Hello everyone! if you're here, that means you're interested in a book club for Latin Americans and honestly anyone who want to read Spanish translations of modern classics (think 1984, The Catcher in the Rye, or To Kill a Mockingbird) as a way build vocabulary and confidence. For the first book club, I'd like us all to just introduce each other and have a chill, no-stress chat to get a feel for the group. We willl be located a bar so grab a beer if you feel so inclined! The first book we'll be discussing is Las batallas en el desierto. This is a classic coming-of-age story set in 1940s Mexico City and is told from the perspective of Carlos, a young boy who experiences the loss of innocence through an intense love for his best friend's mother.
