Backgammon Social Drinks n Dinner, CSC - Scotland Yard, Sun 31 May, 3pm
Backgammon Social Drinks n Dinner, CSC - Scotland Yard, Sun 31 May, 3pm
Venue: Civil Service Club Date/Time: Sunday 31 May 3-8pm and possibly beyond! First timers - please kindly read below about bringing your board, meetup fee, purchasing drinks and food, etiquette etc Please RSVP - CSC requires names of guests Intro Dear Backgammon Lovers, We had a decent turnout on Sunday with 14 backgammoners showing up at Waterloo Station. We'll be returning next to the Civil Service Club that is moments from Trafalgar Square. Social & Fun Backgammon at the CSC Whether you're a seasoned backgammoner or a newbie looking to learn this fabulous game that is thousands of years old, our social event is open to all. This is the perfect opportunity to sharpen your game, and share a laugh (or a lucky double six!) over backgammon. Add in a drink, maybe dinner, and you’ve got the recipe for a fun and relaxed evening. Venue Food and Drink Just a little reminder that when we use the Civil Service Club, we’re asked to buy at least one drink whilst we’re there, and hopefully food too. The Club has a nice range of food and snacks on offer, all at good prices, so it’s a great chance to relax and make the most of the day. About our backgammon social group Our group has been running for nearly 11 years since June 2015 and we have held nearly 500 official backgammon meetings - along with a further 300 off-grid (non meetups) since then. We are the largest backgammon group in the UK with nearly 2,500 backgammoners as members. What makes our group special are its members and the warmth, humour and friendliness whilst playing this splendid social game over a few drinks... usually fortnightly, and on a Sunday. We have about 30-odd regular members who play socially and we very much welcome new players too - so do come along. Dinner Time and Drinks and Food In between the rounds of backgammon many of us sit for a meal around 6pm, but you can order drinks and food whenever you like. RSVP Please RSVP asap - Often I need to provide the Club with an indication of numbers. Bring your own Backgammon Board - no problem if initially you don't have one. Love seeing the different styles and size of boards - my boards have somehow gotten larger over the years. Please bring your own backgammon board and should you not have one please let us know in advance via the Meetup message board so that others can make the effort to bring theirs. Meetup Fee I will ask for £4 as the meetup fees etc have increased substantially over the past year or two. This also assists paying other admin costs including Club membership and tips. Other Games We sometimes play other games in the evening such as Rummikub, Yahtzee, and a type of Gin Rummy... so ask and watch this space! Etiquette Just a quick reminder- it’s always nice to say thank you to the staff at the CSC when you can. Let’s also keep things warm and friendly with each other and enjoy this splendid game. If anything comes up, please feel free to have a word with me or whoever is hosting on my behalf Backgammon Rules With one or two exceptions our group plays international backgammon tournament rules. I have outlined these rules on our meetup page. My Contact Should you get lost or need to get in touch my number is: 07956 263451. Would advise you not to post messages two hours before the meetup commences as there's often chance I will not see it. Best wishes and have lots of fun on Sunday! Chris Sattaur

KING/QUEEN OF THE HILL: 2 to 6 PM
KING/QUEEN OF THE HILL: 2 to 6 PM
**About Session** **King of the Hill** **4 courts for 4 hours** **£14 per person** Mechanics are as follows: 1. At the beginning of the session, we will randomly designate the King/Queen of the Hill. This will placed on the white board. 2. If the pair wins their game, they remain as King/Queen. If the pair loses, the bands pass to the winning pair and that pair shall now become the reigning King/Queen of the Hill. Each match pairing and score must be written down so we can track the King/Queen of the Hill. 3. The reigning pair must play together until they are defeated or until the end of the session, whichever comes first. If the pair separates, the King/Queen of the Hill will go to a random pair on court that has won their game at that moment. 4. The reigning pair may be challenged by anyone, given a reasonable amount of rest and following the usual "no 360" rules. 5. If one or both of the reigning pair leave before the end of the session, they shall cede the King/Queen of the Hill to their last opponents who are still present. 6. At 45 minutes left in the session, only players that have played at least 2 (or 3 depending size of session) King of the Hill games may challenge the King of the Hill. 7. The pair that is King/Queen of the Hill 10 minutes before the end of the session (5:50PM) will be declared winners of the event. Prize to be announced in the WhatsApp group.
Bridal fashion pop-up (panel talk and try-ons)
Bridal fashion pop-up (panel talk and try-ons)
An intimate bridal try-on event and panel conversation in London for brides exploring wedding dress trends and archive & rental bridalwear. **Bridal Fashion Pop Up & Bridal Fashion Week Debrief: The Dress Archives** Join The Dress Archives (TDA) for a curated afternoon of conversation, styling and connection. This is a space for modern brides to explore what’s next in bridal fashion. From runway trends to evolving attitudes towards ownership, sustainability and how weddings are curated today. Alongside a live panel discussion and audience Q&A, guests will have access to a curated selection of designer bridal pieces from our archive, available to try on and experience in a relaxed, supportive setting. This is not a traditional bridal fair or showroom. It’s a conversation-led space where fashion, intention, and community come together. To attend, please register on Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/bridal-fashion-pop-up-bridal-fashion-week-debrief-for-brides-tickets-1989202472142?aff=oddtdtcreator ✨ What to Expect * Bridal Fashion Week trend insights (runway + real-world bridal styling) * Wedding dress try-ons from a curated bridal archive * Live panel discussion with our co-founders & industry voices * Open audience Q&A * Drinks, light bites & connection with other brides * Advice from industry voices in bridal fashion 💭 Why You Should Attend Finding a wedding dress today can feel overwhelming. Between endless Pinterest inspiration, fast-moving bridal trends, and pressure to make the “perfect” choice, many brides are left asking: where do I even start, and what actually feels like me? Bridal fashion is shifting - not just in silhouette and styling, but in how brides are building their bridal identity. Rather than a single dress, many modern brides are now curating brida waredrobes, multiple looks across the wedding journey, from ceremony to evening to after-parties, shaped by mood, setting and self-expression. Alongside evolving runway trends, expectations around cost, sustainability and emotional connection are redefining what bridalwear means today. Ownership is no longer always the goal and versatility, access and creativity are becoming just as important. More brides are exploring flexible ways to approach this moment, including rental, archive access and shared wardrobes. This gathering brings that shift into a real, tangible space. An intimate setting to try on pieces, hear from other brides navigating the same decisions, and explore what bridal can feel like from industry experts. Event Details 📍The Hearth – Library Space, 16 Lonsdale Rd, Queens Park, London, NW6 6RD. 📅 Sunday 31st May 🕛 12:00pm – 2:00pm 🎟 Limited spaces available due to the intimate nature of the event. 💌 Who This Is For This event is for you if you are: * Currently wedding dress shopping * Recently engaged * Curious about rental or archive bridal options * Looking for a more modern, relaxed bridal experience -- 🤍 About The Dress Archives The Dress Archives (TDA) is a London-based bridal platform rethinking how wedding dresses are discovered, experienced, and circulated. We curate a rotating archive of designer bridal pieces available to try on and be lent with love, offering brides access to beautiful, considered dresses without the pressure or permanence of ownership. Our focus sits at the intersection of bridal fashion, modern styling, and more conscious ways of experiencing what are often the most significant outfit choices of a woman’s life. We’d love to welcome you.

Sunday Gaming at The Wapping Tavern
**You will find us in the games area in the lower section of the pub.** Please ensure you read these: [Rules](https://www.londononboard.com/rules-regulations) We don't allow Chess, Scrabble, Monopoly, Roleplaying games, Magic the Gathering, Mafia, Werewolf etc. at LoB as there are other venues or groups for that and we want to make sure that there is enough space for board games. We want everyone that comes to our events to have a good time, and we know that some games require more communication than others. Please be mindful that we are in a small space and that other members will need to explain rules and focus. As a small group of volunteers, we are very dependent on the good will of our venues to host us for free. It is vitally important that everyone attending LoB buys food and drink to ensure that we can build and maintain those relationships with our venues. If you have any feedback about the venue, please report it to us directly rather than speaking to the staff. You must only attend if you have a place, i.e. that you have made it off the waitlist. If you can no longer attend, please mark your RSVP as ‘Not Going’, ideally more than an hour before the event starts. Please be aware that an organiser may ask to see proof of RSVP.

In-Person Event: The Answers to Depression & Anxiety
In-Person Event: The Answers to Depression & Anxiety
This is an in-person meeting. At this meeting you will get answers to depression and anxiety. Find out the source of them and how to get rid of them. Did you know that unwanted emotions like anxiety, depression, unhappiness, loneliness, hopelessness, anger, fear, or feelings of irritation don’t just fall on you for no reason. They are not random occurrences that simply happen to people's minds. They are definitely not due to a chemical imbalance in your brain from some nebulous chemical reaction "by chance". Your negative emotions are the symptoms of the painful experiences that you have which are not healed, and which are still affecting you. The effects of these painful experiences are exacerbated by the pressures or difficulties of the other problems in your life. Come to our Meetup, where we can introduce you to some of the knowledge, tools and techniques of the breakthroughs in the field of the mind that we can apply to this ever important area of life. Be sure to click on the red "Attend" button below to come to this local event. We look forward to seeing you there. This group is created by the Hubbard Dianetics Foundation of Central Ohio and Church of Scientology of Central Ohio.
