Sketching in Pinetum Blijdenstein
Sketching in Pinetum Blijdenstein
📍 AH to go, inside of the Hilversum Station, 10:30 → Pinetum → back by ~15:00 🚶‍♂️ Short walk (~20–30 min each way) 🎯 Main location: Pinetum Blijdenstein (€4 entry) This time we’re keeping it shorter and focusing on one beautiful spot: the Pinetum — a small botanical garden dedicated to pine trees, full of interesting shapes, textures, and quiet corners to sketch. We’ll meet at Hilversum Station at 10:30, walk together to the garden (arriving around 11:00), and spend about 2-2,5 hours sketching. There are some benches, but not many — please bring a foldable chair or something you can sit on, if possible. Around 14:00, we’ll head back toward the station. If people feel like it, we can grab drinks and maybe lunch at Mout before wrapping up around 15:00. Bring: Sketching materials Water Foldable chair No pressure on skill level — quick sketches, detailed studies, or just experimenting are all welcome. Come for the trees, stay for the sketches 🌲✏️

Discussion Group - Europe 2031
**Europe 2031: A Scenario, and the News That's Catching Up to It** This session will discuss *Europe 2031: What getting AI wrong means for us*. A recent scenario-narrative imagines, through two fictional Europeans, how the continent could lose the ability to shape its own future by mishandling the AI transition. Just days after the document was published on 11 June 2026, Anthropic, in compliance with recent US national security directives asking to restrict access to its most advanced models to US citizens only, suspended services for Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all users. We'll use the story as a starting point and discuss the policies the EU is applying and the concept of AI sovereignty, and the potential consequences of this new race. We are going to use Draghi's report's competitiveness diagnosis as the policy backdrop and the current stance of the EU regarding its AI sovereignty. Address: Utrecht Drift 27, Room 0.72 Documents: 1) [https://europe2031.ai/](https://europe2031.ai/?utm_source=luma) 2) [https://commission.europa.eu/topics/competitiveness/draghi-report_en](https://commission.europa.eu/topics/competitiveness/draghi-report_en?utm_source=luma) 3) [https://digital-strategy.ec.europa.eu/en/policies/cloud-and-ai-development-act](https://digital-strategy.ec.europa.eu/en/policies/cloud-and-ai-development-act?utm_source=luma)

Brick Lane by Monica Ali
Brick Lane by Monica Ali
After an arranged marriage to Chanu, a man twenty years older, Nazneen is taken to London, leaving her home and heart in the Bangladeshi village where she was born. Her new world is full of mysteries. How can she cross the road without being hit by a car (an operation akin to dodging raindrops in the monsoon)? What is the secret of her bullying neighbour Mrs Islam? What is a Hell's Angel? And how must she comfort the naive and disillusioned Chanu? As a good Muslim girl, Nazneen struggles to not question why things happen. She submits, as she must, to Fate and devotes herself to her husband and daughters. Yet to her amazement, she begins an affair with a handsome young radical, and her erotic awakening throws her old certainties into chaos. Monica Ali's splendid novel is about journeys both external and internal, where the marvelous and the terrifying spiral together.

Extensions allow developers to customize the editor with new features, integrations, and workflow improvements tailored to their needs. In this session, we’ll cover what extensions are and the different types available, including full extensions written in TypeScript or JavaScript, along with lighter-weight extensions such as color themes, language packs, language support, code snippets, and keymaps. We’ll also look at practical reasons a developer might create an extension, from automating repetitive tasks to adding custom tooling. The session includes a hands-on walkthrough of creating a new extension, testing it locally, and understanding the basic project structure. We’ll close with a brief overview of how extensions are packaged and published to the Visual Studio Marketplace and other distribution options. **YouTube Link** TBD

AI Agents 101: How to Make ChatGPT Do Actual Work
AI Agents 101: How to Make ChatGPT Do Actual Work
Most people still use AI like a search box: type one question, get one answer, repeat. But the next step is AI agents: systems that can take a goal, break it into steps, use tools, remember context, and produce useful work for a human to review. In this beginner-friendly session, we’ll demystify what AI agents actually are — without hype or jargon. We’ll walk through practical examples of how agents can help with research, planning, writing, coding, operations, and personal productivity. We’ll cover: * What makes an AI “agent” instead of just a chatbot * How agents break tasks into steps * Where agents are genuinely useful today * Where they fail, hallucinate, or need human review * How to design simple AI workflows for your own work * A live demo of an AI agent-style workflow from start to finish No coding experience required. This is for anyone who wants to understand where AI tools are going and how to use them more effectively right now. LOGISTICS AND PARKING: The talk starts at 7:00 PM. The first half hour is reserved for everyone to get set up and mingle. Free pizza and drinks! The cheapest parking option is to find street parking, which will only cost you a few bucks. Otherwise, park in the nearby veteran's museum lot for $8. It's highly recommended you avoid the nearby $15 garage parking.
