The world is in crisis and many people think we've gone past the tipping point and the planet is doomed. However, there are those who have hope and faith in science that some can survive the polycrisis and get to live in a sustainable society and planet. But there's a problem... **There's no clear vision of what a sustainable society and planet should be**, and without that destination, how can we set out on the journey to get there? Please join like-minded people to discuss this. We'll agree an agenda at the start of the meeting. You don't have to have any stage experience - only the love (suppressed or expressed) of reading out loud; and an interest in joining a friendly group of drama buddies, over a drink and some fun, poignant, poetic, expressive and interactive thoughts, against the beautiful backdrop of the cosy and private downstairs at Megan's. I will select the play a few days before the meet-up, according to how many members we have, confirmed, making sure that everyone gets to take part. Copies of the play / script will be provided and there is no minimum spend, curtesy of Megan's - the proud and generous supporters of the local community activities. Many say that "dating your own race" or "racial/ethnic preference" are natural choices - but history shows how many countries tried to *stop* different races from mixing: from racial purity laws in the US and Nazi Germany, to Saudi Arabia's current ban on marrying foreigners, apartheid in South Africa, segregation and eugenics, and bans on marrying someone from a different religion. While mixing was common in ancient empires and trade routes, race is now a common "filter" in apps and dating advice. Is this really just a matter of personal taste, or is there an element of prejudice and politics? We'll discuss: 1\. Is racial preference really natural \- and why have countries tried to prohibit different races\, ethnicities and religions mixing? 2\. Do modern dating ideas on race/ethnicity/culture carry political goals\, e\.g\. racial purity\, cultural conformism\, etc? 3\.
