Read Editing: Monthly Writers Meetup for Sharing, Feedback & Co-Creating
\*This is a free event, but please [donate through Eventbrite](https://www.eventbrite.de/e/read-editing-monthly-writers-meetup-tickets-1981513291596?aff=oddtdtcreator) to support our collective if you are able!
Please join us on the 2nd Monday of every month for this event, built for all of your “in between works“ by the [Read Wedding](https://www.instagram.com/readwedding/) collective.
Most events for writers are focused around ***creation or performance***. Much comes between this, yet we do not always hold each other through that phase. It is perhaps expected that all of those self-questioning, unsure, multi-path moments between lightbulb idea and snap-inducing performances are to be personal and private -- but they do not always have to be. We therefore offer you a space for everything unfinished. Needing bouncing around. Ready for a test run.
We will meet in a more traditional meetup format than our open mic -- without any set format of facilitation. We will determine the approach to each session based on who's arrived and what their goals are. You may expect some combination of solitary writing time, sharing and feedback, and guided exercises. We'd love for you to show up however you are, and with some writing materials (including your phone, if you prefer). However you arrive, so long as you are feeling curious and open, we will have something for you and your work.
See you there!
Brooks, Bubamarrë & Johanna

Go West - English Stand-up Comedy & Lip Sync Battle
**See Berlin's best comedians at one of the city's longest-running comedy showcases! With a new lineup every month!**
Doors: 8 p.m.
Showtime: 9 p.m.
Go West Comedy is one of Berlin’s oldest English stand-up nights at one of the city's friendliest venues. Your hosts Simone Hudson (New Zealand) and Ben MacLean (Canada) pick their favourite performers for a night of good vibes and top-notch stand-up. Plus we've got the only Lip Sync Battle halftime show in the city!
Suggested donation EUR 10-15. Your donations allow us to keep the show going and to pay the performers for their hard work. A portion of your donations also goes to support our LGBTQIA+ charity home, AHA-Berlin e.V.
Come find out why our fans say we're like no other comedy night in the city! Fresh, diverse line-ups, prizes for the audience, and comedy that's friendly but never boring.
Laughing Matter: Weird Science & Even Weirder Improv
Are you ready for an experiment? Let’s mix some cutting-edge science with hilarious improv. Come watch a team of Berlin’s funniest improv nerds and science affiliates deconstruct a real scientific talk from a real scientific person and turn it into... well, Laughing Matter.
Come join in the fun and leave the venue knowing more about one or two particular scientific fields of research than you did before. Unless you are a scientist, then we can’t guarantee you won’t somehow know less.

Act Easy
**This event can be different from anything you have experienced before - if you're willing to jump in.**
This is something vivid, something challenging, something new: spontaneous, creative, fun, goofy, because we blend theatre with real-life interactions.
Together, we improvise scenes and playful actions in public places, such as cafes, bars, public transport, and more. While acting out, the public becomes the audience — without even knowing it.
We start easy and become more creative and a little crazier over time.
You might change your life tonight.
Group size: 6–8 people.
English and German are both welcome. No acting experience required.
They don't accept credit cards in the Dachkammer. So cash is needed.

Improvisation Workshop - Coming with nothing and leaving with everything
We, Mariangela Tinelli and Meltem Nil are both Solo-Improvisation performance artists, we are regularly performing in diverse venues in Berlin for years and now we are also creating workshops together!
Feel welcome to try it out if you are into improvisation or you are a poet, artist, dancer, musician or simply curious to try new things, here is our description (and feel free to ask me questions in messages):
**This time we focus on: " Leave it, to make it richer" The connection between narration and abstraction.**
*We will start by crafting transitions of movement, voice and text in our performances. Then we’ll find our ways of telling stories and working with narration. At the same time we will explore how to support, overlap and extend our talking flow with structural and abstract elements and eventually let go of the story line. Where can we go from there? What other levels and perspectives exist to enrich our creations and stories? You will find out in the workshop, where you will be guided with exercises in solos, duos and in the group.*
The workshop is open for everybody who wants to act in a different way, to do research and to shape space. Workshop language is German and English, we also speak Italian and Turkish.
Please register here with meet-up or

Speak Easy (Storytelling)
The topic for March is "Our Bodies, Ourselves"
Speak Easy: true stories, told live.
The idea is simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant- it's up to you. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast.
Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human. And in a world of smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and more . . . it gives people a real, breathing, in-person way to connect.
The night is geared for true stories of all kinds, taking the best tales told around kitchen tables, in darkened pubs, on the street corner, and at late-night parties and giving them an audience. Speak Easy is also a great outlet for performers, writers, and artists looking to share their favorite stories and perfect their skills. We strongly encourage tellers to please tell the story rather than read it so we keep within the spirit of good storytelling and stay engaged with the audience. All are welcome. Hang around after the show for a drink and build community!

VEGAN MEALS: As previously mentioned, the food vendor does NOT have a vegan option at this year’s Oscar Party. However, we DO have a solution! I have reached out to several individuals who are affected. If you are a vegan, plan to attend the Oscar Party and did not receive an e-mail from me, please reach out via private message post a note below. I’ll provide details off-line.
And while there won’t be a vegan meal option this year, I think we do have a workable solution. NOTE THAT WE ARE TEMPORARILY DANCING IN THE AFTERNOON INSTEAD OF EVENING. Dance with us in the afternoon then you can still go out in the evening!
**Sponsor: All Soles Contra and Square Dancing, First Unitarian Universalist Church, 93 W. Weisheimer Rd., Columbus OH 43214**
WHAT IS CONTRA DANCING? Picture the Grand Ball scenes like you’ve seen in period films such as “Pride and Prejudice”, where the dancers are lined up in long lines, across from each other. That’s English Country Dancing, the predecessor of contra dancing. Now, add moves like “swing your partner” and “do-si-do,” like you’ve seen in square dancing. Set it to fabulous, high energy, live music with fiddles, guitars, percussion and more, alá “Riverdance.” Finally, set the whole scene down in the middle of Woodstock, with a hip, groovy atmosphere, a bit of tie-dye, and hints of counter-culture attitude. THAT’s Contra Dancing!
Wear cool and comfortable clothes (you will get warm) and clean shoes that won't mark up our nice wood floor.
Be sure to come for the beginner's lesson from 1:30 - 2:00, followed by dancing 2:00 - 430. All dances are taught; we will help you learn! Beginners always welcome, no need to bring a partner.
