Dublin Dataviz: Andy Kirk - The 7 Hats of Data Visualisation (Revisited!)
Dublin Dataviz: Andy Kirk - The 7 Hats of Data Visualisation (Revisited!)
Dublin Dataviz is delighted to welcome Andy Kirk as our first speaker of 2026! Andy is the founder of [Visualising Data](https://visualisingdata.com/) and works with [clients around the world](https://visualisingdata.com/clients) as a data visualisation design consultant and prolific [trainer](https://www.visualisingdata.com/training/). He is a a four-times published [author](https://www.visualisingdata.com/book/) and host of the ‘[Explore Explain](https://www.visualisingdata.com/podcast/)’ video and podcast series. In his talk, **The 7 Hats of Data Visualisation (Revisited!),** Andy will showcase the value and richness of data visualisation as a key literacy in this contemporary digital age. We all have a stake in this, whether that is through our roles as creators, consumers or coordinators, but it can appear to be a substantial challenge to fully embrace the multi-disciplinarity of this subject, whether as individuals or more generally across organisations. Framed as the ‘7 hats’ of data visualisation, Andy will look back over his 15+ years of experience developing an expertise in this subject to present his view of the major competency ‘ingredients' that make up the all-round talent recipe of a visualiser today. He will differentiate the knowledge required from skills necessary to demonstrate, the attitudinal maturity from the technical intelligence. He will also advise on some of the strategies that will help you continue to develop and refine your data visualisation literacy. Join us for what's going to be an amazing evening, with pints in Arthurs pub surely to follow.

Tour of Stormont Parilament Building Belfast
Tour of Stormont Parilament Building Belfast
**Cost TOUR: FREE:** **Lunch 29.50 STERLING - you pay for your own lunch at the restaurant.** Come and join us on a trip to Belfast for a tour of the Stormont Parliament buildings. Stormont's dazzling white neoclassical facade is one of Belfast's most iconic, occupying a dramatic position at the end of a gently rising 1.5km avenue. Since 1998 it has been the home of the Northern Ireland Assembly. Free guided tours meet in the elaborate Great Hall, which is made entirely of Italian marble and adorned with five chandeliers; you'll also see the Assembly and Senate Chambers and the Committee Room. From its completion in 1932 until the introduction of direct rule in 1972, Stormont was the seat of the parliament of Northern Ireland. Following the Good Friday Agreement of 1998 it became home to Northern Ireland's devolved legislative body. However, in 2017 the power-sharing agreement collapsed over the Renewable Heat Incentive scandal, and the assembly lay dormant. At research time, politicians had yet to return to Stormont. The building is fronted by a defiant statue of the arch-Unionist **Sir Edward Carson**. Nearby, 19th-century Stormont Castle, like Hillsborough in County Down, is an official residence of the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland. **DETAILS:** **08:20** Meet in O'Briens on Connolly station **08:30** Board the he Enterprise train for Belfast **10:58** Train arrives in Grand Central Station, Belfast We then have a 15 minute walk to Donegal Square North where we catch a bus to Stormont 22 mimutes. **12.00** Tour begins **13.00** tour ends Lunch booked in the Members Dining Room **cost £29.50 STERLING PAY BY CARD ONLY.** **Cash NOT ACCEPTED** **16;00 train back to Dublin arriving at 18:13** **You can tap your bank card to pay for the bus or use sterling cash.** **Only press attend** if you **KNOW you are free to come** and really want to come.

Na Siúlóirí Culture: Trip to An Góilín Traditional Singers' Club
Na Siúlóirí Culture: Trip to An Góilín Traditional Singers' Club
Although little known, this is one of the cultural gems of modern Dublin. An Góilín means an inlet and implies a quiet refuge from storm or noise (similar to 'Cuan'), and of course it's the name of the west Cork village known in English as Goleen. There are no instruments or microphone, just 'a capella' singing. Everybody will be asked if they'd like to sing. Songs are traditional/historic and sung in Irish or English, and often in both (macaronic songs). The club motto is 'We have no standard in singing, just in listening. _Fáilte is fiche roimh chách._

Columbus: A Study In Psalms--Psalm 3 and 4
Columbus: A Study In Psalms--Psalm 3 and 4
Most people would agree that a great night's sleep is one of the sweetest experiences in life. Crawling into a wonderfully comfortable bed, drifting off to peaceful slumber, and awaking, feeling refreshed, energized, and ready for the day is a gift everyone welcomes. Unfortunately, nights of perfect sleep and restfulness can seem scarce. Particularly, during the truly hard times in life, good sleep can seem an impossibility. The ancient shepherd-crowned-king, David, knew more than the average person about the challenge of getting a good night's sleep in the midst of being falsely maligned, hunted by enemies, and attacked by those who wanted him dead. He understood the terror of running for his life, and having thousands call for his death. What was his answer? Where could a man on the run find peace? What hope was there for a person in such circumstances? David's hope and peace were found in the One Who he knew was Perfect Truth, Justice, Mercy, and Grace, the God Who had delivered His people before and Who would do so again, and again, and again. Because of God's provision David twice details that even in the midst of his enemies, he would "lie down and sleep, and wake again." Psalm 3 and 4 point us to the hope in which those who follow after the Lord can be confident--that from the Lord comes deliverance. Join us at **6:30 pm, Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at True Food Kitchen, Easton Town Center**, and be encouraged from God's Word!
