The Barbican Centre is a symbol of brutalist architecture. Sharp edges, concrete, light and shadow, columns and blocky shapes: it’s a place rife with opportunities for our keen eyes and blazing cameras! This maze of shapes and lines is where we will be continuing our journey towards street photography excellence. It isn't the place for complex, layered crowds. Instead, we will focus on a slower, more intentional pace—seeking out the shapes, lines, and patterns where we can purposefully place a human element to create a striking image. Open to all skill levels. Whether you shoot on a smartphone or a high-end camera, this workshop is about elevating your craft and learning to capture better, more intentional images. For those who have joined me before, I look forward to continuing our journey. We’ll be building directly on the skills you’ve already practiced, adding this new 'intentional' element to your toolkit to create even more compelling street scenes. I will be there helping you along to develop the frame and to understand how to build the image from the ground up. Join us for a great afternoon, sharing your passion with fellow photographers and taking an important step in your journey to mastering the streets with your camera! What will you need? Please bring flip flops or sandals in yoir bag in case of river crossing Join us for this classic walk in the **South Downs National Park for the Sunset!!!**. This is one of the most magnificent and justifiably well-known **13-mile walk** along the **South Downs way**. This event will be for people to meet, go off and film, come back and enjoy the results. Whatever you want to do, be it film, act, direct or even just sort of hang around at the back then this is the event for you! MEET AT THE ENTRANCE TO THE NATIONAL THEATRE. If you are wondering what this group can provide for you, it’s above all else friendship with other like minded people, whether you are a screenwriter, director, cameraperson, actor etc etc. With that in mind, on Saturday we will do the following: 1. We’ll meet at the National Theatre on Southbank. 2. We’ll split into two groups (or more if needed) 3. Each team will try and beat the other teams to a pub in EC1 in London and edit (maybe) the film. BUT 4. Each team must make a 2 minute 30 seconds film on the way with a beginning middle and end, a solid story arc for the main character, etc. Remember to bring: 1. You and your enthusiasm 2. A camera (iPhones dslrs whatever) 3. Someone willing to do an edit after we arrive back at the on their computers All teams will then meet-up at a pub in EC1 and watch what we have filmed, happy with what they have learnt! The first team that finishes gets a Small Prize! Hopefully then, you will stick around to have a great time chatting about film, meeting new people, and forgetting about work until the late hours. First, we will visit the exhibition Enthoven Unboxed: 100 Years of Collecting Performance. This exhibition marks 100 years since Gabrielle Enthoven founded the theatre and performance collection at the V&A, and the display explores an A–Z of themes to show how performance continues to entertain, provoke and inspire. There is a huge variety of items on display ranging from Elton John's glasses through modern concert posters through to late 19th century theatre themed artwork. Next, we will walk through the museum to the Theatre and Performance Galleries. These galleries contain exciting theatre and performance collections, including rock and pop posters, theatre and ballet costumes, puppets, stage sets, Stars Wars costumes, and more. We should expect to spend around 45 minutes at each of the two legs of the visit. If we finish early, there are numerous other galleries in the museum, and we can pick another one or two to visit depending on timings. I already have a note of what's on. After the exhibition and galleries, the meetup ends, but it would be great if most if not all of us, stay for an entirely optional tea, drink, or snack in one of the many establishments in the area or the cafe at the V&A if that is still open. This will offer a great opportunity to relax and chat socially after what should be an interesting afternoon. The exhibitions are free, but the usual £1.50 group maintenance fee applies and is non refundable. Please note that Meetup now adds about £0.60 to this as well. (If you pay cash on the day, it’s £2.50). As always, you are participating at your own risk. We would appreciate it if you changed your RSVP no more than 2 days before the event should you find you can no longer attend. This Women’s Day, we’re gathering for something simple and meaningful - a relaxed, walk-focused afternoon dedicated to celebrating small wins, good conversation, and the kind of growth that often goes unnoticed. This event is for women only. 📍 **Plan** We’ll meet at **Hermanos Colombian Coffee (Blackhorse Road area)** at **12:00pm**, settle in briefly, and then head towards **Walthamstow Wetlands (Forest Road entrance).** Walthamstow Wetlands is Europe’s largest urban wetland nature reserve and home to herons, cormorants, great crested grebes, and if we’re lucky… maybe even a kingfisher sighting. No promises, but eyes up 😉 The afternoon will be mostly walk-focused, with a gentle stroll through nature and a short reflective pause along the way - nothing intense, just a small intentional moment to mark the occasion. Depending on the weather and group energy, we may stop at the café inside the Wetlands for a short break. On our way back towards **Walthamstow Central**, we’ll make a light bakery stop before wrapping up around **3:00pm**. ⛅️ If London weather decides to be London weather, we’ll adapt the route and spend more time indoors while keeping the spirit of the gathering intact. Okay, so here's another one by request... **"An Evening with Topaz Labs"** The Topaz Labs tools are regarded as some of the finest photo editing plug-ins that you can add to your photo editing workflow. From noise reduction to resizing to sharpening, the results of these plugins are highly regarded and well reviewed in industry editing blogs. Join us for the evening and I will give you a preview of the most popular Topaz Lab tools and show you how I have used them in my digitial editing workflow. The workshop also emphasizes practical, hands-on experience with real-world image editing and compositing projects. The Photoshop Bootcamp workshop will follow the outline below: I. Introduction to Photoshop * **A. Understanding the Photoshop Interface:** Exploring the workspace, panels, tools, and options bar. * **B. Basic Image Concepts:** Pixels, resolution, image sizing, cropping, and color models (RGB vs. CMYK). * **C. Non-Destructive Editing Principles:** Why it's important and how to maintain flexibility. II. Working with selections * **A. Selection Tools:** Marquee, Lasso, Magic Wand, Quick Selection, and Pen tool. * **B. Refining Selections:** Using Select and Mask, feathering, and other techniques for precise edges. * **C. Creating and Managing Masks:** Layer masks for non-destructive selections and image blending. III. Layers and Adjustments * **A. Understanding and Managing Layers:** Creating, selecting, moving, grouping, and organizing layers. * **B. The Photoshop Bootcamp workshop is a hands-on workshop, and example files and materials are made available to each participant. Each participant is required to have a computer available for use throughout the workshop. That computer must be adequately configured to run the latest version of Photoshop available in Adobe's Creative Cloud software suite (as of the time of this document, that version is Photoshop 2025 (Version 26.9.0)). Photoshop should be installed and operational before the commencement of the workshop. Please don't hesitate to contact me PRIOR TO THE WORKSHOP to confirm that you are indeed prepared for doing the hands-on exercises during the workshop. GENERAL WORKSHOP NOTES: There is a fee of $400 per person associated with this workshop. The Photoshop Bootcamp workshop comprises two sessions (Session 01, November 22nd, and Session 02, November 23rd). The $400 fee covers participation in both sessions. For scheduling purposes, on Meetup.com, the workshop is broken up into two (2) sessions. You only need to sign up for Session 01 (November 22nd), you will AUTOMATICALLY be signed up for Session 02 (November 23rd). The following registration/cancellation policy is in place for this workshop: * The workshop fee is due upon signing up for the event. You will be contacted shortly after you register to make arrangements for processing payment. * Participant cancellations before October 22nd are entitled to a FULL refund of the workshop fee. Participant cancellations after October 22nd, but before November 15th, are entitled to a 50% refund of the workshop fee. Participant who cancel **after November 15th** will not be entitled to a refund of their workshop fee.
