Join us for a fun night of speed dating in North York, followed by board games!
Calling all North York singles!
Join us for a fun and social evening of speed dating! Other speed dating events may get you 6-7 dates, but at 15 First Dates you'll be meeting up to 15 people!
Not only that, we are holding this event at the beautiful Twilight Cafe, so your ticket includes 2 hours of board games play after speed dating ends.
How speed dating works is that you will meet members of the opposite sex for quick dates, and then you will give them a yes or a no. They will then do the same thing for you. If there is a mutual match, contact information will be exchanged the next day.
We will give you all needed materials, and explain the process to you once everyone has arrived. You don't need to bring anything, just come dressed for success!
**This event is for people aged 30-40.** See you there!

Survivalist Series: Introduction to Cold Exposure
**Please note the only way to register for this adventure is on [our website.](https://www.wildernessunion.com/adventures/intro-cold-exposure)**
**Learning how to embrace the cold and manage its risks is key to enjoying the Canadian outdoors all year ‘round.**
In this adventure, we will combine hiking in a rugged winter landscape with skill-building challenges, teaching you how to thrive in cold conditions. You will learn:
* How to dress and act to stay warm and healthy during outdoor activities in cold conditions
* The basics of preventing, recognizing, and responding to hypothermia and frostbite
* How to recognize hazardous ice and snow, and what to do in case of accidental immersion in frozen water
* Optionally (and weather/conditions permitting), you could take on the challenge of a real cold plunge in a frozen lake, with expert guidance and safety planning.
This course is led by Sarah, our amazing guide and medical doctor who has experience as a first responder in remote environments and expertise in simulation-based teaching of emergency skills.
**Interested in joining this year’s Epics? Completing this and other relevant courses will support your approval process for advanced adventures.**
**Included:** Essential cold-weather items to add to your personal first aid kit, including a hypothermia blanket and ‘Cold Card’.
**Who It’s For**: Anyone who wants to spend time outdoors with confidence in all four seasons! No previous first aid experience is required. For those with prior wilderness first aid training, or other healthcare experience, this workshop is an opportunity to gain valuable extra repetitions honing your skills in a realistic outdoor environment.
**About this series:** The Survivalist Series is an expert-led set of courses designed to develop applicable and life-saving skills in the outdoors. Keep your eyes peeled for more courses on many other topics as they become available.

**About Wilderness Union**
Wilderness Union is deliberate about building an outdoors community that connects you to the life-changing magic of the outdoors and helps you find your people.
Members range from 20-40 years old. The group is a mix of GTA locals and newcomers to Toronto from within Canada and abroad.
Attendance numbers on Meetup don't reflect our actual event attendance - we typically have 15-20 community members at each event. Large enough that there's someone new to meet but small enough that it's not overwhelming!

🌿🚶 LEASIDE SPUR TRAIL, WILKET CREEK & EDWARDS GARDENS WALK (10KM) 🚶🌿
🌿🚶 LEASIDE SPUR TRAIL, WILKET CREEK & EDWARDS GARDENS WALK (10KM) 🚶🌿
Forest Trails, Flowing Creeks & A Spring Garden Pause
Some of the best parts of Toronto don’t feel like the city at all.
Join us for a longer, energizing social walk through some of the city’s most scenic green spaces — from quiet trails to winding creeks, with a beautiful stop at the gardens along the way.
We’ll explore the Leaside Spur Trail, connect into the peaceful paths of Wilket Creek Park, and make our way toward Edwards Gardens — where you’ll have time to wander, take in the seasonal blooms, and enjoy a little moment of calm in the middle of the walk.
This is not a formal tour.
It’s a social, active walk with great scenery and even better company.

🚶♂️ What We’ll Do
We’ll begin at McDonald’s and head onto the Leaside Spur Trail, easing into the walk before connecting with Wilket Creek’s forested paths.
From there, we’ll continue toward Sunnybrook Park and into Edwards Gardens, where we’ll take a relaxed break so you can explore, enjoy the flowers, and recharge.
After our stop, we’ll loop back along the trails, returning to our starting point.
Once we’re back, those who want can grab a bite at Jersey Mike's Subs for a well-earned lunch. 🥪
No pressure to join — totally optional.
\*\*\*
🌦️ Weather & Expectations
This walk will happen in typical Toronto conditions — including cold, light rian, or damp trails.
Please come prepared for a full 10KM walk with some hills.
Good footwear is essential.
.
Also — this is NOT a guided or historical tour. I’ll share bits along the way, but the focus is on movement, nature, and connection.
