comedy uses several techniques to create laughter. These include, creating an atmosphere free of judgement, saying 'yes', active listening, being positive, putting your focus on others, and the importance of play and laughter. Not coincidentally, these are the same things that happen to us naturally when we are bonding with another person. In this class, we'll explore these techniques not with the goal of being funny, but with the goal of being people that other people want to be around. The teacher, Ralph MacLeod, is a co-founder of two independent improv clubs in Toronto - Bad Dog Theatre and Social Capital Theatre. He's been teaching improv for over 30 years. He also teaches these same techniques to several organizations including UofT, Google, Kraft, Shopify and many, many more. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have! FAQs and Good To Know.... After every event, a group from this class sit down and have a drink together so be prepared to stay if you want! Of course, you don't HAVE to. You also don't have to be single or bring a friend. The vibe of this class is much more 'making new friends' than a 'singles' mixer'. We usually run to 8:15 so pay for extra parking!

\*\***The Toronto History Walks Explorer Pass is available. Get it now for $125.00 for 1 year of unlimited tours, email** **torontohistorywalks@gmail.com** **for more information or for signing up!\*\*** \*\* **Please note: Please e-transfer the ticket price when booking your space for this tour! You can e-transfer to the following email at:** **torontohistorywalks@gmail.com** In the photo above from the Toronto Public Library archive is an old St. James receipt from the mid 1800s. Prior to 1844, the lands east of Parliament Street were known as the Garrison East for military purposes. York, and then Toronto was restricted to the land south of Queen Street or Lot Street from Parliament to Peter Street and Fort York to the west. With the population starting to rise, space was needed for a new cemetery out on the country, as space was limited at the original cemetery at St. James Church downtown on Church Street. In July 1844 St. James opened for the burial of people professing the Anglican faith. Most of the city's population of 18,000 lived south of Lot Street or today's Queen Street, and the cemetery was regarded to be outside the city limits. The cemetery was necessary as the church burial ground itself was filling up fast. It was in use since 1797. A crematorium was added in 1948, and 95,000 interments and 114,000 cremations have taken place at St. James. An historic land in the heart of the city. In many ways a walk through St. James is a walk through history. Like opening a book on our past! This walking tour is for all levels and walkers. The tour begins outside the Castle Frank Subway Station, and ends at the gates of the cemetery after the tour. This tour has a ticket price of $15.00 per person. \*\* **Please note: Please e-transfer the ticket amount when booking your space for this tour!
