!ENGLISH! MONDAY DOUBLE SESSION / CAFE - Philosophy Meetup: 19:30h - 21h
Hi and welcome to our next Socrates Café philosophy meetup!
Do you have a hunger for deeper understanding of yourself and the world? Do you value deep, honest and respectful dialogue?
If yes, then this meetup will be very interesting for you.
• WHAT IS A MEETUP ABOUT?
We ask, answer and discuss questions and ideas to stimulate critical thinking and to widen our perspectives with new concepts and thoughts.
The main purpose of these meetups is to enrich ourselves with the perspectives of others, not to convince others about our own perspectives.
Our meetups are about our own philosophies of life and not necessarily what the great philosophers and academics have said or written. It is not a debating club or a platform for proselytizing. Instead, we place the emphasis on questioning, open mindedness and challenging our own assumptions while listening to and respecting the views shared by others.
A Socrates Café meetup is considered a success when participants leave a discussion with many more questions than they had at the beginning.
• WHAT TOPIC IS DISCUSSED AT THE MEETUP?
Participants suggest topics at the beginning of each meeting. We then vote and choose that event's most popular topic for discussion. No academic training in philosophy necessary; just enthusiasm for exchanging ideas and points of view.
Some examples of subjects chosen on previous meetups:
* What ideals are worth dying for?
* Why are we never satisfied?
* Why is it that human beings know that the society is going wrong, leaders are well informed about it and things continue as is?
* Is identity necessary?
* How can it be that people in democratic societies are so obsessed with power? (Desire to be different, better, stronger than others)
* What is friendship?
• WHO PARTICIPATES AT THIS MEETUP?
Anybody is more than welcome to join our meetups. Our events gather people from different backgrounds, different cultures, while no philosophical background is mandatory.
Our usual participants are people that have a hunger for deeper understanding of themselves and the world. People that value deep, honest and respectful dialogue.
The inspiration for Socrates Cafe originates with the book of the same name, written by the philosopher Christopher Phillips. (Socrates Cafe: A Fresh Taste of Philosophy, 2002). Phillips felt that the Socratic method of dialogue and discussion should be practiced not just in academic settings, but among everyday people interested in examining deep questions together. Hundreds of Socrates Cafe groups now exist around the world. **🎤 Talk #1 : The Human Footprint - Presence, Energy & Coherence in Action**
**Description**
***“The Energy That Arrives Before You Do”***
Long before you speak, something about you enters the room first.
Some call it presence.
Others call it intuition.
In this talk, we call it your **human footprint.**
* What is it saying?
* What is it attracting?
* What is it repelling?
***If you’re curious about the invisible side of your professional impact, this session will give you a new lens to understand, and elevate, how you show up.***
**About our speaker:**
**Jhamile Abuabara**
Jhamile Abuabara, an Organizational Architect and the creator of the H.T.G.C.™ Method, as well as the Founder of DMK Tribe, a global community dedicated to human‑centered leadership and growth.

**Scale Your Brand.**
**Description**
What if your brand isn’t unclear—just untranslated?
The Identity Algorithm is a live brand lab where Human Design, Archetypes, and AI converge to turn your essence into a strategic, visual, and usable brand foundation.
This isn’t theory. This is identity in action—decisions made, clarity unlocked, and a brand that finally looks and feels like you.
**Bring your laptop. You won’t just listen—you’ll build.** **And by the end of the session, you’ll walk away with your identity.**

Disparador de escritura creativa. Martes
Taquilla inversa. Se paga según la satisfacción.

Writing Quick and Dirty
This meetup is for anyone—anyone at all—who enjoys playing around with words. You’ll be given a prompt (usually one word, such as “playground” or “shiver”) and time to express yourself in writing in response to it. Anything goes: prose, poetry, lists, letters, lyrics; any form which calls to you and demands expression.
After we have finished writing, you will be invited to share your piece with the group (totally optional, but the feedback can be fun).
The feedback (this is the only part with rules): Responses should be in the form of what stayed with you, what you remembered from the piece, what resonated with you. This is NOT a writing or craft class; there is no good or bad here. Critiques or suggestions miss the point. This is new, tender writing, and we honor it as such.
All writing is considered fictional. This is liberating for the writer, as you are free to write about literally anything and it will never be considered to be “about you.” The first person is always just a character.
Please bring your own writing equipment. It is helpful to come on time so you can hear the prompt and have enough time to write. Please buy a drink or snack from Charcha, our generous host.
Cozy Tuesday Book Club
**Welcome to the first meeting of our cozy book club!** 📚☕
The idea is simple: we’ll pick a book together, read it at our own pace until the next meeting, and discuss it when we meet again.
I created this club so we can discover new authors and genres together, connect with like-minded people, and enjoy a good cup of coffee, tea, or whatever drink you prefer.
Feel free to bring book suggestions — these can be specific titles, authors, or even themes such as *modern Japanese literature*. As a small book club, we’re open to variety.
If you don’t have a clear idea yet, don’t worry — I’ll come prepared with a list of suggestions.
**Note:** These meetings are free and will always be.
**About me**: I'm former Reuters journalist and creative storyteller. When I’m not reading or writing, I’m probably hiking somewhere. I moved to Barcelona from Gdańsk two years ago and would love to connect with fellow book lovers here.

Coffee Connections
A casual (but coordinated) coffee break to meet new friends, take a Zoom break, and get your AM caffeine fix.
Stop by for a few minutes or stay the whole time. Bring a friend or wander in solo. Come for the coffee and company, or just bring a book to read while surrounded by other in-real-life, community-seeking humans. Come by every Friday, or just when you happen to be in town. Make it whatever you need it to be that week. It's not an \*event\* per se, but we hope these Friday meet-ups can become a fixture of the bookshop!
Gathering spot will be in the downstairs area of the bookshop (near the Community Library). Coffee and tea are 1.50€ and can be purchased at the cash register upstairs. Find more info on our Instagram (@backstorybookshop) or website (www.backstorybookshop.com).

The main entrance of the shopping center opens onto stairs/elevator leading up to the 2nd floor cafe section where we will have a table displaying a sign with the Shut Up & Write logo.

May Book Club Meetup
Welcome, readers!
Our May read is **_Kindred_ by Octavia E. Butler.**
The story follows Dana, a Black woman living in 1976 California, who is suddenly pulled back to a Maryland plantation before the Civil War. She learns her survival is tied to a white slaveholder’s son. Forced to move between centuries, she must endure the brutal realities of slavery while fighting to hold on to her identity. Tense, intimate, and unforgettable, Kindred explores how the past refuses to stay buried.
Looking forward to discussing with everyone!
We will meet at Zaftig Brewing Co in their event room in the back. We are welcome to bring in our own food, but **drinks must be purchased at the bar.**
Happy reading! 📖
