We're playing board games at Your Hobby Place, a Friendly Local Gaming Store in Old Town Alexandria. Feel free to bring your own games. They also have their own library of games available for play. We start at 6:00, but your group can certainly show up earlier. The store closes at 9:30. Snacks and drinks are available for sale, and several good restaurants are nearby. Free parking on Wythe St. and Columbus St. The store is 1/2 mile east from the Braddock Road Metro station down Wythe St.

The pickleball courts are situated on the far side of the playground, past the swing sets and picnic area. These courts (are] strictly on a first-come, first-served basis, and we do not offer reservation for public use. The courts are frequently unoccupied, but sometimes few people utilize the courts. Starting Play: Each point begins with both teams lining up on the front of opposite end zone lines. The defense throws ("pulls") the disc to the offense. 2. Scoring: Each time the offense catches a pass in the defense's end zone, the offense scores a point. The teams switch direction after every goal, and the next point begins with a new pull by the team that just scored. 3. Movement of the Disc: The disc may be advanced in any direction by completing a pass to a teammate. Players may not run with the disc. The person with the disc ("thrower") has ten seconds to throw the disc. The defender guarding the thrower ("marker") counts out the stall count. 4. Change of Possession: When a pass is not completed (e.g. out of bounds, drop, block, interception, stalled), the defense immediately takes possession of the disc and becomes the offense. 5. Substitutions: Players not in the game may replace players in the game after a score and during an injury timeout. (Modified depending on the number of the attendees) 6. Non-contact: Players must attempt to avoid physical contact during play. Picks and screens are also prohibited. 7. Fouls: When a player initiates contact that affects the play, a foul occurs. When a foul causes a player to lose possession, the play resumes as if the possession was retained. If the player that the foul was called against disagrees with the foul call, the play is redone. 8. Self-Officiating: Players are responsible for their own foul and line calls. The host will also step in if it is needed. Looking for competitive sand volleyball with solid rallies, smart plays, and good energy? Join us for 4-on-4 BB/A level games on the sand! This meetup is geared toward intermediate to advanced players who can consistently serve, pass, set, attack, and communicate on the court. Cost is $14 per person ### BB Level Players Typically Can: * Consistently serve overhand with control and placement * Pass accurately to target most of the time * Set reliably in-system * Attack with controlled hits, shots, and placement * Understand offensive and defensive positioning * Communicate effectively on the court * Sustain competitive rallies and transition play ### A Level Players Typically Can: * Play at a fast, competitive pace * Hit aggressively with good control and shot selection * Read hitters and defensive schemes * Serve tough and strategically * Execute advanced sand concepts like shot coverage, blocking assignments, and tempo offense * Maintain consistency under pressure ### This Meetup May Not Be the Best Fit If: * You are still learning basic skills or rotations * You struggle with consistent serving or passing * You are new to sand volleyball * You prefer casual/recreational play

We will be playing Moon Colony Bloodbath with up to 8 players. All experience levels welcome. Expect the game teach to start promptly within the first 10 minutes. In Moon Colony Bloodbath players develop cities on the moon! Moon Colony Bloodbath is an engine-building, engine-losing tableau game, with a shared deck the players build that makes things happen, many of them bad things that kill people in your moon colony, but some positive, and some that let you build up. The game lasts until one player's moon colony has no people remaining, or until the players reach the bottom of the event deck. At that point, the player with the most survivors wins.
