Photo Meet-Up
We continue our regular **monthly photography meet-up** sessions for artists and photographers in South London at the **Phoenix Community Center** in **Crystal Palace**. These group sessions are suitable for beginners, emerging talent and intermediate practitioners who wish to expand their photography or lens-based practice. The sessions are led and guided, yet invite self-determination and participation, with a vision for the group to develop its own goals, both personal as well as a group ambition.
Meetings take place usually once per month, on Wednesday evenings 7pm-9pm. Sessions can be booked individually, the fee is 25£ per session. You are eligible for a reduced fee of £20 for a taster session if you join us for the first time. You can join at any point.

Join us at our main studio for the Wednesday class, equipped with easels and all the equipment you might want, this is our principal teaching space. Following our mixed length pose formula this is an ideal class to develop your practice and get support with any issues you are trying to resolve in your practice. We serve hot vegan food in the break too, so don't worry if you are hungry after work. Expect a warm atmosphere and a wide variety of skill levels, equipment, easels and a vibrant, welcoming community artists.

About the venue. **The venue opens at 6.30pm** our classes take place in the Lower Ground Floor The Garrett Centre - This is fully wheelchair accessible via a ramp to the space and has wheelchair accessible doors and amenities
Nearest tube: Bethnal Green (central line).

Tube/train: approx. 8 minutes walk from Bethnal Green Tube (Central Line) and 12 mins. walk from Hoxton & Shoreditch overground stations.

Nrs. 26, 48, 55 - stop Hackney Road.
Nrs. 106, 254 - stop Old Ford Road.
Nr. 309 - stop York Road.
When walking/cycling, there is a footpath behind the Tesco's on Bethnal Green Road that will get you there faster (see highlight on map above). If driving you will need to go via Hackney Road and turn left on Mansford St, follow to the end of the Street where you will see the Garrett Centre on your left. Parking is free after 6.30 in the surrounding streets and directly in front of the centre, however, you should note that the thick white lines denote no parking areas, only use actual parking bays.
**Bikes:** please bring your bikes down to the basement, we are currently able to offer secure space in one of the rooms of the centre.

We are really excited to welcome you into the studio for our weekly drop in life drawing sessions!
As with all our drop in classes- expect professional tutors and models in an inspiring and unique space. With poses from 30 seconds to one hour- there is something for everyone. This is a general life drawing class with tuition for beginners and advice for those who are more experienced, all designed to encourage you to develop your own style and approach.

8:30pm at the Omnibus Theatre in Clapham Common. Acting helps with confidence and awareness. In a fun and relaxed atmosphere, you will meet new people and learn all about Acting. No experience is needed.
We'll do relaxation exercises, games, improvisations, storytelling, and a bit later on we'll start working on character and text. The year ends with an exciting Showcase where friends and family come and see how all your hard work has paid off :)

Low Tide - Long Exposure Photography - Kase Filters Provided
LOW TIDE FINE ART LONG EXPOSURE PHOTOGRAPHY
Learn to create the dreamy effects this type of photography can create. You have the ability to blur clouds, cars, etc or create surreal, dreamy, or dramatic effects on water and sky.
For this session we'll shoot the river at low tide. Low tide will give us a unique view of London Bridge and our other locations including the Shard.
This type of photography is associated with fine art photography due to the surreal effects long exposures can bring.

Exposing the Classics 2.0: Strobe Lighting Focus
**EXPOSING THE CLASSICS 📸🩰**
*(with a particular focus on Strobe Lighting!)*
DPL is happy to bring back our Exposing the Classics workshop, with a particular focus this time on working with strobe lighting–Saturday 21 February at The Camera Club in South London!
Take a look at some of the images we managed to capture last time. Using slightly different techniques we will:
◼️ Explore iconic choreographic moments from the classical repertoire.
◼️ With one dancer and one lens, recreate the imagery of a corps de ballet.
◼️ Learn the photographic techniques behind long exposure and layering.
This whorkshop will be led by Michelle Buckley (professional dancer & co-founder/director of DPL) and Nick Gregan (professional photographer & author). Together, we will guide you through this specially curated workshop in a professional studio, using the specific techniques to create the impression of a corps de ballet.

Photoshop Bootcamp (Session 01 of 02)
The Photoshop Bootcamp workshop is an intensive training course designed to quickly teach participants the fundamentals and intermediate skills needed to use Adobe Photoshop effectively. This workshop condenses the material covered in introductory and intermediate Photoshop courses into a shorter, information-packed weekend.
Participants will learn to navigate the Photoshop workspace, use tools for retouching and color correction, and manipulate layers and adjustment layers. The workshop also emphasizes practical, hands-on experience with real-world image editing and compositing projects.
The Photoshop Bootcamp workshop will follow the outline below:
I. Introduction to Photoshop
* **A. Understanding the Photoshop Interface:** Exploring the workspace, panels, tools, and options bar.
* **B. Basic Image Concepts:** Pixels, resolution, image sizing, cropping, and color models (RGB vs. CMYK).

The Photoshop Bootcamp workshop is a hands-on workshop, and example files and materials are made available to each participant. Each participant is required to have a computer available for use throughout the workshop. That computer must be adequately configured to run the latest version of Photoshop available in Adobe's Creative Cloud software suite (as of the time of this document, that version is Photoshop 2025 (Version 26.9.0)). Photoshop should be installed and operational before the commencement of the workshop. Please don't hesitate to contact me PRIOR TO THE WORKSHOP to confirm that you are indeed prepared for doing the hands-on exercises during the workshop.
GENERAL WORKSHOP NOTES:
There is a fee of $400 per person associated with this workshop. The Photoshop Bootcamp workshop comprises two sessions (Session 01, November 22nd, and Session 02, November 23rd). The $400 fee covers participation in both sessions.
For scheduling purposes, on Meetup.com, the workshop is broken up into two (2) sessions. You only need to sign up for Session 01 (November 22nd), you will AUTOMATICALLY be signed up for Session 02 (November 23rd).
The following registration/cancellation policy is in place for this workshop:
* The workshop fee is due upon signing up for the event. You will be contacted shortly after you register to make arrangements for processing payment.
* Participant cancellations before October 22nd are entitled to a FULL refund of the workshop fee. Participant cancellations after October 22nd, but before November 15th, are entitled to a 50% refund of the workshop fee. Participant who cancel **after November 15th** will not be entitled to a refund of their workshop fee.
A continental breakfast is available each morning of the workshop (Session 01, November 22nd, Session 02, November 23rd) and includes coffee, tea, juice, and water.
