OFFERING OF GONGS + SINGING BOWLS SOUND
Offering of sound to the temple you reside is a purification process. The space within is cleansed and is receptive to what is. The Sounds offered in this session may intensify your presence. And that, offering presence is said to be healing .
The function of the instrument Gong and Singing Bowls are commonly used in sacred places to induce quietude and silence – the cosmic background Sound and space where life thrives best. This is a simple and gentle method to evoke stillness. And as a consequence, the act of doing is refined to be meditative and focused.

Kirtan - Music meditation (Every First Friday of the month)
Many of us think of yoga as physical exercises to enhance one’s physique, with an occasional short meditation for its calming effects. But that is only the tip of the iceberg. How to we deal with our intense human emotions or trauma that accumulated as we progress in our lives?
According to ancient yoga, the human body is made up of the multiple layers—physical, mental, emotional; and there are many practices to bring light to our being.
Emotions are vital and sacred; like pockets of energy waiting to be released; emotions are not obstacles but our guiding lights to finding the ultimate bliss in life. The ancient yogis gave us Bhakti Yoga, the yoga of devotion, to channel that energy and guide us back to our source.
Bhakti is about a relationship with the universe and it is all encompassing that it embraces every color on the emotional spectrum. In Bhakti Yoga, we lead with our hearts. We sing, we dance, we play music, write poetry, cook, paint and do everything with love —as part of our interaction with the Divine.
Kirtan, the practice of chanting mantras, is perhaps the most important technique in bhakti yoga (Man means “Mind” and Tra means “to Control”).
The practice is simple but internally it works magic in our hearts. Externally, we’re just repetitively singing with simple melodies and a few Sanskrit words. But it helps us to put our analytical minds aside and singing from within. We sing from our heart that is crying out for love. We channel whatever emotion we’re feeling into our voice.
Deep healing happens, walls will melt, wounds will heal, trauma will heal, hate & unforgiveness will dissolve. Long-submerged emotions come to the surface.
As we sing, we immerse ourselves in an endless river of love from the universe. And we enter into a meditative & blissful state that allow our hearts to heal and re-open the infinite universal source of love within us.
There is no need to understand the language of the mantra. No need for mental speculation nor any intellectual adjustment. It is automatic, from the spiritual platform, and anyone can take part without any previous qualification.

#3 - Quiet Hours: Silent Reading
Life moves fast, and sometimes it’s hard to find time to just read. I want to get back to the habit of reading, and I thought it would be wonderful if we could help each other do the same.
**Join me for a few hours of quiet, uninterrupted reading.**
\-\-\- The space has a large table with chairs
\-\-\- Bring whatever makes you most comfortable to read\, whether that’s a cozy blanket\, notebook\, or your favorite mug of tea\.
\-\-\- Feel free to bring your own food or drink to enjoy while you read\.
Whether you want to escape into a novel, explore non-fiction, or simply enjoy some peaceful reading time, this is your space to slow down, recharge, and reconnect with the joy of reading. ♥️
You read . I listen and make you coffee.
I'm creating a club open to anyone that's ever tried reading more than a page in a book and hasn't done so because of modern media induced ADHD. **The idea is to meet , each person read a page or more from their own book and everyone talk about it** . I mean just talk like normal human beings used to . I miss the days when I had real human beings for company and we could talk freely .
**All you need to become a part of this group is to be a human being that craves company , coffee and laughter!**
There is no preparation required , you don't need to finish a book to come over , just pick one that you've always wanted to read or may be even pick one from my collection !
I can't think of a better way to spend a Sunday morning ! can't wait to meet you all !
**What you need to bring** \- yourself \! and a book you like if you can or pick one of mine \! and atleast 2 hr of your time \!
**What you can expect** \- Atleast 1 poem every time we meet cos \- we need beauty in our lives \!
Sunday morning Coffee . Laughter.
Watch the city walk by as you read and I listen.

Speak Easy (Storytelling)
The topic for January is "Chemistry"
Speak Easy: true stories, told live.
The idea is simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant- it's up to you. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 7:00 pm, show starts at 7:30 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast.
Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human. And in a world of smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and more . . . it gives people a real, breathing, in-person way to connect.
The night is geared for true stories of all kinds, taking the best tales told around kitchen tables, in darkened pubs, on the street corner, and at late-night parties and giving them an audience. Speak Easy is also a great outlet for performers, writers, and artists looking to share their favorite stories and perfect their skills. We strongly encourage tellers to please tell the story rather than read it so we keep within the spirit of good storytelling and stay engaged with the audience. All are welcome. Hang around after the show for a drink and build community!
Contra dance with Big Scioty on Jan 3 - First Congregational Church
**Caller: Gaye Fifer**
**Band: Hot Coffee Breakdown**
**Big Scioty Contra Dance**
**temporarily returning to our long ago location for Jan-March - First Congregational Church, 444 E. Broad St., Columbus 43215**
WHAT IS CONTRA DANCING? Picture the Grand Ball scenes like you’ve seen in period films such as “Pride and Prejudice”, where the dancers are lined up in long lines, across from each other. That’s English Country Dancing, the predecessor of contra dancing. Now, add moves like “swing your partner” and “do-si-do,” like you’ve seen in square dancing. Set it to fabulous, high energy, live music with fiddles, guitars, percussion and more, alá “Riverdance.” Finally, set the whole scene down in the middle of Woodstock, with a hip, groovy atmosphere, a bit of tie-dye, and hints of counter-culture attitude. THAT’s Contra Dancing!
Wear cool and comfortable clothes (you will get warm) and clean shoes that won't mark up our nice wood floor.
Be sure to come for the beginner's lesson from 7:30 - 8:00, followed by dancing 8:00 - 10:30. All dances are taught; we will help you learn! Beginners always welcome, no need to bring a partner.
Cost is $10.00 adults, $5.00 ages 12-26. Under 12 free. Free parking in church lot.
For more information contact me or check out our website: [www.bigscioty.com](http://www.bigscioty.com/)
Please bring your own refillable water bottle. Snacks to share are always welcome!
