Urban Sketching – Exploring Buildings Together (Daytime Session)
For our first session, I will bring one simple shopfront photo from Zug.
We will all work from the same reference, drawing and painting the same shopfront, each in our own individual way.
There is no right or wrong result.
### ✨ What this session is about
* slowing down and really looking at a building
* noticing small details we usually pass by
* exploring how a place feels while we draw
This is not about perfect drawings or finished-looking results.
The focus is on the **process**, not the outcome.
### 🖌 How we will work
Everyone will draw the entire shopfront, while being free to simplify, exaggerate, or interpret details in a personal way.
Watercolor, lines, and unfinished sketches are all welcome.
### 🌿 Good to know
* No experience needed
* This is not a class
* A calm, friendly and non-judgmental space

The Aldous Huxley Experience. You don’t want to miss this.
Hi everyone,
Each month we come together to explore new perspectives, challenge our thinking, and dive into the conversations that great books inspire. Our purpose is simple and meaningful: **to learn, to connect, and to nurture the richness of our human experience — one book, one dialogue, one gathering at a time.**
After *Brave New World* was recently presented to the Zug Book Club, the unanimous sentiment was clear: **we want to go deeper.**
So we’re delighted to invite you to:
**✨ The Aldous Huxley Experience**
**When:** March 26 at 19:00
**Where:** Falkenstrasse 28a, 8008 Zürich
This isn’t a standard museum visit — it’s a rare chance to immerse yourself in the world of Aldous Huxley at the **Zürich Aldous Huxley Centre**, which is dedicated to Huxley and supports the study and teaching of his works, including *Brave New World*. The centre also hosts a major exhibition of his complete works, with a substantial portion permanently exhibited at **Huxley Hall** at **Falkenstrasse 28a**, 8008 Zurich. [\[huxleycentre.ch\]](https://www.huxleycentre.ch/)
✅ **RSVP:** Reply to this message with **“I’m in”** (and feel free to bring a friend who loves big ideas).
More about the centre here: [Aldous Huxley Centre Zurich](https://www.huxleycentre.ch/)
Warmly,
Nela

We will have a reserved area next to the Kraft Markt (see the map and photo in the photos section), with seating and standing areas.

Legal UX: Protecting Your Work, Your Brand & Your Ideas
**About the talk**
Legal topics are often treated as something that comes after design, product, or branding. In reality, every UX decision, every deliverable, and every shipped product already creates legal consequences, whether we notice them or not.
In this talk, [Neena Kaiser,](https://www.linkedin.com/in/nskaiser/) [Ryccardo d' Alessio](https://www.linkedin.com/in/ryccardo-d-alessio-684337123/), and[ Tadas Zukas](https://www.linkedin.com/in/drtadaszukas/) explore the intersection of Legal × UX × Product × Personal Brand, focusing on real situations designers, founders, and builders face every day.
Rather than legal theory or scare tactics, the session is grounded in concrete cases: ownership of design work, intellectual property pitfalls, client conflicts, branding protection, and the moments where teams realize too late that legal clarity should have been part of the process from day one.
Through a live case example from Do Your Order, the speakers will show how legal thinking can actively support product growth and marketing instead of slowing it down. The session also introduces Juriscope, a legal-orientation tool designed to bring clarity to complex legal questions, demonstrated live using real UX- and product-related scenarios.
T**he talk will also open space for discussion and feedback:** how legal tools should be designed, what designers actually need from legal support, and how we can make legal experiences more transparent, accessible, and human.
**\-\-\-\> This will be an open space\, bring questions you would like the experts to Answer\.**
**Expect practical takeaways** you can immediately apply to your own work, whether you’re freelancing, building products, scaling a startup, or shaping your personal brand shared through real cases, real trade-offs, and honest conversations.

Fast Friending - Make Meaningful Connections! (21-40/Bring a lady free)
Moving to a new city is exciting at first — a fresh start, new opportunities, a new chapter. But once things settle, being new in town can feel lonely. You don’t know anyone yet, you’re unsure where to go to meet people, and everyone else seems to already have their circles.
That’s where we come in. Our Fast Friending evenings are designed especially for those who are new in town and ready to build real friendships — creating welcoming spaces where conversations flow naturally and meaningful connections begin.
**You will need to buy a ticket for attending -**

\- This evening is for ladies and gents in the 21 to 40 age group\.
\- Our evenings are not about 'dating' or for 'romantic' connections\. 'Fast friending' is NOT 'Speed dating'\. 'Fast friending' is designed to help members meet other like minded ladies and gents\. **Why Documentation Won’t Write Itself—and AI Won’t Save You**
For the last 15+ years, I’ve joined and consulted software teams that all struggled with the same problem: nobody likes writing documentation, and everybody pays the price for it. New developers spend weeks reverse-engineering codebases, architecture lives in people’s heads, and wikis quietly decay into noise.
With AI now entering the picture, many hope it will fill the gaps. It won’t.
I’ll show the simple ideas that change everything: how to think about documentation in the right levels, how to keep it close to the code, and how to avoid the decay we all know too well. These are the decisions that have to be made before any tool or process can work.
The documentation won’t write itself. But there are ways to make it far easier and far more reliable.
19:40 \~ 19:50
**Short Break**
19:50 \~ 20:10
*Marco Gähler*
**How to write good code**
There is an infinite amount of solutions how you can solve a programming problem. Some are better, others are worse. The best solutions are easy to understand, maintain and errors are not able to hide. I wrote a book "Software Engineering Made Easy" about this topic and I'm more than happy to explain some principles that make your code better. Most of them are quite simple to understand, once you understand the mechanics, why your code always breaks.
20:10 \~ 20:30
*Marius Ishida*
**AI: The Lightsaber Problem**
My talk will challenge the popular narrative that AI fundamentally democratizes power by showing that, which I believe is not true at all. While generative AI lowers entry barriers for basic tasks, it disproportionately amplifies the productivity and leverage of already computer literate users. Empirical research shows that AI acts as a skill multiplier rather than a true equalizer, with outcomes strongly dependent on users’ ability to frame problems, verify outputs, and integrate tools into complex workflows. As a result, AI risks reinforcing a new AI driven digital divide, where technical literacy—not access alone—determines who truly benefits.
20:30 onward

Sunday at Highbanks Metro Park
We will meet next to the restrooms at the [Big Meadows Picnic Area](https://www.metroparks.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/HBK_Web_1980.png). They're all the way at the back of the park, and they can be found at coordinates [40°09'06.6"N 83°02'30.2"W](https://www.google.com/maps/place/40%C2%B009'06.6%22N+83%C2%B002'30.2%22W/@40.151828,-83.0423587,214m/data=!3m2!1e3!4b1!4m10!1m5!3m4!2zNDDCsDA5JzA4LjAiTiA4M8KwMDEnNDUuMSJX!8m2!3d40.1522222!4d-83.0291944!3m3!8m2!3d40.151827!4d-83.041715?entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI0MTIwNC4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D) (near the playground and the zip line).
We'll hike about 5 miles at [Highbanks Metro Park](https://www.metroparks.net/parks-and-trails/highbanks/) on the Dripping Rock and Overlook Trails. Afterward, we'll head over to [Olentangy River Brewing](https://www.olentangybrew.com/) for drinks, coffee, or food (their Sunday [food truck](https://www.olentangybrew.com/eventsandfood) is Venezuelan and always gets good reviews).
The actual address of the brewery is [303 Green Meadows Dr S, 43035](https://www.google.com/maps/place/303+Green+Meadows+Dr+S,+Lewis+Center,+OH+43035/@40.1551938,-83.0144045,17.25z/data=!4m6!3m5!1s0x8838f395cef06c97:0xe407de61b3e30069!8m2!3d40.1551765!4d-83.0124352!16s%2Fg%2F11c26jc7j9?entry=ttu). If you can't make the hike, we should be there by noon.
**How to find our starting point in Big Meadows:**
If you are new to Highbanks, the Big Meadows picnic area is 1.5 miles into the park just after you turn into the park off of U.S. Route 23. That is, after you enter the park, drive a mile and a half into the park. You will come to a crosswalk with a yield sign in the middle of it (this is not to be confused with the first such crosswalk you come to just in front of the Nature Center, which you arrive at maybe a quarter of a mile into the park).
Just after this second crosswalk, make a left. Then make another almost immediate left into the parking lot on your left. There you will see the jungle gym and the kiddie zip line to your left. I will be just in front of the restrooms just a bit further down from the jungle gym and picnic shelter; the restroom building will also be on your left.
Using Philosophy to Cope with Current Events
So this month's prompt is more general. I think we can all agree that we are living in "unique" times that require coping skills. I think that one role and/or purpose of philosophy is to help us deal with our daily lives and our "unique" times. So, let's share our feelings and thoughts about which philosopher/philosophy we turn to in order to deal with our crazy events. Who/what helps you stay focused in your daily life and helps you sleep at night. I find that Stoicism with a little philosophical pessimism mixed in goes a long way in helping me deal with what I see as very destructive, fearful and mean spirited public policies at both the state and federal levels. Hope to see you on March 28th!
Wine Tasting - Newcomers Night
This is "***New Members Night***." If you are one of the many folks on the fence about coming to your first wine tasting with the *Hilliard Wine Club*, this is the night to come. There will be many other new people, so you won't be alone. And the regulars will be there to help make you feel welcome. We're a relaxed and warm group. We hope to see you.
**SIDE NOTE:** New members are welcome to ALL our Friday night wine tastings, but this night is a special overture to those who don't want to feel that they are the only new person in the room. Don't worry. You won't be. And don't hesitate to RSVP to other events.
**OLD MEMBERS NOTE**: Hey Old Members! You're not excluded from this event. We expect to see you there to help make the new members feel welcome.
**Sample 4 different wines** this Friday for $15 (*Cash or Venmo only please*). Glasses are provided. Bring a snack to share. Bring a bottle to share if you care to. See all the details below for the Hilliard Wine Club Wine Tasting. In Person. In Real Life. Actual Wine from glass bottles with corks and everything.
**Wine**: Tastings will be $15 for four samples as always. And you are welcome to bring a bottle of your favorite wine to share with others. Participation in the wine tastings is optional. But since you’re going, I will buy enough wine to cover you. If you bring your own wine and do not participate in the tasting you will only pay $10 to cover the door charge.
**Parking**: There are several public parking lots near the Alive614 hall. Please be careful to NOT park in private parking lots. They do tow. Check Google maps to scope out your space. Anyone who is early could easily find a parking space on the street nearby.
**Glasses**: …will be provided. Please note that after the wine tasting, the glasses need to be returned to the boxes at the service table. Please be gentle, our glasses are fragile. Uh, they are made of glass!
**Food**: You are welcome to bring a snack to share. It is not required. Most people do though. If no one brings anything, there will be nothing.
**Code of Conduct**: Though mostly understood, it’s still worth mentioning. We don’t have rules per se, but we highly discourage the following topics of discussion because they are likely to incite anti-social responses - Sex, Politics, Religion. Please don’t mistake this as an attempt to limit your free speech rights but rather a guide to a place and time for appropriate discussions.
**Extra Wine**: After everyone has had their samples, we remove the pouring spouts and any remaining wine is poured freely to whomever wants it. I hate having leftover wine.
**Queen of Hearts**: The Queen of Hearts raffle is a fundraiser for the club and a Barnum and Bailey type extravaganza - minus the dancing ponies, clowns, and actual circus. Bring your ***cash*** as the Queen does not accept American Express or other plastic.
**After the lights go out**: After the last sip of wine, when we clean up and turn the lights out, if you still haven’t had enough of us, it is typical for a group to get together and go to a local eatery for food and/or drinks or coffee.
Again, We look forward to meeting new members and reuniting with old friends.
Sincerely, ***Paul Uttermohlen***,
**Red 1 Realty**
