Microsoft Build //localhost:melbourne
Microsoft Build //localhost:melbourne
**Please Note:** you MUST Register at this link to attend - Space is limited. https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/reactor/events/27103/ This in-person event is built for developers and cloud engineers who want to design, build, and deploy real-world AI solutions on Azure. Expect a hands-on, implementation-focused experience using Microsoft Foundry and GitHub Copilot with live demos, guided labs, and practical developer workflows. #### Speakers **Randi Ratnayake - Beyond Prompts: Building Production-Grade AI with Microsoft Foundry Hosted Agents** Traditional AI agents are great for chat experiences, but enterprise applications often require much more than prompts and tools. Microsoft Foundry Hosted Agents enable developers to build code-first, containerised agent applications while Azure handles hosting, scaling, identity, and operational concerns. In this session, we'll explore the evolution from traditional Foundry Agents to Hosted Agents, compare the classic and new Foundry experiences, and demonstrate how Hosted Agents enable production-grade orchestration, multi-agent systems, and enterprise integration patterns. Learn when Hosted Agents are the right choice and how they can accelerate your journey from AI prototype to enterprise solution. **Dennis Vroegop - Engineering Agents that Reason, Act and Adapt** In this hands-on lab, you will build an AI agent that reasons, acts, and adapts while navigating a mission-based challenge in San Francisco. Using Microsoft Agent Framework with Microsoft Foundry capabilities, you will progressively add Model Context Protocol tools, agent-to-agent collaboration, knowledge retrieval, and memory plus logging to create a production-ready agentic workflow. **Bron Thulke - GitHub Copilot in Visual Studio: Agents That Debug, Profile, and Test** Explore how GitHub Copilot in Visual Studio helps professional developers debug complex issues, analyze performance bottlenecks, and improve test workflows using agent-powered experiences. We'll cover real-world scenarios across C# and C++ apps, highlight new capabilities coming to GitHub Copilot in Visual Studio, and show how AI can become a trusted part of your inner-loop development process. **Ahmed Muhi - The honest practitioner's take on agentic AI on Kubernetes** Agentic AI workloads are stateful, bursty, and multi-step, and they often span infrastructure beyond a single cluster. This breakout focuses on what it actually takes to run AI at scale on Kubernetes while keeping systems operable, including practical patterns for serving, training, orchestration, and fleet operations. **Stuart Dobson - One Package Away: Turning Azure Functions into AI Agent Tools with MCP** If you're already running Azure Functions, you're closer to having a working MCP server than you think. In this session, we'll explore how one NuGet package and a few attribute decorations turns your existing Azure Functions into MCP tools, callable by GitHub Copilot, Azure AI Foundry agents, and any MCP-compatible client. No rewrite. No separate server. Your blob containers, Cosmos collections, and Service Bus queues stay exactly where they are - you're just adding a new trigger type that knows how to talk to agents. This is a live demo session. By the end, you'll have seen a working Azure Function exposed as an MCP tool, and tested against GitHub Copilot in Agent mode. **Danidu Weerasinghe - "Don't Just Migrate — Build a Migration Machine"** Cloud migration demos usually show a one-off success. This session shows how to build a repeatable migration machine. Starting from a real AWS workload, we use GitHub Copilot Agents plus reusable Skills to automate discovery, architecture design, IaC transformation, code refactoring, pipeline generation, and validation. The key shift is from prompt-heavy, single-use agents to a skills-first model where migration knowledge is modular, versioned, and reusable across projects. You will see how this approach improves consistency, reduces rework, and turns migration from a hero effort into an engineering system your team can scale. **Tama Waddell -** **Build, Ship & Run code-first Hosted Agents with Microsoft Foundry** You've spent this year building out your agent harness for your coding projects. Some of you have gone further and started automating your own workflows, business processes and SDLC. How do you build capable agents requires more than just an Agent.md file? How can I get my current harness into the cloud to run automatically. How do you orchestrate agents to talk to one another? How can I use tokens on the cloud rather than my own? Microsoft foundry provides these capabilities through prompt agents and hosted agents. Hosted Agents are Microsoft Foundry's code-first solution for agentic AI. Come join Tama as he shares how to get your own fully capable agent deployed into the cloud as a hosted agent. How to build them, ship them and run them so you can automate business workflows for yourself, your team or the company. Are you ready for the next generation of agents? **AJ Bajada - Roll for Vibes** In Roll for Vibes, I take you on a fast and fun 20 minute journey through how I vibe coded a full companion app for a tabletop RPG in just one day. No grand plan, no prophecy from the DM, just pure instinct and a willingness to let the dice (and the code) fall where they may. I will show how that single day sprint created a character builder and a chat agent that helps players navigate rules, lore, and those classic moments of “wait, can I actually do that,” all connected to Foundry agents. It is a real world example of how vibe coding, when done correctly instead of chaotically neutral, can solve real problems and bring a tabletop world to life with surprising speed and style. **James Westall & Akanksha Malik - Cooking up a special LAB (Watch this space)** #### Prerequisites Space is limited for this event, as such we ask that you do not bring unregistered guests. So we can accurately anticipate guest count, cancel your registration if you do not plan on attending. Please be ready to present your registration confirmation email at the door if requested

Let’s meet for a casual evening of indoor bouldering at BlocHaus Port Melbourne. Bouldering is climbing on shorter walls with padded mats, without ropes or harnesses. Women in Cloud - Governance, Security & Insights
Women in Cloud - Governance, Security & Insights
Join us for an evening of learning, networking, and knowledge sharing as we explore how organisations create secure, well-governed cloud environments. Our speakers will discuss practical approaches to identity governance, cloud security, and business-driven decision making, sharing real-world experiences and lessons learned along the way. Whether you're working in cloud, security, business analysis, or just keen to expand your knowledge, we'd love to see you there! **Topics:** **1\. Multi\-Cloud Identity Governance: Reducing Risk Through Ownership\, Lifecycle\, and Assurance** In this session, we will be exploring how managing identity and access becomes more complex in multi-cloud environments due to the rapid growth of identities, systems, and permission models, and how identity governance brings structure, visibility, and control through three key principles - ownership (clear accountability for identities and access), lifecycle (managing access from creation to timely removal), and assurance (continuously validating that access remains appropriate and secure) to help reduce risk, improve control, and enable secure, scalable operations across modern distributed environments. **About the speaker** [Amitha Shree](https://www.linkedin.com/in/amithashree/) is an Identity Governance Manager at nbn® Australia. **2\. Business Analysis with AWS Security Services: GuardDuty\, Security Hub and IAM Access Analyzer** Business analysis enables change within an organisation by defining needs and recommending solutions that deliver value to stakeholders. When applied to AWS security, it ensures services are purposefully aligned to the organisation's risk appetite, strategic goals, and compliance obligations. It transforms Amazon GuardDuty from a threat detection tool into a quantifiable risk reduction investment, elevates AWS Security Hub from a technical dashboard into an executive-facing compliance reporting engine, and repositions IAM Access Analyzer from a policy scanner into a governance framework that protects against the most common causes of cloud breaches. Together, business analysis connects all three services into a coherent, measurable, and business-driven security strategy that enables organisations to make smarter, faster, and more confident decisions. **About the speaker** [Hazra Ali](https://www.linkedin.com/in/hazra-ali-a3777297/), a Business Analyst at WorkSafe Victoria, has more than 12 years of experience in Information Technology specialising in banking and finance sector in business analysis, software development, incident management and customer service. **Agenda:** **5:30pm** – Food and networking **6:00pm** – Presentation 1. Multi-Cloud Identity Governance: Reducing Risk Through Ownership, Lifecycle, and Assurance **6:40pm** – Presentation 2. Business Analysis with AWS Security Services: GuardDuty, Security Hub and IAM Access Analyzer **7:20pm** – Networking We’re incredibly grateful to our sponsors [Confluent](https://www.confluent.io/), [Mantel](https://mantelgroup.com.au/) and [REA group](https://www.rea-group.com/) — for supporting our community and making this event possible. Join us for an evening of learning, meaningful conversations, and great company, we can’t wait to see you there!

Smashing! Try something new Thursday Interactive reality workshop - Tonight learn how to respond to questioning, by thinking on you feet Serious about improving your leadership - **Why mess, come to the best** Why is Smashing different to other speaking clubs? Just two member's thoughts, "The fun/laughs factor is definitely a point of difference. We keep it moving with high standards so it’s a nice balance. Too strict makes it tense and boring, too loose and we can lose the energy/commercial feel. SmashSpeak's vibe's in the sweet spot." "At other clubs I used to listen to long speeches and lectures, here we get so many chances to talk every meeting, that we have to improve" **Free parking** close: O'Connell and Cobden streets **IMPORTANT: Be on time, as doors close when the show starts** “Proudly Australian" – Free-flowing teamwork, greater good focus, sharing the stage, etc Multicultural Hub, 506 Elizabeth St (Opposite Queen Vic Market) Level 1, PURPLE Room (End of corridor) More to come...

Finance Secrets Smart Developers Use! (AUSUN Finance) + 4 Townhouses (Helen )
**\*\*\*RSVP PROCESS - CRITICAL INFO\*\*\*** Please be aware, we don't use the Meetup website to take RSVPs, so you will need to register on this link to lock in your place (bookings essential) - [https://propdev.info/uMKh](https://propdev.info/uMKh) We run events most weekends around Australia so you can attend either physically in your local area, or live-stream to any event around the country. **In-Person:** 1:30pm (Melbourne time) to 'Mingle With The Expert' **Virtual:** 2pm (Melbourne time) **INTRODUCING THE INDUSTRY EXPERT:** *Finance Secrets Smart Developers Use! AUSUN Finance (Thomas Tang)* You’ve found a great site. The numbers work. Then the finance falls apart. The loan gets declined. Conditions change midway through the deal. Settlement gets delayed. Or worse… the project never happens at all. For many small-to-medium developers, the biggest risk isn’t finding the deal… it’s getting the finance right. And most people make the same mistakes: Using inexperienced brokers, approaching the wrong lenders, presenting deals poorly, or not understanding how lenders actually assess development projects. That’s why we’re excited to have Thomas Tang from AUSUN Finance joining us as our next Industry Expert at Property Developer Network. Thomas specialises in Construction & Development Finance and has been involved in funding countless development projects across the country. As a second-generation developer with one of the highest lending volumes nationally, Thomas understands exactly how lenders think, how brokers and bankers operate behind the scenes, and what developers need to do to position themselves correctly in today’s market. In this presentation, Thomas will break down: • What lenders are REALLY looking for right now • Why deals get delayed, declined, or repriced • The biggest mistakes developers make when applying for finance • How to build long-term relationships with the right lenders and brokers • What you can do immediately to improve your chances of funding success Because in today’s market… the developers who understand finance are the ones still getting deals done. **INTRODUCING THE REAL DEAL:** *1 into 4 Townhouses (Helen Shao)* *1042m2, NRZ, Boroondara, Victoria* You’ve finally secured a development site. Council approvals are underway. The builder is ready to go. Then the market shifts. Town planning drags on for months. Uncertainty kicks in. And suddenly you’re left wondering… “Do I push ahead… or wait?” For many small-to-medium developers, knowing when to move — and when to hold back — can make or break a project. That’s why we’re excited to have Helen Shao joining us to share her latest Real Deal project at Property Developer Network. Using a delayed settlement strategy to secure the site, Helen navigated the uncertainty of the Covid-19 period while managing lengthy town planning delays and carefully timing the start of construction as the market stabilised. In this Real Deal presentation, Helen will walk you through the realities of managing a development during uncertain market conditions, including: • How delayed settlement helped secure the opportunity • The impact Covid had on planning and timing • Lessons learned through lengthy approval delays • How the project stayed on track during construction • What she would do differently next time If you’ve ever wondered how experienced developers adapt when the market throws curveballs at them… this is a presentation you won’t want to miss. **This is your chance to talk property with other enthusiasts!** See you all soon!

In Person Event: The Secrets to Mental Health
In Person Event: The Secrets to Mental Health
Mental Health, how do you understand it? How can you improve it? How do you get rid of stress, anxiety and uncertainty? These emotions are buried deep in your reactive mind. Find out what the reactive mind is, and in the process find yourself. Have you ever suffered from a traumatic experience, a deep loss or been through a painful breakup? Has your ability to communicate suffered as a result? And after that, even though you "moved on" did you find that things were never quite the same? Have you ever looked at childhood photos, or reminisced your early life and wondered where that happiness and spark went? Are your emotions out of your own control? Have you ever felt, even if you aren’t aware of it, that possibly you are getting in your own way of your happiness and success? How does this affect your self-confidence? Find out what is at the root of all stress, anxiety, depression and self-doubt. Find out how and why you hold yourself back from achieving your goals and having the life you have dreamed of. As soon as you learn what is at the root of these unwanted conditions, you’ll see it is something you can DO something about. You will not be labeled or categorized at this MeetUp. This group is hosted by the Dianetics and Scientology Life Improvement Center of Central Ohio.
