🌌 %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% **Dear Group Elements,** (Yes — *like elements of a mathematical group* 🧮🙂) Let's attend this fascinating (and informative!) talk on **“SMILE: Revealing the Invisible — Exploring Earth's Magnetosphere in X-rays”** by Dimitra Koutroumpa (LATMOS-OVSQ) 🌌🌌 🔄 ***This event replaces a previously announced session scheduled for the 7th April, titled ‘Exploring the nature of dark energy with the DESI project’, which has been postponed to 5 May (registration opens on 8 April)*** **Description:** 🌞 Space weather studies Earth's space environment, particularly the interactions between the Sun and our planet. At the heart of this system, the magnetosphere — a natural magnetic shield — protects us from charged particles emitted by the Sun (the solar wind), which are generally kept at bay by a boundary called the magnetopause. 🛰️ However, under certain conditions, the Sun's and Earth's magnetic fields can interconnect, creating gaps in the magnetopause. These openings allow energetic solar particles to penetrate our space environment. The intensity and frequency of these magnetic reconnection events vary with solar activity. During activity peaks, solar flares and coronal mass ejections (CMEs) can trigger major disruptions such as geomagnetic storms, polar auroras, but also satellite malfunctions, radio blackouts, and even power outages. 🔭 To better understand and anticipate these phenomena, the SMILE mission (Solar Wind Magnetosphere Ionosphere Link Explorer), planned for launch in April 2026, will use innovative X-ray imaging technology. Its goal: to globally observe the magnetosphere and its evolution in response to solar wind variations, in order to improve our understanding of space weather and its impacts on daily life. 📝 **Here’s the registration link** (please do it promptly) and more! https://www.iap.fr/science/conferences/conferences_mensuelles/ https://www.iap.fr/science/conferences/conferences_mensuelles/form_reservation_conference.php https://www.iap.fr/science/conferences/conferences_mensuelles/resumes2026.html **Even if the registration appears full when you follow the link, it’s usually still possible to get seats if you arrive early** 🍀 The talk is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. ▶️ And the session will also be available **live and replay** on IAP's YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@InstitutdAstrophysiquedeParis 📍 **Acces**: https://www.iap.fr/accueil/acces/acces-fr.html 🍺It usually lasts 60–90 minutes. Afterwards for those who'd like to continue the evening, we could grab a drink and/or go to this pretty good fast-food restaurant near Alésia: Brasao Alésia – Grilled Chicken Restaurant, Paris 14th, 47 Avenue du Général Leclerc, 75014 Paris https://maps.app.goo.gl/5QrggZkJYsdaTLUk6 See you very soon! 🌌

🌿🧘‍♀️ A bientôt! 🧘‍♂️🌿

The Dissident Salon - Poetry, Prose, and Provocation by Alissa Leeds
The Dissident Salon is a weekly poetry and performance series created as an extension of the DISSIDENT Club’s mission to provide a home for dissenting voices, hosted by Alissa Leeds. Rooted in the tradition of the literary salon, it treats writing and performance as public acts that question power and challenge the systems that shape our lives. Each week features a curated performer, followed by open mic sessions open to all. Work may be presented in English, French, or other languages. Multilingual expression is central to the space and reflects the realities of exile, displacement, and exchange that define the DISSIDENT Club. The Salon is an ongoing forum for people who speak publicly and think critically through art. It exists to build community and support sustained creative work within the broader ecosystem of the DISSIDENT Club. **When:** Every Tuesday, starting January 6th, 2026 **Sign-ups:** 8:00 PM **Sets:** Three 45-minute sessions at 9:00 PM, 10:00 PM, and 11:00 PM **Where:** The DISSIDENT Club, 58 rue Richer, 75009 Bring work that confronts. A dispo sur place: tapis, blocs See you there, Claire ♥ ✖ Le yoga Vinyasa c'est quoi? The cover, the typography, the texture of the pages, the way a sentence is constructed. We just rarely slow down enough to notice. This reading party is your chance to disconnect from screens, unwind from the daily buzz, and meet like-minded people — while rediscovering your book through a completely different lens. A little escape into a different world — where time slows down, people are open to connect, and you can truly focus on yourself. The perfect start to your weekend. ✨ *** **What to expect:** 📖 Peaceful (me-)time to read that book you've been meaning to start (or finish!) 🎨 A Slow Art session that might just change the way you read... forever 🤝 The chance to meet and connect with like-minded (wannabe) booklovers 💬 A space where connection comes easily — no rush, no pressure, no notifications 🫖 Community vibes, a welcoming atmosphere, and plenty of time to relax 📵 Valuable time offline that leaves you feeling rested and fulfilled 🇫🇷 🇬🇧 French & English friendly — all our events are bilingual, so you can comfortably speak either language *** **The Program:** **10:00 – 10:30 \| Arrive & Make Yourself at Home** **10:30 – 11:00 \| Slow Art Session** We'll begin by looking at our books the way you'd look at a painting in a museum: slowly, curiously, without rushing to "get through it." Led by an Art Therapist specialised in Museum Art Therapy and Book Therapy (yes, that's me, Stefania, your city leader 🙋‍♀️), this session will invite you to truly *see* your book before you read it. We'll also explore the idea of Slow Reading, because... did you know that's a thing too? **11:00 – 12:00 \| Dive Into Your Book** Your time to sit back and enjoy undistracted reading time — perhaps with fresh eyes after the session. **12:00 – 13:00 \| Connect With Others** Chat and connect with others, but only if you feel like it. Meet new people, share stories about your favourite reads, and enjoy meaningful conversations. We create laid-back spaces where talking to strangers is the norm and connection is made easy. *** **What to Bring** Your current read, a book with a cover that makes your heart sing, or both. Comics, poetry, graphic novels — all literature is welcome here. Come as you are, bring what moves you. *** **About your phone:** *Your phone will rest in our “phone hotel,” and we’ll be its bodyguards. But just so you know, if it magically disappears, learns to fly, or mysteriously breaks, The Offline Club can’t be held responsible.* *Not quite ready to let it go? No worries — just switch it off and keep it tucked away, out of sight.* *** We love and appreciate the venues that host our events! Please remember that your consumption gives the venues one more reason to love us back! *** **We can’t wait to swap screen time for real time with you.** Offline hugs, Stefania, The Offline Club Paris

Speak Easy (Storytelling)
Speak Easy (Storytelling)
The topic for April is "Water" Speak Easy: true stories, told live. The idea is simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant- it's up to you. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast. Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human. And in a world of smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and more . . . it gives people a real, breathing, in-person way to connect. The night is geared for true stories of all kinds, taking the best tales told around kitchen tables, in darkened pubs, on the street corner, and at late-night parties and giving them an audience. Speak Easy is also a great outlet for performers, writers, and artists looking to share their favorite stories and perfect their skills. We strongly encourage tellers to please tell the story rather than read it so we keep within the spirit of good storytelling and stay engaged with the audience. All are welcome. Hang around after the show for a drink and build community!

Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing. **BEING LATE IS OKAY:** just show up and get settled! If you were on time, please be willing to make room for the friendly latecomer. But Streetlight Guild does have free WiFi! Yay! * **PARKING:** There is free public parking at Streetlight Guild.

By choosing to contribute, you’re not just leading an event—you’re helping build a mental health movement that supports long-term well-being and connection for all during a severe mental health epidemic. ## **Come Join Us!** We’d love to have you be part of this growing community of people prioritizing their mental health, movement, and connection. 🔹 **Visit Our Website to Learn More:** https://speakyourmind.men/joinusoutside 🔹 **Apply Here to Lead Your Own Group!** – https://form.jotform.com/taketimespeakyourmind/sym-group-leader-application 🔹 **Support the mission**: If you resonate with the mission and want to support, feel free to join a group before applying or donate to help us reach our goals to help more people! Humanist Program
Humanist Program
The Humanist Monthly Program is our longest running event and still a community favorite. In the old days it used to be called "Going to HCCO" and we still like to think of it as our flagship event. We will be hearing from Becca Powell, Director of Advocacy and Outreach at Unchained At Last, an organization whose mission is dedication to ending forced and child marriage in the United States through direct services and systems change. Unchained At Last's mission clearly meshes and addresses several of our Humanist Ten Commitments. Becca will educate us about an issue many of us may not be familiar with--but should be. Food and drinks will be provided at the event. Feel free to show up a little bit early to hang out and talk. Going forward our meetings will be hybrid. You can meet us in-person or attend online Join Zoom Meeting [https://us02web.zoom.us/j/87836564953?pwd=4Mi57ElZkDIFlb1fnlNwOJ0NiOK4tP.1](https://us02web.zoom.us/j/87836564953?pwd=4Mi57ElZkDIFlb1fnlNwOJ0NiOK4tP.1) Meeting ID: 878 3656 4953 Passcode: 760812 One tap mobile +19292056099,,87836564953#,,,,\*760812# US (New York) +13017158592,,87836564953#,,,,\*760812# US (Washington DC) The formal presentation will start at noon
