RESCHEDULED** Whitney Museum Photo Shoot (Sunday, February 22, 2026, 11:00 am)
**RESCHEDULED:** Due to the inclement weather forecast for Sunday with **wind chills -20** with a high risk of frostbite, we have decided that it's best to reschedule. Unfortunately, the tickets for this Sunday are not transferable so you'll have to get tickets for that date. The link is below.
**Ticket Link:** [Whitney Museum of American Art ticketing | GENERAL ADMISSION](https://transact.whitney.org/general-admission?date=2-22-2026)
The Whitney works very well as a winter photo venue, especially for graphic architecture and environmental portraits on the terraces. The building sits between the High Line and the Hudson River and features stacked steel volumes, external stairs, and multiple outdoor terraces with views downtown and along the river, giving you strong lines, layers, and sky in almost every direction.
**PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES**
**Theme Challenge:** Practice **architectural and urban environmental portraits.**
Use terraces, railings, and stairs as leading lines, placing subjects along the edges or in corners of the frame to emphasize scale and geometry.
Explore **backlit and silhouette work** on the terraces, exposing for the sky to create graphic outlines of people against the Hudson and Meatpacking skyline, or use reflections in glass doors for layered compositions.

The Far-West Uptown Photo Walk
**Our next Meetup is an uptown meetup in the Hamilton Heights, West Harlem and Manhattanville neighborhoods.**
***Date and Time. Saturday February 21st at 2:30 pm***
***Meeting place Montefiore Square at 138th and Broadway***
*Nearest subway station; the 1 train > “137th street - City College”*
*Four blocks away, the A train > 135th Street at St. Nicholas Avenue*
As we explore this new area, we will walk down 138th Street to Riverside Drive, and then to 12th Avenue where we will walk a good distance under the 12th Avenue Viaduct in an interesting and quite photogenic industrial type area.
Eventually we will emerge again, passing the famous but now defunct “Cotton Club,” and climb a few steps to Riverside Park, with Grant’s Tomb and Riverside Church right there posing for us.
We will leave this area via 122nd Street and attempt to photograph subways trains heading down the open tracks and vanishing into the tunnel beneath us at 122nd & Broadway.
We can attempt to find a bite to eat and refreshment as we get to 125th Street close to a 1 train Station.
Don't forget your charged batteries and empty memory cards.
Tripods are not needed on this photo walk. All-purpose zoom lenses are suggested but any and all cameras are welcome as are all users from novice to expert.
Please be on time! The NYC Subway System is a hellscape of unimaginable delays that will wreak havoc on your mind, body, schedule, and soul. Plan your trip with some extra time!
