[Tech Talk] Judging the judge: Fixing conversational agent evaluation
[Tech Talk] Judging the judge: Fixing conversational agent evaluation
**Judging the judge: Fixing conversational agent evaluation** *with Akshay Anand, Tech Principal, Thoughtworks* Why do so many LLM and GenAI pilots stall before they ever hit production? The secret often lies in the evaluation process. In this talk, we will break down how to design evaluation frameworks that turn experimental systems into reliable, production-ready tools. We’ll explore why standard, off-the-shelf evaluation tools often fall short and how you can combine them with the right strategy to ship trustworthy outcomes. **What you’ll learn** * **What to evaluate**: Task quality, grounding/retrieval, safety, robustness, and cost/latency. * **How to evaluate**: Datasets + scenarios, rubrics/judges, metrics, and human review where it matters. * **Tooling Strategy**: When existing tools work and where you need customization. * **Operationalization**: How to operationalize evaluations for production readiness **About the speaker** **Akshay Anand** is a Tech Principal at Thoughtworks, where he leads high-value enterprise Data & AI platforms that deliver nationwide impact. He has architected various AI and GenAI solutions from strategy to production rollout and turning complex data into product ready capabilities. He is deeply passionate about trustworthy AI by design — systems that are secure, transparent, and responsible. **Agenda** 6:45 pm Registration and networking 7:00 pm Judging the Judge: Fixing Conversational Agent Evaluation by Akshay Anand 7:40 pm Q&A and networking **Event Details** 📅 Date: Wednesday, March 18, 2026 🕡 Time: 6:45 - 8:15pm 📍Venue: 18 Cross Street, #12-01 18 Cross, Singapore 048423 **🍕** Food and beverages will be provided **To join us, simply click "Attend" here on Meetup.** We hope to see you there!
Coffee & Cravings Social Drinks @ Spectre - $10 highballs for attendees
Coffee & Cravings Social Drinks @ Spectre - $10 highballs for attendees
**Looking to meet new people in Singapore or reconnect with the Coffee & Cravings community?** Join us for a relaxed evening of drinks, conversation, and making new connections. Whether you’ve been part of the group before, you’re new to Singapore, or you simply feel like joining a casual social evening, you’re very welcome. *** ## **Event Details** **Location:** Spectre **Day:** Tuesday **Time:** 7:00 PM onwards **Special for our group:** $10 highballs *** ## **About This Meetup** Coffee & Cravings has been around for more than a decade. In the past, the events were always simple — gather at a café or restaurant, share food or drinks, and meet people from all sorts of backgrounds. Over the years we’ve had members from retail, F&B, tech, finance, law, creative industries and entrepreneurship. Many people actually made lasting friendships and professional connections through these casual meetups. We haven’t organised as many events in recent years, and the Meetup landscape has changed quite a bit as well. Our subscription is also coming up for renewal in April, so before deciding what to do next, I thought it would be nice to bring the group together again and see if there’s still interest in keeping the community active. *** ## **The Venue** For this meetup we’ll be gathering at **Spectre**, a bar owned by a friend who has kindly offered the space for us to use as our meetup hangout. The bar is actually wrapping up its lease at the end of the month, so this is also a nice opportunity to enjoy the space before it disappears. It’s comfortable, can fit quite a number of people, and works well as a place to chat and meet new faces. The bar will be offering **$10 highballs for the group**, and you’re welcome to order other drinks from the regular menu if you prefer. Since the space won’t be around much longer, I’m hoping to host **a few Coffee & Cravings meetups there before it closes**, so hopefully this can also help kickstart the group again. *** If you’ve been part of the group before, it would be lovely to see you again. If you’re new, come by and say hello. And as a small side note — if anyone feels strongly about keeping the group going and would like to help support the Meetup subscription so we can continue organising events like this, feel free to reach out privately. ***

Cello Open Sharing Class (Free)
Cello Open Sharing Class (Free)
This open class is designed for complete beginners. We’ll take a gentle and relaxed approach to getting to know the cello — what it looks like, how it sounds, and why it has such a special place in music. During the session, we will: • Introduce the cello and its basic structure • Share a little about the history and character of the instrument • Listen to live demonstrations and short musical excerpts • Let participants get close to the cello and try it out This is not just a formal lesson, but an easygoing musical experience. Suitable for adults with no background, and families who are curious about introducing music to their children. No experience needed — just curiosity. HP86198739

Columbus Comedy Improv Meetup at Gresso's!
Columbus Comedy Improv Meetup at Gresso's!
Whether you've never done improv before, or you've done it for so long you knew Del Close on a personal level, or anywhere in between, come join us! Swing by *Gresso's* for the **Columbus Improv Comedy Meetup** for some fun and games! The idea behind improv is to create entire scenes from scratch based on a suggestion from the audience. This can be done in game form, like *Whose Line Is It Anyway*, *ComedySportz*, or *Wild 'n Out*; it could also be done to tell stories, like *Middleditch and Schwartz*. Our meetup, which is central Ohio's longest running (and free!) weekly comedy event, brings the games (and occasionally different forms) for you to play in a safe, supportive, and compassionate environment. Not only is it a lot of fun, but you get to work on thinking faster on your feet, plus it's an excellent way to meet new people and make friendships that'll last a lifetime! Ask yourself if you want to join the **Columbus Improv Comedy Meetup**, and say "Yes, And" that you'll have fun!
Speak Easy (Storytelling)
Speak Easy (Storytelling)
The topic for March is "Our Bodies, Ourselves" Speak Easy: true stories, told live. The idea is simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant- it's up to you. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast. Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human. And in a world of smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and more . . . it gives people a real, breathing, in-person way to connect. The night is geared for true stories of all kinds, taking the best tales told around kitchen tables, in darkened pubs, on the street corner, and at late-night parties and giving them an audience. Speak Easy is also a great outlet for performers, writers, and artists looking to share their favorite stories and perfect their skills. We strongly encourage tellers to please tell the story rather than read it so we keep within the spirit of good storytelling and stay engaged with the audience. All are welcome. Hang around after the show for a drink and build community!

The Unix philosophy emphasizes simplicity, modularity, and the idea that programs should do one thing well and work together. However, CLI programs are primarily used by humans. Programs that you actually enjoy using can achieve both of these aims of composability and human-centeredness. This talk explores what makes CLIs great: fast, trusted, and delightful. Through real-world examples from modern tools like uv, cargo, ripgrep, and GitHub CLI, you'll learn the design patterns that separate good CLIs from great ones. Whether you're building package managers, creating developer tools, or just curious why modern CLIs feel so much better, you'll leave with a practical checklist of techniques to apply to any CLI tool you build. **Agenda:** 7:00pm - Opening announcements 7:10pm - Opening Topic - Build an AI-powered, Sassy Speaking Plant 7:25pm - Main Topic - Designing Delightful CLIs with Python 7:50pm - Q&A
