Come Play Bruxelles 1893
Come Play Bruxelles 1893
**Alert! New Location**: We will be trying a new location for this game night, Punch Bowl Social in Arlington. We will post our exact location once we get settled. From BGG: ***Bruxelles 1893*** is a worker placement game with elements of bidding and majority control. Each player is an architect of the late 19th century and is trying to achieve, through various actions, an architectural work in the Art Nouveau style. The most successful building yields the most points. Each player can also create works of art to increase their score. We have 2 copies, and the game accommodates up to 5 players. If you can bring a copy, let us know in the comments. If we don't get any more copies and there are more than 10 RSVP's, we will add a table of ***Bruxelles 1897***, a card game based on *Bruxelles 1893*.

Gary's 60th BDay: Alexandria Euchre Club (06/11) 2nd Thursday @ Ramparts Grill
Gary's 60th BDay: Alexandria Euchre Club (06/11) 2nd Thursday @ Ramparts Grill
**June is the Month of Gary: It's my Birthday month and I'm turning 60.** We just had the Gary Birthday Tournament @ Hanks on Sunday June 07th, so come on out and celebrate my birthday again at Ramparts! **Members can begin RSVP'ing for this In Person Meetup two weeks before the event.** ++++++++++++++++++++++++ **Our 2nd Thursday of the month Euchre Location:** Ramparts Tavern & Grill 1700 Fern Street, Alexandria, VA [https://www.rampartstavern.com/](https://www.rampartstavern.com/) GPS: [https://goo.gl/maps/embeJAi5iFGdbNca8](https://goo.gl/maps/embeJAi5iFGdbNca8) **Parking:** * Burke & Herbert Bank Parking Lot across the street * CVS Parking Lot behind the restaurant * Neighborhood street parking ++++++++++++++++++++++++ * **Middle Room Opens @ 6:30pm (Gary will be there).** * **Please arrive by 7:00pm.** * **Please don't leave before 9:30pm.** * We are in the middle room, accessible via the bar or the restaurant. * We start play as soon as we have enough people to get a table going. * We will be getting our bills at 9:30pm so we are all settled by 10:00pm. * Ramparts doesn't close until well after 10:00pm so there isn't a rush for us to get out or anything. ++++++++++++++++++++++++ **For those new or haven't been in awhile, here is some basic information about our meetup:** 1. **Know How to Play the Game**: Every member of the Alexandria Euchre Club must know how to play the game of Euchre to attend a meetup. If you know the game, but it has been years since you've played, that is fine as we've all been there and will be patient while it comes flooding back to you. 2. **New To The Group:** If you have never been, we are a friendly group and welcome everyone to come. Very few people come with a friend or spouse. What this means is that it will not be awkward to arrive alone. It is better than a happy hour because it is easy to make conversation about cards. You don't have to even ask the dreaded "what do you do?" question. If you come three times, you are a regular. Also, house rules are that we play stick the dealer (ask if you don't know this variation). 3. **Correct Table Count:** Euchre is a 4 person game--yes, I know there are 3 and 6 person variations, but most people prefer the 4 person game. What this means is that if you sign-up, we are counting on you to be there. The deadline for RSVP is 2 days prior to the meet-up. Please update by that time, especially if you are going to cancel your RSVP. If you get 3 "no shows" and you'll only be able to sign up via an organizer. 4. **The Waiting List:** If this month is like the previous months, we will have a waiting list. Please be considerate and honor your RSVP. Of course, if you are sick and on death's door we don't want you to come out and get the rest of us sick; however, if not please do come play. A good evening of food, drink, cards, and friendship may be all that you need to be more productive the next day. If you are on the waiting list I am expecting you to either remove yourself if you don't want to be considered for an open slot, or check the site (or email) so you know you've been promoted to an RSVP of YES when a slot opens up. 5. **Costs:** There are some costs associated with meetup -- I have to pay Meetup every 6 months for listing on their website. They don't work off of advertising fees. We pass the bowl around and ask people to throw a $1 in each time they come. Thanks everyone... looking forward to seeing ya !! Young Professionals Social Club: Nationals Home Game Socials (20s & 30s)
Young Professionals Social Club: Nationals Home Game Socials (20s & 30s) Are you in your 20s or 30s looking to expand your social circle, grab a drink, and catch some live baseball without breaking the bank? This is the group for you! We are a vibrant community of local young professionals who meet up for every single Nats home game. Whether you are a die-hard baseball fan or just in it for the social scene, you’ll fit right in. If the Nats are playing at home, we are there! What We Are About Our events focus on high-energy, low-stress environments. We love utilizing standing room only tickets and affordable season passes to keep things budget-friendly, but regular ticket holders are always welcome! Standing room areas (like the outfield bars and concourse decks) give us the freedom to move around, mingle, and actually talk to each other—no being stuck in a single stadium seat all night. Every Home Game: No guessing when the next meetup is. If there is a game at the stadium, we are gathering. Socialize: Meet new friends, network with fellow local professionals, and find your crowd. Eat & Drink: We always kick things off with pre-game drinks or hang out at the stadium's best social spaces. Zero Pressure: You don’t need to be a baseball expert. Come for the game, stay for the conversations. Who Should Join? If you are in your 20s or 30s, live in the area, and want a fun, consistent way to get out after work or on the weekends, hit that "Join" button. Check the schedule, grab your tickets, and we'll see you at the ballpark!

Let's Play "Esoteric Ebb"

Board Games @ Silver Spring Library
Grab a game or bring your own, this event is open play. Whether it is chucking dice, full of traitors, laying tiles, or only cards involved, it doesn't matter; as long as it is a fun game, let's get it to the table and play it. The library will have games available to play but as always, you are welcome and encouraged to bring your own games. So leave a comment about what you are bringing! But be ready to teach your games. The library is located within walking distance of the Silver Spring Metro stop and there is a parking garage across the street. **NTBG** *is a safe environment for all to have fun. Bullying/harassment is not tolerated.*

Root (6pm) --> Punchbowl Social, 1st Floor (Ballson, VA)
*Root* is a game of woodland might and right. Stalk the woods as one of the Vagabonds, seize the initiative with the Eyrie birds of prey, rule over your subjects as the Marquise de Cat, or command the Woodland Alliance to create a new order. With creatures and cunning, you'll rule a fantastic forest kingdom in the ultimate asymmetric board game of adventure and war.
Popular Board Games and Card Games
Popular Board Games and Card Games
We invite you to get acquainted with some popular modern European board games. We grew up enjoying Careers, Clue, Monopoly, and other such games. These new games are even better. They are easy to learn and are loved by a wide range of players. People will be available to teach how to play each of the games described below. Beginners are welcome. Everyone is welcome to bring other board games and card games that you think people will enjoy. The Mexican Train domino game, Stone Age, and Alhambra are likely to be available. Scrabble and Rumikub have been mentioned as possibilities. **TICKET TO RIDE**: Engaging for players of almost any age, Ticket to Ride is great fun. The rules are simple, but deciding what plays to make in any specific game situation remains interesting and enjoyable for years. **CATAN**: In this game players act as competitive settlers. They acquire resources, trade them with other players, and build and develop their holdings on the island of Catan. Players gain victory points as their settlements grow. A feature that makes it easy to enjoy this game over and over is that the island is different for every game. It consists of hexagonal terrain tiles that can connect in any order. **CARCASSONNE**: Players take turns placing tiles to build a land with cities, farms, roads, and cloisters. They earn points by claiming and completing those things. This game remains enjoyable, time after time, for years. All are invited to come to the Lodge as guests of Virginia Colin. Please make sure that she signs you in. Drinks and good quality bar food will be available for purchase. Salads, onion rings, and sweet potato fries are recommended by many of us.

**Important time note:** Please plan on arriving between 5:30 and 6:00 as the elevators lock after 6 and you'll need to message us and we'll need to come get you. The building address is 4450 Bridge Park The entrance is 6620 Mooney St, Suite 400 You will need to scan your ID at the door to get a visitor badge. **Abstract** *Customize the IDE: Building Extensions for Visual Studio Code* Visual Studio Code is one of the most widely used development environments today, and much of its flexibility comes from its extension ecosystem. Extensions allow developers to customize the editor with new features, integrations, and workflow improvements tailored to their needs. In this session, we’ll cover what extensions are and the different types available, including full extensions written in TypeScript or JavaScript, along with lighter-weight extensions such as color themes, language packs, language support, code snippets, and keymaps. We’ll also look at practical reasons a developer might create an extension, from automating repetitive tasks to adding custom tooling. The session includes a hands-on walkthrough of creating a new extension, testing it locally, and understanding the basic project structure. We’ll close with a brief overview of how extensions are packaged and published to the Visual Studio Marketplace and other distribution options. **YouTube Link** TBD
Casual Boardgames - make friends, then beat them in games
Casual Boardgames - make friends, then beat them in games
Welcome to Casual Boardgames, where we enjoy classic tabletop games and social deduction games while bonding over good food, drinks, and great conversations.
We started this group to meet new people and make new friends, and bonding over games in a relaxed atmosphere is a great way to do that. We currently meet near route 23 and Polaris Parkway, and this is close to areas like Powell, Lewis Center, Worthington, and parts of Westerville and Columbus.
Feel free to bring your own games or play one of the many games our members bring. If you are inexperienced, we will help you learn.
Here are just a few examples of the kind of games we play.
Tabletop/board games: Splendor, Catan, Azul, Dominion, 7 Wonders…
Social deduction games: Code Names, Chameleon, Werewords…
IMPORTANT:
1. While we love playing a variety of games and competing, we are not just about the games. We interact and talk while playing, and this leads to a lot of laughter and fun. If you just want to compete and focus solely on the game, then this is probably not the group you are looking for.
2. Many people join groups like this and never (or rarely) show up after weeks or months. If you join and never really come, we will eventually remove you from the group as a courtesy to our members. Why? Because limiting group conversations (on the app) to regular members makes communication and planning much easier. Also, while it may be rare, it protects members from people who join because they are interested in following a person instead of having a real interest in our group. If you get removed, it is just because you haven’t come, and we follow this protocol as a courtesy to our regular game players.
Battle of the personal agents
Battle of the personal agents
Join the Columbus AI community for a special event. **Battle of the Personal Agents** is your chance to see what people are actually building with AI agents and personal automation systems. Whether you’re running OpenClaw, Hermes, or a completely custom solution, bring your agent and show the community how it works. We’re interested in real-world implementations: the problems your agent solves, how you use it day-to-day, how it’s hosted and managed, how you built it, and why you’ve chosen to keep using it. Live demonstrations are encouraged, so be prepared to show your code, architecture, workflows, and your agent performing real tasks. This is less about polished presentations and more about sharing practical experience, comparing approaches, and learning from one another. If you’d like to present, please contact Chris Slee (via meetup) before the event so we can allocate enough time for everyone’s demonstrations. Come ready to show what you’ve built, discover what others are doing, and maybe find a few ideas worth taking home. Whether you’re deep in the field or just getting curious, come connect with others building and exploring AI in Columbus. Claude Code with Unity
Claude Code with Unity
A session on using Claude Code, Anthropic's AI coding agent, in real Unity development. We'll cover what coding agents are, where Claude Code fits, and how to apply it to an actual game project. The format is presentation-style, with live demos and time for questions throughout. After brief scene-setting on coding agents and what makes Claude Code distinct, we'll go problem-driven: demoing it live on a released Unity game and introducing each feature as a solution to a problem we hit. What to Expect: * An intro to coding agents and where Claude Code fits * A live demo on a real Unity project * Key features as solutions to real problems: 𝖢𝖫𝖠𝖴𝖣𝖤.𝗆𝖽, context management, hooks, skills, subagents, and MCP * Unity-specific pain points, including Domain Reload and MCP caveats * Putting it together All experience levels welcome. Food and drinks provided. *Note: meetup topics may change — check back for the latest details.*
