Dublin Debaters - Would the island of Ireland benefit from unification?
Dublin Debaters - Would the island of Ireland benefit from unification?
Join us for an evening of lively discussion and sharp argument as two teams of four speakers go head-to-head to debate one of the most pressing questions in Ireland today: Irish unity. Would the island of Ireland benefit from unification? Expect passionate speeches, clever rebuttals, and fresh perspectives on a question that has shaped our history for over 100 years. Before the main debate, we’ll warm up with Table Topics, where participants are invited to speak spontaneously on a wide range of issues. It’s a fun, supportive way to test your quick thinking and sharpen your public speaking skills. Dublin Debaters isn’t just a club it’s a community dedicated to the art of communication. Whether you’re a seasoned orator or someone who feels a wave of nerves at the mere sight of a microphone, you’ll find a welcoming space here. Whether you’re an experienced debater or simply curious about the issues shaping our national identity, this is an event not to be missed. Attendance is €3 payable on the night

Dublin Independent Movie Lovers: No Other Choice & The Element of Crime
Hi, all Independent Movie Lovers. You are invited meet at 7 pm, on Friday the 6th of February. This meeting is at the Café on the ground floor of the Light House Cinema, Smithfield Square, Dublin. We will discuss the film: **No Other Choice** (2025), directed by Park Chan-wook, a Korean director, known for Oldboy (2003). We will also discuss: **The Element of Crime** (1984), directed by Lars von Trier. The original Danish title is '*Forbrydelsens Element'.* This is the first movie in Lars von Trier's Europa trilogy. We will watch the movies independently, and meet for discussion on Friday the 6th of February, at 7 pm, at the Café on the ground floor of the Light House Cinema, Smithfield Square. **No Other Choice** is showing at most Dublin cinemas, until Thursday the 29th of January. **The Element of Crime** (1984), is available for online rental on YouTube and Prime Video. Both YouTube and Prime give the date of this movie as 2023, but I believe both are referring to the 1984 movie by Lars von Trier that we intend to watch. Check the director. Michael Sheeran

Azure CBUS February: Build Your Own MCP Server
Azure CBUS February: Build Your Own MCP Server
### Tools in your AI's Toolbox : An introduction to MCP Servers The generative AI revolution has unlocked unprecedented capabilities, but the next frontier is agency: empowering models to interact with, query, and act upon the world. The current challenge is the “N x M integration problem,” where every AI model requires a custom, brittle integration for each external tool or data source. This approach simply doesn’t scale. How can we give an AI access to our sales leads, code repositories, or IoT devices in a standardized, secure, and reusable way? This session introduces Anthropic’s Model Context Protocol (MCP), the open-source framework designed to solve this challenge and become the universal connector—the USB-C port—for AI. MCP standardizes how AI models discover and use external tools, moving beyond simple function-calling to a robust, client-server architecture. We will dive into how this open protocol is creating a new ecosystem for building powerful, context-aware AI agents. Join this session for a developer-focused introduction where you will learn how to: Understand the core concepts of the open-source Model Context Protocol and its architecture. Utilize pre-built, open-source MCP servers to instantly connect AI to tools like Git, Slack, and databases. Build a custom MCP server to securely expose your own proprietary data and APIs as tools for any compliant AI. Move beyond bespoke integrations and contribute to a standardized, collaborative, and open ecosystem. Stop building one-off connectors and start building intelligent agents. This session will give you the practical knowledge to leverage MCP and create the next generation of AI that doesn’t just talk, but does. Want to be a speaker? submit your talk to our Call for Presenters!!! [https://sessionize.com/azure-cbus-2026/](https://sessionize.com/azure-cbus-2026/)
