However, the lower mind can obstruct this wakeful and alert state if we are not aware of this instrument – our mind – and its place in our lives. Without this awareness, we allow it to be driven by lower impulses and the (collective) unconscious, leading us away from our true potential. The time around the new moon favors the stillness of the lower mind, allowing access to a higher state of pure perception. This state enables us to connect our consciousness to the universal mind (Shiva) and uncover the essential truth behind every experience. As meditating together in a group amplifies the effects, we gather monthly for the „Night of Shiva“ to experience this collective energy. Beforehand, an experienced astrologer will present the astrological quality of the moment of Shivaratri, including an outlook on the time quality of the upcoming month. Becoming aware of the astrological quality of time helps align our lives with the „Big Picture,“ bringing us closer to harmony with the cosmos and the divine will. It also helps to create an awareness of subtle nuances that can be absorbed and felt during the subsequent meditation. Rev. Steven Clevenger is an ordained spiritualist minister with over 40 years experience as a Spiritual Healer, Clairvoyant and Spiritual Teacher, educated and trained at the White Lily Chapel. Rev. Siobhan Wolf Shaffer is an ordained spiritualist minister and certified medium and healer with over 20 years experience. She began her development in 1988 in Pennsylvania and continued when she moved to Ohio in 1998 where she studied at Rays of Lights Church with Rev. Steven Clevenger.
