With **Hanno Embregts** and **Bertrand Foffe** we have two awesome speakers who will share their knowledge!
**Timetable:**
17:00 Doors open

18:50 Introduction
19:00 Will Git Be Around Forever? A List of Possible Successors by Hanno Embregts
19:45 Break
20:00 DDD & Java Microservices in Agritech – The Jangolo Story by Bertrand Foffe
20:45 Drinks
**Will Git Be Around Forever? A List of Possible Successors**
In the early 2010s, only early adopters used Git. The majority used Subversion. Ten years later, almost everyone uses Git. So what will we use another ten years from now? And what features would we need? I’ll discuss a few post-Git products, their features and I’ll predict whether Git will remain in the top spot or not.
**About Hanno**
Hanno Embregts is a Java Developer with a passion for learning, teaching and making music.
In his day-to-day job as a Teacher / Technology Advocate at [Info Support](https://www.infosupport.com), Hanno prefers work that is fast-paced and versatile. This is why he juggles Java development, software architecture, public speaking, leading Info Support’s Speaker Community and teaching courses at Info Support’s Knowledge Centre.
Hanno is a [Java Champion](https://javachampions.org/members.html), an [Oracle ACE Pro](https://ace.oracle.com/pls/apex/r/ace_program/oracle-aces/ace?ace_id=2413) and [one of the leaders](https://nljug.org/bestuur/) of the NLJUG (the Dutch Java User Group). Outside of work Hanno likes making music with his friends. He plays the flute, the guitar and he likes to sing.
Software conferences are Hanno’s favourite thing in the world, because they allow him to do the three things he loves most at the same time: learning new things, teaching others about stuff he discovered and yes: [even making music](https://hanno.codes/talks/#what-stairway-to-heaven-can-teach-us-about-software-development) from time to time!
**DDD & Java Microservices in Agritech – The Jangolo Story**
Microservices are often presented as a silver bullet but in complex domains, they can quickly become a source of chaos if business boundaries are unclear.
In this talk, Bertrand Foffe shares the real-world journey of building Jangolo, a large-scale agritech platform operating in Cameroon, where over 200,000 users interact daily mostly through WhatsApp to buy, sell, and manage agricultural products.
Using Domain-Driven Design (DDD) as a strategic tool rather than a theoretical concept, the talk explores how complex agribusiness domains were decomposed into bounded contexts and Java microservices. Through concrete case studies such as product modeling across domains, transversal roles like field ambassadors, and identifying the true core domain (marketplace) Bertrand illustrates common myths, hard lessons, and practical trade-offs.
Attendees will learn:
* How to align microservices with real business domains
* Why “bounded context = microservice” is harder than it sounds
* How to avoid over-engineering in Java architectures
* How DDD helps tame complexity in fast-growing systems
This session is ideal for developers and architects looking for pragmatic DDD and microservices insights, grounded in production experience rather than theory.
**About Bertrand**
Bertrand Foffe is a software engineer and entrepreneur with over 15 years of experience in IT consulting and Java-based systems. Originally from Cameroon and based in the Netherlands, he combines deep technical expertise in Java, microservices, and Domain-Driven Design with real-world product building.
Bertrand is the founder of Jangolo, an agritech platform serving more than 200,000 users in Cameroon, connecting farmers, distributors, agro-industrials, and consumers across the agricultural value chain. Through Jangolo, he has designed and operated a large-scale microservices architecture driven by business domains rather than technology hype.
Passionate about turning complex domains into scalable systems, Bertrand enjoys sharing practical lessons learned from building software where business constraints, data volatility, and real human impact meet.

LCU Meeting #798
Hi all! 🙂
On Wednesdays we welcome you to practice languages!
If you want to practice a specific (uncommon) language, please send us a message so we can find some conversation partners for you on our mailing list!
We hope to see you in Café Marktzicht!
In the last year we had tables for the following languages:
* Dutch
* English
* French
* Italian
* Spanish
* Turkish\*
* German\*
* Portuguese\*
* Danish\*
* Norwegian\*
* Russian\*
* Arabic\*
* Chinese\*\*
* Japanese\*\*
* Indonesian\*\*
*
* Most likely, but not every week present.
\*\* - Rather rare ;-)
If your language is not in this list, please let us know! We have a large database of Language Cafe visitors speaking 56 different languages! We might be able to connect you with a person that does speak the language you want to practice.
In case you are not in our database yet, please use this form: http://goo.gl/forms/oSCn9Dn8m8
Dream Team Group Experiment
Join this fruitful "Success Team" as the spring arrives!
We gather in a pleasant space at Rosa Buurtcentrum (2nd floor–eerste verdieping–right hand, last door; there is a lift). There will be tea and you are welcome (but not required) to bring snacks. We'd love to welcome you.
\*\*\*
Help wanted & help offered. Bi-weekly meetings (every two weeks). Language English/Dutch.
This idea is inspired by Barbara Sher's story and experiences. Please see her Ted Talk titled "Isolation is the dream-killer, not your attitude".
The idea in short: One person at a time tells the group his/her dream or aim and the obstacles they face to achieve it.
It could be a trip, an experience, a change of career, an undertaking of some kind, learning a skill, solving a particular problem or even finding out what you really want.
The group works to realise the person's aim. Not just theoretically, also practically. For this we use our experience and networks.
—Nothing as satisfying as helping another! Perhaps suitable, Gabor Mate's words: "You never heal alone."
Please contact me at galatv@protonmail.com if you have questions or would like to help me to organise these gatherings.
Thank you!

Improv Theatre Drop in Lesson with Steven Morgan
Come play improv theatre in English and kick off your Friday evening with laughter, creativity and new people. This [drop-in workshop](https://www.improvutrecht.nl/drop-in-workshops/) is open to everyone, whether you are trying improv for the very first time or you have played before and want to stay sharp.
You do not need acting experience and you do not need perfect English. Many people join us for the first time each week, alongside regular players who keep coming back. The atmosphere is open, playful and supportive, with a real focus on having fun together.
During the session you can expect:
* Meeting internationals and Dutch players who enjoy playing in English
* Fun and accessible improv games inspired by shows like Whose Line Is It Anyway and De Lama’s
* Clear introductions to improv principles like listening, accepting ideas and playing together
* Plenty of laughter and a few moments where you surprise yourself
* A relaxed, social vibe rather than anything competitive or performative

The workshop works on a Pay What You Thought It Was Worth basis. Suggested donation is €10 to €20, but you are always welcome regardless of what you can pay. Contributions help cover the room and the professional trainer giving up their Friday evening.
**About the teacher this week**
This session is taught by [Steven Morgan](https://stevenmorgan.wales). Steven is a British comedian, improviser and teacher with a long international track record both on stage and in the classroom.
He was the Head of Teaching at easylaughs in Amsterdam and was cast member of Impro Amsterdam for two years running. He previously organised the Bris Funny Fest in Australia, producing over one hundred comedy shows, and has performed stand up comedy in numerous countries and festivals including the Utrecht International Comedy Festival.
Steven has also run corporate workshops for organisations such as Nike, Zoom and the Red Cross, and was one half of the improv duo Tru2U with Rogier Bak. His teaching style is playful, clear and confidence building, with a strong focus on connection, generosity on stage and enjoying the moment rather than trying to be funny.
Whether you come to learn, to meet people, or just to have a joyful Friday evening, you are very welcome.
[PHYSICAL] Coffee, Code and Chat
Let us meet, have a coffee and code together, or just discuss :)!

Join us and chat, ask your questions, or work on your own projects. The choice is yours! There is no agenda, this is simply a gathering of interested folks :).
We're meeting at Lebkov right inside the Utrecht Centraal station. We're typically sitting at the large table. Search for the folks with the laptops in the back!

From Web Forms to Web Components - Burton Smith
**Important time note:** Please plan on arriving between 5:30 and 6:00 as the elevators lock after 6 and you'll need to message us and we'll need to come get you.
The building address is 4450 Bridge Park
The entrance is 6620 Mooney St, Suite 400
**Abstract**
Web Forms gave .NET developers a powerful abstraction for building reusable UI controls long before design systems were a thing. Web Components finally bring that same idea to the browser natively.
This session explores how the Web Forms mindset translates into Custom Elements, Shadow DOM, and HTML templates. We’ll examine how Web Components enable design systems that work across frameworks, how they differ from server‑driven controls, and why they’re becoming a foundational layer for modern UI. Whether you’re maintaining legacy apps or building greenfield projects, you’ll leave with a practical understanding of how to apply familiar patterns in a modern, standards‑based way.

There’s no strict agenda this time — just developers getting together to talk shop, share projects, and exchange ideas.
**Some topics that may come up (based on attendee interest):**
• Frame Debugger & performance tooling
• Addressables & additive scene workflows
• Input System, localization, responsive UI
• AI integration approaches
• DevOps & LiveOps experiences
• Full lifecycle: idea → cross-platform publishing
• Favorite Asset Store tools and hidden gems
• Weird Unity quirks we’ve all run into
*Nothing is locked in.*
Bring a project if you’d like.
Bring a question.
Bring a lesson learned.
Or just come hang out and meet other developers.
All skill levels welcome!
ServiceNow's Got Talent
Builders, creators, architects, admins, consultants - come one, come all. This one's for you.
We're bringing a little friendly competition to the Columbus ServiceNow community while highlighting the cool things people have built on the platform.
Five presenters will take the stage to showcase something they've built, solved, designed, or imagined on the ServiceNow platform - and a panel of judges (plus YOU, our amazing audience) will score them live.
So basically, America's Got Talent but make it ServiceNow's Got Talent.
Bring a notepad if you'd like 'cause you'll definitely be learning something new.
Each presenter gets 10 minutes max to wow the crowd with:
• A demo
• A real-world business solution
• A bold idea
• A UX transformation
• Or a creative use of the platform
Judging Criteria:
🏆 Business Value
🚀 Innovation
✨ User Experience
This event is about celebrating ideas, sharing knowledge, and showing how ServiceNow can drive both business impact and meaningful user value.
Come learn. Come support. Come get inspired.
Refreshments and bites will be provided.
And maybe next time… you’ll be on stage.
