Drumming Circle & Uplifting Discussion ๐ชโจ๐
**NO MUSICAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED**
**About Drum & Soul**
The only intention behind Drum & Soul is to help create vibrant, healthier, and more united communities โ together. We believe art is the best channel for that purpose. This is more than a drumming circle. It is a practical space where we do two things at once: we develop useful skills and cultivate inner qualities, and we help others grow those same qualities. Through rhythms from many cultures, collective singing and meaningful conversation around a focused theme, we practise skills that strengthen both the individual and the community.
**Why come**
If you want to expand your expressive capacity, practise listening with depth, learning to lead or join others who take community wellbeing to heart, Drum & Soul is for you. This is a place to try courageously, to learn deeply, and to contribute authentically. Everyone is welcome regardless of background or musical experience. If you feel shy in groups, that is completely natural and we got you. A few of us will gently hover around newcomers like butterflies, offering a warm welcome and quiet space so nobody feels out of place. Many people tell us they arrived nervous but soon felt as if they had stepped into a family home.
**How it works**
At the start of each session we centre with a short breathing exercise, followed by a demonstration of simple rhythms, then break into small groups for guided conversation. Then weโll have a potluck meal and continuing our conversation and connection over a break. Finally we move into collective jamming and improvisation.
**Typical meeting flow**
1. ๐ซฑ๐ฝโ๐ซฒ๐ป Arrival & social time โ 15 min
2. ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ Welcome, check in and centring โ 15 min
3. ๐ช Call & Respond **Drumming & demo** โ 15 min
4. ๐ฌ Facilitated **Discussion** on the Theme (groups of five-or so) โ 20 min
5. ๐ฆ Potluck **dinner** & social time afterwards โ 40 min
6. ๐บ๐ฝ Open **Jamming** with multiple instruments โ 30 min
*This outline is flexible and may shift to suit the group and the space.*
**Logistics & what to bring**
We meet in a large beautiful space. Drums are available on a first come first served basis. We also provide plenty of small percussion instruments so every hand can play. You are welcome to bring your own drum or instrument. After our time of drumming and dialogue, we share a simple potluck dinner, an extension of our circle where conversation continue to flourish over nourishing food. Feel free to bring whatever you love to share.
**Cost & contributions**
This is a free event. As a community we are encouraged to contribute even a small snack to share with everyone, or pay what or if you can, to cover the costs of refreshments and material, by E-transfer to: **hooshmandnyc@gmail.com** โ Contributions are optional.
**Helpful notes**
No prep needed. Doors open at 3:45 p.m. Please arrive by then so we can start at 4:00 p.m. sharp and keep the flow. Location and any last minute updates are posted on Meetup and in our WhatsApp group. We recommend joining the WhatsApp group (ask us for the link at the venue) for quick notices.
**Why this matters**
The world is ill, and is aching for a lasting remedy. We believe our sacred mission is to nurture one another, define our roles in service to our fellow humans, and become living temples of unity. A meaning growth unfolds through both selfโdiscovery and collective effort, and one cannot truly flourish without the other. Come open and prepared to learn, to offer your gifts, and to be strengthened by the power of community.

FREE Spanish, English, and French Oral Conversational Classes 4 Adults!
\*These classes are not a language exchange, but instead are meant to be a step in between so that students feel confident maintaining in depth and grammatically correct oral conversations outside of class\*
\***Meetup event numbers only tend to show new students registering and do not include returning students attending class.** **Per class, there is an average of 7 students.** The first 2 classes are free and then only cost between $18 and $36 depending on which type of class you want to continue with\*
These French, English (For Spanish and French speakers only), and Spanish classes are primarily meant for adults who are travellers, or who are planning to live in a French, English, or Spanish-speaking country. The classes are primarily oral-based through guided conversations. They will teach you how to handle conversations in situations such as **"Going to the Convenience Store"**, **"Making Plans"**, **"Negotiating Prices"**, and **"Going out for a Drink"**. To ensure that students get used to using the language automatically, students will learn to maintain contextual conversations with timing before moving on to the next lesson. Call (647)787-9953, e-mail us info@monkeylingo.ca, or visit monkeylingo.ca for more information! **Online and private classes are also available!**
No other language classes are as conversational as these ones. We guarantee it! Cheap parking can be found using the "Spot Hero" app.
Snow loops of Detonia Park (4.5 km)
Golf courses are not just for golf. In winter, city-owned courses become cross-country skiing and snowshoeing territory. Detonia Park is one of them and is also the closest to a subway station. There's also good food nearby.
After romping through the golf course, we'll head west to another potentially snow-covered field. Then, it's on to Little Bangladesh along Danforth Avenue, where you can check out Bengali supermarkets and snacks. The hike ends at a Bangladeshi restaurant.
This event depends on snow. If there is heavy snowfall, you can ski or showshoe the golf course portion of the hike. Walking in the snow loops is not recommended. If you must, wear muck boots and traction aids. If there is no snow and ice, we'll just walk.
After the golf course, the rest of the route is on foot.
**Highlights**
1. Detonia Park Golf Course car park (depart 12pm)
2. Golf turf blanketed in snow (or barren and grey)
3. Crescent Town
4. Shohid Minar
5. Adi Bikrampur Sweets (depart 1:05pm)
6. Bangladeshi supermarkets
7. Shaad Restaurant (arrive 1:30pm)

Free In-person Meeting: Unwanted Emotions & Loneliness, How to Get Over Them
This is an in-person meeting.
Did you know that unwanted emotions like loneliness, sadness, hopelessness, anger, fear, anxiety, or feelings of irritation donโt just fall on you for no reason. They are not random occurrences that simply happen to people's minds. They are definitely not chemical imbalance in your brain due to some nebulous chemical reactions by chance.
Your negative emotions are the symptoms of the painful experiences that you have which are not healed, and which are still affecting you.
The effects of these painful experiences are exacerbated by the pressures or difficulties of the other problems in your life.
For instance, let's say you are already carrying a huge load on your back, then you cannot take on much more, but, let's say something else happens to you, such as the difficulties from the Pandemic, then the resultant combined weight on you can take you over the edge, kind of like the straw that break the camel's back. When this happens, people's attention usually goes to the straw that was added, but actually the majority of the weight had come from the huge load that were already there, holding a person down and causing a person issues.
So how do you remove the huge load that was already there? How do you lighten them up? Is it possible to get rid of them?
That is what this meeting will be all about.
Come to our Meetup, where we can introduce you to some of the knowledge, tools and techniques of the breakthroughs in the field of the mind that we can apply to this ever important area of life.
Be sure to click on the red "Attend" button below to come to this local event. We look forward to seeing you there.
This group is created by the Dianetics and Scientology Life Improvement Center of Central Ohio.
Azure CBUS February: Build Your Own MCP Server
### Tools in your AI's Toolbox : An introduction to MCP Servers
The generative AI revolution has unlocked unprecedented capabilities, but the next frontier is agency: empowering models to interact with, query, and act upon the world. The current challenge is the โN x M integration problem,โ where every AI model requires a custom, brittle integration for each external tool or data source. This approach simply doesnโt scale. How can we give an AI access to our sales leads, code repositories, or IoT devices in a standardized, secure, and reusable way?
This session introduces Anthropicโs Model Context Protocol (MCP), the open-source framework designed to solve this challenge and become the universal connectorโthe USB-C portโfor AI. MCP standardizes how AI models discover and use external tools, moving beyond simple function-calling to a robust, client-server architecture. We will dive into how this open protocol is creating a new ecosystem for building powerful, context-aware AI agents.
Join this session for a developer-focused introduction where you will learn how to:
Understand the core concepts of the open-source Model Context Protocol and its architecture.
Utilize pre-built, open-source MCP servers to instantly connect AI to tools like Git, Slack, and databases.
Build a custom MCP server to securely expose your own proprietary data and APIs as tools for any compliant AI.
Move beyond bespoke integrations and contribute to a standardized, collaborative, and open ecosystem.
Stop building one-off connectors and start building intelligent agents. This session will give you the practical knowledge to leverage MCP and create the next generation of AI that doesnโt just talk, but does.
Want to be a speaker? submit your talk to our Call for Presenters!!!
