Tervuren Arboretum
On Sunday we will keep in the shade by enjoying the Tervuren Arboretum, its still going to be warm so not too strenuous. We will start at Jezus Eik, Parking de Bosuil at approx. 13 Witherendreef, and walk 9 km and finally enjoy refreshment at the Café de la foret, Brusselsesteenweg 650, Overijse (Jezus Eik).
There are a lot of roadworks in the area, so I am hoping we can reach the intended start point ok.
I need to phone and confirm how many will stay for lunch.

Non-fiction Book Club: The Pragmatistâs Guide to Life by Simone/Malcolm Collins

me via 0032 485 38 09 23
-----------
Let's read and discuss non-fiction together.
In **June** we will be discussing "The Pragmatistâs Guide to Life: A Guide to Creating Your Own Answers to Lifeâs Biggest Questions" by Simone and Malcolm Collins.
For more information about the book check out goodreads:
[https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/38452905-the-pragmatist-s-guide-to-life](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/38452905-the-pragmatist-s-guide-to-life)
How it works:
- 10-15min Introduction round
- 1 - 1,5h Free discussion around the book
- 10min selection of the next book. (We will vote between three possible books. I bring two suggestions and we select a third one from the group. So if there is a book you like to discuss feel free to put it forward.)
Don't worry if you cannot finish it in time. Just join us for a coffee or tea and a good conversation. :)
Happy reading!
Lustin to Namur on the GR 126 (22km)
We will follow the GR 126 from Lustin to Namur, a route along the Meuse Valley, packed with steep forested climbs, stunning river viewpoints, and a historical finish passing Namur's Citadel - and maybe a stop for a drink or ice-cream, depending on the train schedule.
There is rain forecasted for the afternoon, but that should not stop us from hiking :)
The number of participants is limited to 15, so please manage your registration responsibly: only sign up if you really intend to come and cancel as soon as you know you canât (this also goes for people on the waiting list!).
We will try to keep close to an average moving speed of 5km/h. We will walk both on paved and unpaved roads. Iâve not tested this track beforehand, so itâs possible that there are some mistakes in the planning (i.e. it may become longer ;-).
ââYou can find the gpx track here: https://loc.wiki/t/270911426?wa=sc
ââMeeting point:
We meet at 8.10 in Brussels Central station next to the main stairs. Our train (IC 2108 to Luxembourg) leaves from platform 3 at 08.20. We have a connecting train in Namur and arrive to Lustin at 10.05.
ââ Trains back to Brussels: direct trains from Namur are every hour at XX.16.
ââ Train ticket:
One way ticket to Lustin is 9.60⏠or 5.80⏠with train+. One way ticket from Namur is 8.00⏠or 4.80⏠with train+.
Return ticket to Lustin should also be ok.
ââ Specifics:
Distance: ± 22 km
Elevation gain: 400 m
Net walking time: ± 5 h
Weather forecast: sunny and hot, with some rain forecasted in the afternoon.
In the unlikely case of too bad weather, I may cancel a hike, even few hours before the event. If this must happen, I will of course update the Meetup website and send out an email to those registered. So it is important to have access to either the Meetup website and/or your emails.
ââ What to bring:
* Plenty of water for the heat + pack your own lunch/snacks
* Comfortable hiking shoes and clothes
* Sun and bug protection (Sunscreen, hat, tick repellent, etc)
* Raingear
* Small money for drinks/ice-cream
ââ Basic rules:
Please RSVP only if you really intend to come. And if your plans change, update your RSVP asap, even hours before the walk. This is basic courtesy towards others. Repeated late cancellations are not well considered (at all). No-shows are even worse.
Do not show up for a hike unless you are on the âgoingâ list.
ââ Acknowledgement of member responsibility and release of liability:
You are responsible for yourself and should be fit enough if you want to take part. As the participation in the events is strictly voluntary and you freely choose to join, it is the responsibility of individuals participating to ensure that they are fit enough and have adequate coverage to protect themselves. By signing up for this event, you agree to release the organisers from any responsibility and liability.

Welcome to The Club.
**Welcome to The Club.**
A **curated** social community in Brussels for people who want real connections, memorable experiences, and **better energy than the usual random meetup chaos**.
Most of our events happen in **private homes**, gardens, hidden places around Brussels, or unusual locations outside the city. The goal is simple: create the kind of atmosphere where people actually talk, laugh, connect, and want to come back.
We organize things like:
âą gourmet lunches & dinners
âą picnics & roadtrips
âą cooking nights
âą walks around Brussels
âą karaoke & movie nights
âą debates & discussions
âą card and social games
âą occasional âchaperonedâ social evenings where people can meet naturally in a safe environment
The difference is that we personally curate and vet new members.
The host actively introduces newcomers, helps people integrate into the group, and keeps the atmosphere respectful and relaxed. We have zero tolerance for creepy behavior, unwanted pressure, spam, random uninvited people, or drama.
*Unfortunately, posting too many details publicly on Meetup or on the internet in general quickly attracts bots, scammers, fake profiles, crypto weirdos, and people who completely ruin the vibe for everyone else.*
Thatâs why most of our real coordination happens privately through our ***vetted WhatsApp community***.
To join, simply scan the QR code in the image.
If you are on your phone and cannot scan it directly:
âą take a screenshot of the image
âą open the screenshot in your photo gallery
âą most phones can automatically detect QR codes from photos by long pressing or using Google Lens / iPhone scan feature
Then request access to the group and introduce yourself briefly.
See you soon
Deep Conversation - Question Chosen in Session
How do we connect to people? What is so great about being different? Is love selfless? Should we be dreamers or realists? What values are we losing? When are we at our best? Does childhood ever end? Is morality a matter of convenience? What makes a person beautiful?
Such questions, and many more, await you Sunday at Sister's Cafe (second floor) . After introductions we will collect questions from the group participants, choose one by voting then discuss it for an hour. Then most of us stay for drinks and bizarre conversations :-).
đŹ The Club â Summer Movie Festival (Private Garden)
Small curated movie nights in a hidden garden in Ixelles, next to Place Flagey.
A mix of:
* **cult classics**
* **recent movies**
* **international cinema**
* **comedy nights**
* **karaoke & dubbing chaos nights**
* **comfort food and summer vibes**
**This is not a giant public Meetup** where 40 strangers stand awkwardly around overpriced drinks pretending networking is fun. Humanity already suffered enough.
Our idea is simple:
we gather in a private home and transform the courtyard into a small outdoor cinema.
Sometimes we cook together before the movie:
Italian, Thai, Lebanese, Japanese, Balkan, Greek, Latin American street food etc.
Sometimes people simply grab pizza from the excellent pizzeria next door and join the screening.
Food is intentionally relaxed:
bowls, finger food, street food, popcorn, snacks, comfort food.
**Some nights are more gourmet.**
Some are glorified pizza-and-movie nights.
Both are valid forms of civilization **;-)**
## **What makes this different**
The group is i**ntentionally small**:
usually 6 to 8 people maximum.
**People are introduced properly.**
Nobody gets abandoned in a corner.
The atmosphere stays human, social and safe.
**No heavy drinking.**
**No creepy behavior.**
No random people showing up uninvited.
Smoking is allowed because is outside in the courtyard and occasionally we may have **hookah nights** depending on the movie/theme.
## **Typical evenings**
* Wong Kar-wai + Asian comfort food
* Spaghetti western + Italian street food
* Anime + sushi night
* Greek cinema + mezze
* Balkan chaos cinema + burek
* Cult movie dubbing nights where people voice scenes live karaoke-style
Yes, this is a real thing now apparently.
## **Important**
Because Meetups and public internet are full of bots, spam accounts and socially radioactive individuals, **we do NOT post the exact address publicly.**
To join:
scan the QR code on the image and request access to the private WhatsApp group or send me a DM.
From there:
* we announce movies
* vote on menus
* organize cooking nights
* coordinate places
**If you are new in Brussels, introverted, traveling, recently arrived, or simply tired of giant impersonal events, this may be your thing.**

Free In-Person Events: How to Let Go of the Past and Move Forward
The emotional pain from past bad experiences easily lingers in the present, making it hard to enjoy life and create your future. Even when you think you've moved on, the negative emotions can be triggered, sending you back into the pain of that experience.
And we are talking about pain; emotions such as grief, depression, anxiety, fear (or terror), boiling anger, simmering resentment, feelings of shame, blaming and regret can leave you incapacitated to a greater or lesser degree.
In this local event we will be discussing the reasons why these past bad experiences have the power to affect you long after they occurred. We'll go over why the emotional pain can be so strong. We'll also discuss some simple solutions to overcome your emotional pain and be free to fully enjoy your life again.
Examples of painful experiences include:
* A broken relationship or divorce.
* Death or loss of a loved one.
* Death of a pet.
* A sudden shock or bad news.
* A betrayal.
* Being part of an abusive relationship.
* A bad injustice.
* Loss of a job, position or business.
* A grave illness or injury.
The negative emotions from these experiences don't just go away on their own. But the good news is there is a way to clear them out of your way.
Be sure to click on the red "Attend" button below to come to this local event. We look forward to seeing you there.
This group is sponsored the Dianetics & Scientology Self-Improvement Center.
