The training consists of the continuous repetition of fixed sequences of movements (kata) and includes the use of classic Japanese weapons such as the sword (iai-jutsu, battō-jutsu, ken-jutsu, ryōtō-jutsu, kodachi-jutsu), the long staff (bō-jutsu), the lance (naginata-jutsu) and the spear (sō-jutsu), as well as unarmed disciplines, tactics and spiritual aspects. **The Katori Berlin dojo** is the only official shibu of Otake Nobutoshi-shihan’s dojo Shinbukan in Germany and fully dedicated to the transmission and study of one martial tradition: Tenshinshō-den Katori Shintō-ryū. Through these efforts we aim to contribute to the cultural preservation of this martial tradition. The dojo has one officially appointed shidosha. **Our sensei**: Sebastian Graetz has been active in martial arts since 1997. After almost 15 years of taekwondo in Berlin, he started with Katori Shintō-ryū in Asia in 2014. Since then, he has studied in Japan with Ōtake Risuke-shihan and Ōtake Nobutoshi-shihan, and in Vietnam with Malte Stokhof-shihandai. Join our **CATAN** Meetup to play, socialize, and enjoy this classic board game. Everyone is welcome, whether you’re a beginner or an experienced player. Expect fun, friendly games, plenty of laughter, and the chance to make new friends. This is a relaxed, casual meetup: **no hardcore competition**, just friendly rivalry. **Please RSVP only if you plan to attend.** *** **How to Play (Quick Guide):** * **Setup:** Build the island with hex tiles, place number tokens, roads, settlements, and give each player starting resources. * **Turn order:** On your turn, roll two dice to produce resources, then trade and build. * **Resource production:** Players gain resources (wood, brick, sheep, wheat, ore) from tiles next to their settlements/cities when the tile’s number is rolled. * **Robber:** If a 7 is rolled, players with too many cards discard half; move the robber to block a tile and steal a card. *NOTE: Friendly robber rule: We play with the friendly robber rule, which means that the robber cannot be placed on a player with less than 3 points.* * **Trading:** Trade resources with other players or with the bank (usually 4:1, better with ports). * **Building:** Spend resources to build roads, settlements, cities, or buy development cards. * **Victory points:** Earn points from settlements, cities, development cards, Longest Road, and Largest Army. * **Winning:** The first player to reach 10 victory points on their turn wins. * 2-Hours-Max: If no one reaches 10 points by the end of the second hour, the player with the most points wins. This keeps our game capped at **two hours**. ⏰️ *** **Our Game Set-Up & Attendance Policy:** 1. We will have two CATAN sets available for up to six players each, assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. 2. Since each game takes a considerable amount of time, arriving after a game has already started may make it difficult to place you at a table. 3. In such cases, you may need to place your first two settlements on the remaining available parts of the map—if space allows. 4. Please make sure to update your RSVP in advance. Failure to do so may cause unnecessary delays for everyone at the start. 5. Not showing up without notice will result in being blacklisted for at least one future meetup. ***

Join us for a night of board gaming with FANG (Fem All Night Gaming). **We are an all fem board game group** in Columbus, Ohio. No cis-men, please! We play modern hobby board games! If you're unsure what that is, we can teach you! We'll be meeting on the second floor of Giant Eagle in their cafe area. Giant Eagle has a lot of food and beverage options including their hot foods bars. You are also welcome to bring in any outside food.

The Forge does have a full bar and kitchen. There is no cover charge but they do request all attendees to purchase a minimum of ~$20 per person. Soft drink refills are $1 each. Please support our hosts so we can continue to provide great events for the group! The Forge has a large library of games available for us to enjoy. Hosts and regulars will also provide numerous popular games but please bring any games you would like to teach and/or play. Doors open at 6, and we expect gaming to be rolling by around 630. Please promptly end your games and clear out the space at 10pm when the bar closes. We encourage socializing but do not permit disruptive behavior of any kind. There is a parking lot behind the neighboring Mexican restaurant that is free and easy to walk from but it's a bit hidden.

In subsequent classes we will verify and hone our talents with activities and discussion. These are hands-on workshops and participation is expected. The goal of our series will be to develop expertise in areas of particular interest such as mediumship, channeling, divination, healing and, etc..
